I bought the Vax to replace a Dyson machine. The Vax is so much lighter & very powerful. The only gripe i have, is when using the extension hose. On the Dyson, the hose was connected to the handle, remove the handle & you are ready to go. On the Vax you have to remove the handle, unclip the hose & connect to another hose, just awkward.

Great little vacuum cleaner. Light and nippy great to get around. The downside is the tools. They just don't stay on the vacuum itself. I also found it very fiddly to put all the pieces of tubing together with the wand to be able to vacuum the stairs. Otherwise it would be 5*.

(Posted on 25/12/2011)

Very good machine overall, light and easy to use. The main drawbacks are that the hooks to wind the cable around are not quite wide enough to take all the cable comfortably and the hooks for the storage of the tools are not adequate and do not hold the tools securely.

Ian Silverton

(Posted on 24/12/2011)

A little heavier than I thought it would be, (bought over the net at Amazon).

Apart from that, very sturdy, great suction, and I like the air driven tool which gets dog hair up brilliantly.

Good hose length, please do something about the cord storage on newer machines!!

I much prefer it to the two Dyson's I have owned, better design and construction, Dyson's are quite fragile and easily broken.

(Posted on 13/12/2011)

The machine is very compact, fairly light and easy to store.
I love how easy it is to empty. The bottom part of the dust container flips open and the contents drop out. No need to take the container apart.
The turbo brush is quite compact which is great for cleaning the stairs and getting in to the corners.
Compared to my old cleaner the machine is doing a much better job on the carpets and picking up cat hairs.
The machine is so neat that it easily glides under my bed. No more dust!
The extending hose does reach up to the top of my stairs as advertised when using the hose attachment. I feel that extending (pulling out) the hose feels a bit awkward but this may take some getting used to. I think I would find it easier if the hose could be accessed from the top of the machine rather than the base but I'm not sure if that would affect the stability of a lightweight machine. Also I am having to get used to winding up the flex again as my old machine had a retractable function.
All in all I am very happy with my purchase.

J Brand

(Posted on 13/12/2011)

Great product - plenty of suction and really light. Hose is long and can reach right up the stairs and the extra long power lead reduces the number of times that you have to unplug to get the job done!

I.r.e. Robertson

(Posted on 10/12/2011)

I found that I had to use a rubber band to secure the attachments in the clip, pity that there is no automatic cord winder; otherwise the extra cord length is great as we can use the machine throughout our bungalow without having to change plugs all of the time. Works better than the dyson which it replaces.

Although it is not recommended, we use the rotating brush on our wooden floors with no ill effects, also it is used in the kitchen and bathroom on the tiled surfaces; in fact we do not switch of the rotation at all.

All in all I would recommend this machine to anyone who was looking for a good quality, easy to clean and use vacuum cleaner. We are very pleased with it.

We have never had a hoover that pick's up so much dirt.

Paul Eyles

(Posted on 06/12/2011)

Does everything expected.
Cleans so easily, has more than enough lead length and is light
Whilst the dust container capacity is small we knew this when purchasing and is a small penalty for all the good things

H W Walsh

(Posted on 05/12/2011)

Being elderly and disabled my first consideration was light weight. The Vax was the lightest I could find. I haven't used it much but to date it has performed excellently. I have emptied the dust container once and found it simple and clean. Quite satisfied with my purchase.

A way to improve it? Ability to reduce the suction when needed would be useful.
While the long lead is useful a clip to hold a part-wound lead would make life easier as I park the cleaner with the lead permanently plugged in so I can do a quick run over the kitchen floor as necessary.

Julie Bates

Brilliant lightweight hoover - would recommend

Karen

(Posted on 03/12/2011)

Very pleased with this hoover. Chose it because of it's weight. Had a heavy dyson previously. Very strong suction and like the 2 different suction types for different floor types. Extra long cable a huge bonus. Joining the extension hose is a bit of a pain but not really an issue and the attachments can fall off the machine when in use, bit there's a clever trick. Push the 2 attachments together a bit more and they fit on snugly.

Overall the pluses far outweigh the couple of negatives. Would recommend.

Joanna Fleming

(Posted on 03/12/2011)

I am very pleased with the power of my vax, it has made a huge difference to my vaccuuming experience. However I have had to ring the careline to request spare clips as two of them flew off while in use. There was no mention of this in the instructions. It would be helpful to have it clearly marked that the clips need to face downwards.
Apart from that I am very pleased.

Susan Duncan

(Posted on 25/11/2011)

Nice and light to move around, hose is long enough for stairs etc but a bit of a mess around having to connect and disconnect the hose to the machine and add the attachments.
Seems to clean well enough and you can not complain about a six year guarantee.

Michael Potter

(Posted on 23/11/2011)

Very pleased with purchase.
Ideal compact upright cleaner for medium size house.
Great feature is the low height which enables you to clean under iron beds and some funiture where there is a small gap from the floor.
The cleaner can go horizontal without loosing contact with the floor,so saves any backbreaking to clean in difficult areas. Great long lead and hose to stretch up the stairs, tools are fine and again compact, being attached to the vac, can easily go from Carpet to wood floor with a simple switch.

Great, versatile, compact cleaner

Mike Howard

(Posted on 22/11/2011)

Very good suction and reaches up to the edge well, with great reach for stairs with the extended cable and power cord. Dust holder fills up very quickly so emptying frequently required. Very pleased with the machine so far.

Excellent machine, light & easy to use with a good cable length.

Mr & Mrs B. Steer

(Posted on 11/11/2011)

The machine works very well indeed, and I particularly like the small attachment for the stairs and upholstery.
However, we think that the instruction book which comes with it is very poor indeed. It is not easy from the small diagrams to work out what each piece is for and to work out how they are put together. Also it is rather difficult to wind the flex up tidily.

Phil Jones

(Posted on 11/11/2011)

over all very pleased with the vax, very good hoover. only thing i wonder is as all the attachments are plastic and the hover mainly, would these be prone to breaking. have not had the hoover long but the compactness and lighness is supurb.

Sharon Jones

(Posted on 11/11/2011)

I would definitely recommend the Vax Air Reach vaccuum cleaner. Its ideal when you are doing the stairs as you are not lifting the machine. It is lighter to carry too and easy to clean. Very light to push and picks up well.

Mrs S M O'rourke

(Posted on 10/11/2011)

As I recently underwent major abdominal surgery I needed a cleaner that was not only light but easy to use this is very fit for purpose picks up well on carpets and hard floors despite the fact that it looks a little flimsy being made of plastic.

Clint Davis

(Posted on 09/11/2011)

This is a very good product. I had to return the first one I purchased due to a product defect but it was replaced quickly and efficiently.I would recomend this to anyone because it's light weight, easy to maintain and cleans thoroughly. The best part about it is the roller which is particularly good at removing hair from carpet. Nothing is perfect so the only slight criticism would be that the hose is not quite long enough to reach all the way up stairs.

Alice Kingdom

(Posted on 09/11/2011)

Good vac, much lighter than the model that I returned to the shop.

Bad points: nowhere to store turbo brush on vac
Using the extender hose means bending right down to unclip and clip on hose- integrating this into the handle would be great!

Vanessa Procter

(Posted on 09/11/2011)

Very lightweight, great suction and cleaning power. I love it. The first time I used it,I was amazed at how much dirt came out of my carpets, which I had thought were clean!!!

I am very impressed with this product. The vaccuum cleaner is all that it claims to be; the lightest I have ever owned with excellent suction. I hope it continues to perform well as some cleaners I have had in the past stop picking up after a while. I am especially impressed with the turbo tool which is excellent for picking up cat fur.

I was looking for a lightweight upright cleaner to replace my heavy one,and liked the specifications of this vax.I am reelly happy with it,has more powerful suction, very good for pet hair, and is so easy to manouevre.Great value for money.Only problem I have is tools fall off back very easily but this would not put me off buying another or recommending it.

I love this product. Intact I have never left feedback for anything before! It's light, powerful, not bulky, has a very long power cord and hose and is easy to manoeuvre . I do have diffulcty keeping the extra tools to stay on the back but this does not put me off the product. It's fab

Len Fenn

(Posted on 29/10/2011)

The long lead is very good saves keep walking back to unplug, nice and light weight to lift up and down stairs, and a very good suction. Would recommend it.The only inprovement would be to make the storage hook for the lead a bit taller.

This is a replacement for the one I got a year ago. The motor shut off and after attempting to fix it they sent me a replacement. I am thrilled that with the warranty, I was given a replacement, Vax certainly stands behind their products.

I actually love this vacuum, as we have a German Sheppard Guide dog and a long haired white cat, so the pet hair is so bad, but this vacuum picks all the hair up easily.

Pam Bridgeman

(Posted on 26/10/2011)

Really impressed. The amount of fluff and dirt that is picked up each time this Vax cleaner is used is astonishing. It's the quietest machine I've ever had - so quiet my 18 month old grandson doesn't mind when it is on, whereas he used to scream when the old vacuum cleaner was used.

Mr Neil Hodgson

(Posted on 26/10/2011)

I like the Vax very much however few things I would improve.

1. Easier and quicker mothod of attaching the hose and nozle. I used to have a sebo and that was very easy to use the nozle as it was aloways attached which means that you could use it to pick up the odd bit of dirt as you use it around th home without stopping to attach it.

2. Somewhere to store the turbo brush on the unit.

3. built in winder for the cord. I know this would make the machine heavier but it is a pain having to wind up the very long cord. The length of the cord is very good just makes it a longer job to put away.

4. slightly longer hose as it doesn't quite do the full length of our stairs.

Gerry Collins

(Posted on 25/10/2011)

Great product and great performance. The Reach Vax is fab for versatility and reaching areas that a normal vac would struggle to get to. So quiet and yet so powerful.

(Posted on 24/10/2011)

Absolutely thrilled with the results of the Mach Air Reach. It really does pick up dust. This was recommended by a friend and I already had a very old Vax which has served me well. One more metre on the flex would have meant that I could go around the whole house without unplugging the machine. Overall a brilliant design with the hoses and tools being so easy to use. Using the handle as a part of this is a work of genius. Next time some other place for the brush tool would be useful as it is too heavy to stay in it's alloted place. The brush tool itself is very good. Thank you designers!

I am disabled with severe arthritis. I have been unable to vaccum for over 4 years. I bought this Vax and as it is so light I am now unable to vaccum everywhere. I picks up every last crumb or dog hair with ease and is easily emptied. I would definitely buy this vaccum again and recommend to all.

I have used this vacuum cleaner for just over a week now and i am extreamly pleased with it. It's suction power is second to none, and my carpets have come up better than i thought they would!I love the fact that i can see the bush bar through the clear cover, and am able to switch it on and off,via a button on top of the vacuum,to suit carpets and hard floors. No more having to tip the vacuum up to remove the debris from the brush bar-it is remarkably easy to access the brush bar,and a flashing red light warns you if it is still jammed-Brilliant!This vacuum is ideal for an household that has stairs and Pets. The extension flexi hose make cleaning the stairs and other hard to reach places a doddle, and the turbo tool is fabulous at removing pet hair. Also the longer power cord means i can vacuum more rooms without having to unplug/plug it in all the time. With a 6 year garantee, what more can i say!

(Posted on 18/10/2011)

i have been extremely pleased with this purchase. It is light which was the main reason for getting this.It is still powerful and it is not so much of a chore to do the hoovering. my only critisism is that the on board tools do not fit really well and they tend to fall off while using the hoover so i take them off until i need them. I have already recommended this product to a relative and they are also very pleased with their purchase.

Sid Ashford

Light to use good power, to use hose on stairs a little bit different otherwise an exellent cleaner allways have good service from vax machines currently owns a steam cleaner and a power carpet shampoo cleaner.

Julie

(Posted on 17/10/2011)

This vacuum is perfect for me - it is lightweight, quiet and picks up brilliantly. Compared to my last vacuum which was a cumbersome, heavy and awkward Dyson this Vax is a dream. I'm sure my last vacuum gave me tennis elbow whereas this one does all the work for me as any good vac should! And I got it at a bargain price while on offer so even more of a result!! I'm very happy with this purchase and would def recommend to others. it is equally good on laminate and carpet and you can easily switch between the 2 by pressing a simple button. The lead on it is long and the extension hose is very good for stairs. It is everything my last vacuum wasn't and that's why I like it so much!

J Walker

(Posted on 17/10/2011)

I was really impressed with this product. I don't really see how you can improve on it .
I would recommend it to anyone needing a vacuum cleaner.
Prior to my first use, I had already vacuumed . I was amazed to see that there was still dirt left in the carpet, which the vax removed.
It's light and easy to use.

Brilliant !

Ian Yarwood

(Posted on 16/10/2011)

Good cleaner, very powerful and pick up lots of things you would'nt think were in the carpet. Couple of downsides, the tools stored on the back of the hoover fall off their holder very easily and the beater roller has jammed twice in the first week alone but it is quite easy to open it and remove what is jamming it.
Very happy with the product though.

William Hendry

(Posted on 14/10/2011)

what an incredible machine.it is so light and easy to use that it has taken the place of 2vacuums that i used to use.i had an upright for the floors and a small cylinder one for the stairs.the 6year warranty even gives great peace of mind in case of breakdowns.

Scott Montgomery

(Posted on 12/10/2011)

I think that the Air Reach has good suction but the very small capacity means that it has to be emptied too often. Also, the way that the attachments fit onto the back often results in the cable knocking them off. I think that part of the design could be better.

Zoe

(Posted on 11/10/2011)

This product was absolutly worth every penny, it is extreamly light, very powerful when using the detachments, i live in a house with a long haired dog, a cat also another short haired cat and compared to my last vaccum it picks up every fine hair without a struggle.
One thing that i hate is vaccums that are hard to clean but this one has a brilliant set up to clean everything from filters to the detachable's.

All in all i would give this vaccum 10/10, i would defiently recomend Vax to a friend and this would be my future choise.

(Posted on 10/10/2011)

I am really happy with the Air Reach.
Main positive points:-
It is it so light to move around
It is easy to carry up the stairs - I used to ask for assistance
It is easy to manouever when vacuuming
It picks up well - always embarassing to see how much
Power cord is long I can vacuum the whole of the down stairs from one socket - so much better
Better price than main competitor
Slight negatives having to physically change over to the attachment hose, attachments do not stay in place on the body of the vacuum cleaner
Would I buy it again - absolutely YES

John Mckee

(Posted on 10/10/2011)

The VAX was well packed and easy to sort out and use. The suction is strong and the tank had lots of carpet fluff in it right from the start. It is easy to use and gets right to the edge of the carpets. It is light to carry and very effective. We are very pleased with it.

John Trimbee

(Posted on 06/10/2011)

We have not yet thoroughly tested all the functions of our new machine BUT, the very first thing that was abundantly obvious was..... the distance between centres of the two quick release cord wraps (machine over view item 15) are INADEQUATE to be able to take the 10 metres of cord/cable. OR.... the cable retaining flanges need lengthening.

D.rush

(Posted on 06/10/2011)

the U90-MA-R Air reach is very efficient, and the long lead and good length hose combined with its light weight, make cleaning a pleasure.I have recommended the U90 to my friends.

(Posted on 06/10/2011)

Much better hoover than the old Dyson hoover we had much lighter. Can even go below the furniture much easier. So easy to use and the stair tool attachment is great and cleans all 13 steps on stairs with hoover still at bottom of stairs. Great product.

J Hutchison

(Posted on 05/10/2011)

Bought as a replacement for a Dyson which was increasingly becoming too heavy and cumbersome for me to use at 61 years of age. After two weeks of use not disappointed at all in my choice, certainly a lot lighter and easier to use and with the extended hose the added bonus of being much better for hoovering the stairs. Pleased with the suction and ease of emptying. A little concerned at the moment that it does tend to give off a lot of heat, otherwise more than happy with switching makes.

Alan

(Posted on 05/10/2011)

Lovely machine to use, extra long lead is really useful and light weight a bonus. Not to be forgotten is the very helpful backup staff on the other end of the helpline for what was a very minor cosmetic problem. Well done Vax.

'obsessed With Vacuuming!

(Posted on 05/10/2011)

Let me say firstly, I know all about vacs, having tried most makes. I was constantly searching for the elusive one to cover all my needs, and was failing miserably. I have several cats, 2 dogs, and 2 kids who seem to love to collect 'bits' when sitting down because whenever they stand up things like crumbs and hairs seem to fall from them all over the floor!

So having tried Panasonic, Dyson, Hoover, cheap Argos unbranded, Bush, and lastly before this, the Henry, I decided to go for this model after seeing one demo'd on QVC. I think finally it was the 10m power cord that did it.

As has been said, you can do your whole house without unplugging, unless you have 3 floors...and chances are if you do, you don't know what a vacuum cleaner looks like anyway.
This has made all the difference to me. Some brands only have a 5m cord which is ridiculous.

I love lots of features :

6 year guarantee (thats amazing!)

Long cord.

It's light to carry.

Adjustable handle height means I can store it under the stairs on it's low setting.

I can turn off the brush bar to do non-carpeted floors.

The brush bar light tells you there is a blockage( I sucked up a sock and it stopped going round immediately)

No belts to change!

It looks clean and modern.

If I had to pick one fault it would be this - the tube going into the body is a little short and unclipping it is fiddly as you have to bend down and tip the unit forward to find the clip.

All in all this is the best vacuum cleaner I have ever owned and I would like to thank Vax for ending my search!!

Seems very light which is ideal for my wife to use. Narrow and low beater area enables us to get under low areas such as beds, sideboards, tv tables etc. Suction very good. I like tyhe switch which enables or disables the beaters.

Generally a well designed vacuum cleaner which is light and easy to use. Cleaning ability is very good with surprising amounts of dust etc being sucked from our carpets. Half star deducted because sunction is too strong on lino floors, no height adjuster available!!

(Posted on 20/09/2011)

I recently bought a vax mach air after reading lots of positive reviews. Was very impressed by it, then decided to keep it at our static caravan and buy a second vax for home. This time I decided to get Air Reach because of its longer hose. My main criterion in choosing a new vacuum cleaner was to find a light weight one without sacrificing power. Both models have fulfilled this need extremely well, dealing efficiently with pet hairs from two cats and a dog.
The only slight drawback in the fantastic amount of suction is when it clamps like a limpet to small mats! Could a reduce suction option be incorporated in future models?

Peter Tailby

(Posted on 17/09/2011)

I am very impressed with my new machine. It is light compared to my old vacuum and the suction on it is very good. I like the mechanism that allows you to get into the brushes to clear any jams along with the cut out system. My only gripe, and it is a small one, is that the cable holder could be better designed to hold the extra long cable that comes with this model. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase.

A.nicoll

This machine replaced a Dyson DC22 one that we bought only three months ago,and boy what a difference this thing may be small but it punches well above it,s weight it is outstanding well done, it,s light compact but boy what a machine. Kind regards, P Beard

I have had two previous Vax machinces and always found them a very good product. I prefer them to Dyson which my family have. This cleaner is light and I'm amazed at the amount of stuff it picks up. It's easy to use and the cable is plenty long enough for me. Can't fault it at the moment.

Really impressed with my new Mach Air Reach. Much better suction than my old Dyson, and the filters are easier to get to as well. Only slight downside is that because it is so light, when you've got the tube at full stretch it can pull the machine over if you're not careful. Still, that's one of the reasons I bought it because of the light weight it's easier to carry up and down stairs so I can't moan too much.

Very pleased, ideal for reaching the length of the stairs, very powerfull vacum, very light and with being small capacity it's been designed to be so easy to empty. Have reccomended it to other retired friends, 5 star machine.

I am very impressed with this product so far. Powerful suction, easy to empty/clean and lightweight. It's easy to manoevure and as the base is thin it fits under chairs/furniture without having to move them which is great. Long cable is a bonus as it means you don't need to keep changing sockets etc.

I am absolutely delighted with this vacuum cleaner, it is so light, easy to manouvre and because of the slim design at the front I am able to get under furniture rather than have to pull out. I was so impressed with my purchase that a friend tried mine and has now ordered one for herself.

Light to move around but great suction. Picks up all dog hairs.Fits in well to clean under kitchen units. Really long cord for stairs and ease of use. Great reach for high places too. Easy to empty. Was not impressed with my last Vax and vowed never to have one again, but this model is superb!

(Posted on 30/08/2011)

Very satisfied with the purchase. Works very well and I feel is really one of the best cleaners I have used. Its hose length is long enough to reach the top of the stairs. Very light so doesn't strain the back. Picks up everything from all types of floors. Has a separate attachment to use on the long hose for the stairs which is as effective as the main head. Does a very good job.

I Have only had my Vax for a very short time but initial reaction is excellent. The cylinder I have replaced for my "upstairs" 2 bedrooms bathroom and landing, I used to empty every 2 uses. My new Vax needed emptying twice in one application! The coverage is far better, it goes much nearer to skirting boards and removes twice the fluff and pet hairs.
I have recomended it widely.
Yours sincerely

First couple of uses of the cleaner have been excellent,it cleans well,is easy to carry upstairs,in all a very good product, only improvment could be a cover of some kind over the open hole on the handle, something like our old Dyson had, your U90 has replaced the Dyson, and I feel it is a much better machine at a far lower price.

Great cleaner, could not believe how much stuff it picked up from the carpets in our rented house. Not the best on uneven hard floors even with its amazing suction. Wish it had variable brush height and retractable powercord.

very nice vacuum cleaner its very light, the suction on it is very powerful the only thing l would have liked to see was a function to be able you to change the suction l would recommend to the able body but not anyone who is not so steady on there feet as when my mother who is 92 tied it on my carpet she found it to powerful to push but on my laminate flooring she found it a very nice vacuum to push

(Posted on 20/08/2011)

I am obsessed with vacuum cleaners! I have been trying to locate the perfect one for months, up to now, to no avail. I have a house full of kids, dogs and cats so you can imagine the crumbs and hair. I vac the whole house once a day, including up the stairs and upstairs and also own 2 handhelds for in between.

Before buying the Mach Air Reach, I spent a week online reading reviews on every website that had them about this model. I had considered the orange Mach Air, but figured as I vacuum every day and not just a couple times a week, (which then, the Mach Air would have done me) I needed the stretch hose and the extra cable length of the Reach.

The plug goes in the hall, and I can reach every part of my 3 bed house with this without unplugging! Am so pleased with that feature. When doing the stairs I sometimes use the extra hose and leave the unit at the bottom of the stairs (like the other day after spending the full day before gardening, when my arms were aching) and sometimes, due to the really light weight of the unit, I just use the short hose and carry it up with my other hand (with the handle set at it's lowest, for ease).

Now for the suction - absolutely perfect. My previous Dyson never sucked like this ( and also it kept falling down the stairs due to it's poor weight balance - on it's 3rd fall, it fell to bits!) The Reach picks up my white cat's hairs from my wine carpet, my black cat's hairs from the cream sofa, my black dog's coarse wiry hairs from everywhere and my baby black and white cat's hairs from my bed. It also makes very light work of the kid's crumbs all over the place.

I love the way the brush bar stops by itself when you use any of the tools. I can't remember how many times i have frayed the edge of rugs etc and snapped hoover belts in the past due to things getting sucked up when I am vacuuming the sofa for example..which leads me to another great feature -there is no fiddle belt to replace!

I also love the on/off feature where on hard floors you can just turn off the brush bar with a press of the button. I use this on the kitchen floor and the wooden floor upstairs.

The tools are ingenious. If you store the 3-in-1 tool by pushing the long tool all the way inside the brush tool as far as it will go by pressing the button, it will clip easily onto the machine and stay there. The tool I like best for my pet hairs is actually the upholstery brush rather than the special Vax tool - I tend to save that one for the stairs.

So, to summarise, I am a vacuuming obsessive who vacuums EVERY day without fail (yes, even on Christmas day). I have been searching for a vac that has everything...and I have finally found it!

I love it though was dissapointed it didn't come with the turbo brush would also have liked the free hand free vacum with this as it was a replacement i wasn't sent one though the package on this vax stated one apart from that I would a;ways choose vax after service is second to none thank you

So far so good. I can now take the machine upstairs to do the cleaning there, without breaking my back carrying the 'old' machine up. Also, with a slightly smaller brush face, i can now get into small gaps etc without having to get the 'suction pipes' out.
The only draw-back, as with a number of vax products, is that clips to hold accessories are never tight enough. Even now, only a few weeks on, i've got the suction nozzle seperately in a plastic bag as it keeps falling off the machine.
Otherwise i'm happy with it - will give it a 4+ in rating as a 5 would have to be brilliant (which it may turn out to be later, but not yet)

Product purchased for carpet and hard floor surfaces. Very well designed and light to use. Seems to pick up most of the dirt. Would recommend it.

(Posted on 19/08/2011)

I am very impressed with the vax Air Reach, it has good suction on all floor surfaces and I particularly like the fact you just have to press a button and you can switch from hard floor cleaning to carpets.

I am able to vacuum my whole house without having to unplug the machine which is very handy.

The only down side, and it is a very small one, is that when you want to use the hose you have add all the bits to the hose that goes into the machine, rather than being able to just pull out the hose as it is from the machine.

I will definately buy another vax in the future as for the price I don't think that you can get better value for money.

(Posted on 16/08/2011)

Very pleased with it so far !. especially as it is light to handle. A bit annoying is the fact that the tools fall off the side, although this even happens with Dysons ! So not a major problem. Could improve by making the cylinder a larger capacity, so not having to empty as often.

Paul Ritson

(Posted on 15/08/2011)

I bought this machine because it was lightweight and easier for my wife to carry around. The suction is excellent and the long cable and hose make the vacuum very easy to use. My only minor issue is the poor clip for the tools means these often fall off the machine whilst doing upright vacuuming. I have now resorted to leaving these in the cupboard until I need them. The storage on the machine of the crevice nozzle/brush needs rethinking. It would also be good if the turbo brush was also stored on the machine.

David Pettet

(Posted on 14/08/2011)

We found our last vacuum did not get our dog hairs from the floors or carpets very well without alot of scrubbing up and down with hand tools on our knees. Those days have gone since we got our new Vax U90. This Vax effortlessly gets them up in less than half the time of the old vac. The tools provided get in all the places the upright can't go and the turbo brush is great and can be used on the stairs or the setee. This turbo brush really is good at getting dog hairs up and any other bits. I think this Vax is well designed and dismantels easily for cleaning or emptying. As long as you place the tools in the holder correctly on the thickest part of the brush bit they stay in place. Other reviews have said they fall out easily, I only had it happen once when the cable got pulled up behind the tools and pulled them out.
The only thing I have found with it is that because the Vax is held upright by a spring type mechanism and not a catch, it is wise to check that the head is on the floor, as sometimes it is not so needs to be pushed by your foot. Perhaps that when has been used more it will loosen up. For that reason alone I would not give it full marks.
I would say its the best vac I have owned or used and I got it at a bargain price from Amazon.

Jean Hart

(Posted on 14/08/2011)

I have never felt the desire to phone people after using a new hoover before but this is a world apart from any hoover I have previously used - even my last one which was a dyson. The suction was amazing - I couldn't believe how much dust came up when I have only hovered a week before. Its also so lightweight - it was a lot less effort than usual. I couldn't be more happy and have already started recommending Vax to my friends and family.

(Posted on 11/08/2011)

Small, neat, light and easy to use. However, it would be easy to modify slightly to store the turbo tool on the vacuum itself and it would be a huge improvement if you could switch to lower suction occasionally. Also, for those of us who have wooden stairs, an attachment like the turbo tool but without turbo would be handy. Otherwise, great little cleaner but won't be getting rid of my Miele just yet.

(Posted on 10/08/2011)

The U90-MA-R Air Reach is the best floor cleaner I have ever purchased. Great value for money. It ticks all of the boxes, i.e. exeptional suction, longer cable so reaches all areas without having to change sockets and the longer hose really does what it says and reaches to the top of the stairs without having to put any excess pull on it, which is normally the reason as to why I have to replace my floor cleaners (split hoses). I have recomended it to several friends and family members.

I love this vax because I am a pensioner and find it difficult to carry a heavy hoover around. It glides across the floor easier and it seems to pick up more rubbish off the floor than i can actually see which is great. Ideal for up the stairs too as I leave it at the bottom. I would definitely recommend it to someone else.

Hi having used the vax a few times now I can only say we are very pleased with its performance. We needed to go for a lighter vac as the previous Dyson was getting too heavy to throw around any longer. My main concern was going for a less powerful cleaner, but having used it we have found it to be as good as the more powerful models. My only minus is that it is a bit of a pain connecting up the extension hose.

Fantastic suction, very light & compact. Does everything I want it to. The only criticism I have is that the upper bracket for holding the lead is too short. Once the lead is wound round completely it's almost spilling over the top. A retractable lead would have made this vacuum A**

Alan Bjorkvoll

(Posted on 01/08/2011)

So far delighted with the product. Rear wheels could be designed to be wider so as to leave no wheel tracks on carpets. Also an adaptor to use with the hose that can be used in in some circumstances instead of the hanhdle would be better as the brush direct oton the end of the hose is awkward.

Peter Longthorne

(Posted on 27/07/2011)

This machine does just what it claims - very effective vacuuming, great reach on the stairs and a useful long power cable. We changed from an upright Dyson as the reviews were so positive and we have to agree. It is more effective than the Dyson (which itself is a good machine) AND it is significantly lighter- a great plus point. Difficult to find a critical point to make and the only one we can think of is that the attachment comes away from the storage hold on the handle too easily during operation.

(Posted on 24/07/2011)

Very please with the delivery time,it came a lot quicker than expected.
The cleaner itself I am very pleased with generally. I had a Vax before but was very heavy. I have recently been diagnosed with a degeneration of the lower back so I wanted a ligher cleaner, this fits the bill exactly and am very pleased with the performance.
I do have just one crisicism, and that is, you can only store the combination attachment on the cleaner the one where they all fit together, and the place where it is put on the back of the handle is not secure enough for it to stay there,it keeps falling off. The other attachment the big brush for the stairs doesn't seem to be able to be stored on the cleaner.

By far the best vacuum cleaner I have ever owned. Superb for all duties around our three storey house. Only one small niggle which your design team should be able to overcome easily. The extrs long power cable is excellent when cleaning whole house but it would be nice to retain half of it on the machine when only doing one room.My husband is currently looking at fitting such an attachement to the cable retainer to achieve this.Forget to mention the ease with which the machine itself can be cleaned after use.Again the best yet. This hoover is light, easy to use, very good suction - makes you wonder where all the dust and dirt comes from. The cord is a good length so you don't have to keep on unplugging it when going into different rooms or upstairs. It is certainly one I would recommend and is far better than the Dyson hoover I had previously. In my experience, it is also a lot quieter than most. Above all, it is very good value for money and a good investment, especiaoly with the 6 year guarantee.

Absolutely love it, it is so light and the extra cable is well worth it. You can now actually hoover under the radiators without having to get a hand held carpet brush out!!! The only thing I do find a little annoying is that when you go from one surface to another, say tiled floor to a rug, you do have to lift the whole machine up and over, you can't just run onto the other level. Other than that I am highly satisfied don't know why it has taken me so long to try a Vax.

I had previously bought a similar model for my mother, aged 91, who needed a light-weight vacuum cleaner. She moaned about it but that is what old ladies do if there is change. She is slowly getting used to it and now only complains about next doors cat doing No. 2's in her garden.
BUT I was impreseed and recently bought the model above. My wife loves it, light-weight, long cord, long hose, a great suck, dead easy to empty and brilliant access to the front brush to remove cotton wrapped around it. I like it because she won't let me use it - that's what I call a sound investment.

This replaced the Dyson DC10 we have had for yonks.

By the way, I don't have a cat poo problem since I invested in cork gun. You should see them run!!!

In my opinion it is the ideal cleaner as it is light, manoeuvrable and powerful. Would suit anyone who has a problem with using heavy items. The dust collection chamber is smaller on this machine but thats the trade of for being so light and compact and I know what I prefer. I'm very pleased with it. I had been using an electrolux cylinder model for 15 years. Nothing wrong with it but too heavy for me, not enough power. Over the years I looked for a light upright, but all too heavy. This model is first class. Plenty of power, good suction, easy to empty, easy to use. It sometimes gets a little hot and may be slightly underpowered for - say - a house where there are pets and a family. There are two of us, so not used as often as a busy family home would be.

I have found my VAX AIR REACH very good like it says on the tin it is very light to use and carry about. The extended hose is great when cleaning the stairs and the extra long flex means I can do all the downstairs( 3 bedroom semi ) without having to change sockets. If there is one downside it is that the three in one tool keeps falling off it's storage clip.

Pauline

I love it. I actually do!!! I hate vacuums they are cumbersome and never seem to do what they should. I never thought one would. Well at last here is one that actually does!!! My carpets have never been cleaner, its a little powerhouse. I keep looking at my carpet and smiling. It is easy to lift and move around without tiring me out!! The attachments are so useful especially the turbo head. Has it a downside of course it does( all things do), its just the hose attachment at the bottom is a bit fiddly, but future use will speed this up, and when you wind up the long, long lead I wish the clip bit was a bit more "clippable". Ideal for smaller houses and anyone who finds heavy vacuums hard to use.

So far we are pleased with the U90-MA-R Air Reach. Firstly the Air Reach looks good but more importantly the light weight makes hoovering easy to push around furniture and carry up and down the stairs, not to mention more easy on your back. We Thought the lack of being able to change the ride height on different carpet lengths would be a problem but it turned out not to be to bad (not perfect on thin parts or mats - have a fight on your hands because the suction is so powerful), but it surprised us by hoovering the big rug with ease (something that was hard to do with our old hoover).

Next we tried the tools, detached the hose from the bottom of the hoover (we have bad backs) but that wasn't a problem as you just push the button and it popps off with ease. The 3 in one tool (what a great idea) worked well and fits on the hoover ok (are old hoover the tools kept falling off and became a pain). The turbo tool was very good on the curtains where are cat leaves lots of hair when brushing past them to sit on the window ledge. The extention is good for easy to reach parts, for hard parts the handle attached to the extension gives you the reach very well. Using the long reach on the stairs, I got to the 3 stair from the top (13 total) and struggled to be honest, it reaches but not with ease just a little akward.

Cleaning out the Air Reach is easy with a press of the button. You can only wash one of the filters, the moter filter you can't. I'm not sure how long the moter filter lasts but i would like that to be washable in the future. Don't get me wrong the Air Reach works fine but I do prefer are old Morphy Richards - Perform Air, cleaning system and all the air filters on that one can be washed.

The brush turns on and off for carpet to hard floor, we leave it on to be honest. The left/right side of the hoover at the front has a soft rubber bit that seems to be wearing off a little too easy when you hoover skirting boards or like the front of are stone fireplace but that can't be helped and as long as the rubber bit lasts it should be ok - its a very minor thing.

If I had to say one bad thing about this Mach Air Reach it would be the handle grip, when your palm gets sweaty you loose grip while hoovering and can make hoovering a litte akward at times.

Overall it pickes up dirt very well, does what you need it to do. Very good hoover and I would recommend this one to anyone.

really pleased with my purchase, its lightweight and easy to use and does the job really well (wall to wall). The cord is longer than my last vacuum cleaner which I like. It is easy to empty and works well on both carpet and wooden floor.

I thought that the vax was quite a bit lighter than the dyson that I usually use. Being only 5 foot I appreciated the handle being at the correct height for me to use. It was brilliant for stairs - no more carrying hoovers up and down trying to hoover stairs.

Even my daughter has used it and thought that its size and weight was good for an older person to use.

I would certainly recommend the vax to others.

Brilliant! I have arthritis and find this machine is so much easier to use than the larger heavier models, yet it still does a fantastic job. I would use this machine regadless of health problems as it's great for manuvering round furniture too.I have used many of the well known brands including Dyson and this machine beats the lot.The only thing I would change is,that I would have liked to be able to use the dusting brush independantly from the crevice tool but hey, you can't have everything! and I can probably find one to fit.

(Posted on 08/06/2011)

It is good that it is lightweight due to my rhematoid arthritis, however where the handle exstends in order to push/pull it whilst cleaning, it feels somewhat insecure; a bit wobbley.

When the handle is not extended it is quite compact and therefore easy to store, unlike some machines where the handle is fixed.

I am please with the suction the model provides but do not like the way that two of the three attachments fix to the back of the machine but the third doesn't have anywhere to secure it too.

The only other comment is with regard to the brushes, being from a home with three females with long hair, the brushes quickly become clogged with hair, this leads me to feel if it is not removed on a very regular basis, the suction and performance of the machine will quickly become commpromised. This is something that needs addressing.

Brilliant machine and easy to move around. The long cable is very helpful but the lugs around which the cable is looped could be slightly larger as the cable tends to completely fill the space provided. Very easy to empty and overall very pleased with it. The VAX helpline is also very helpful when needed as I did on the first 'run'.

I already own a vax carpet washer and decided on this mach air reach machine after my 10 yr old dyson became terminal (more expensive to repair than getting a new one) and bought it on line.

It is the lightest and really efficient machine. Its no longer a real chore to go up and down the stairs. Picks up dog hair really well, and the chamber is easy to empty. Its relatively quiet too (doesn't scare the dog!)
The adjustable height handle is great as I'm quite tall- no more stooping and aching back! Consequently its easy to store away as well.
So I'm very happy with it!

I have been very impressed with my new vacuum cleaner. Not only has it great suction but it is incredibly lightweight. Hoovering is now no longer a chore ( as it was using my previous Dyson) I think I could almost describe it as a pleasure. Certainly a Hoover to be recommended to anyone who is of the older generation.

A fantastic lightweight machine that has incredible power.the smaller than usual head is able to glide into the most awkward of places without the need to attach any of the four cleaning accessories that are supplied with this model. Also the days of cleaning the stairs with one hand while holding a bulky vacuum are well behind me as this model is supplied with an extending tube which stretches from the bottom of the staircase to the top,oh! and by the way this is the most quietest of vacuums i have ever purchased and if that was not enough this Vax machine comes with a 6 year labour and parts warranty,an absolute steal.Thank you Vax one extremely happy customer.

I am so pleased with this Vax Mach Air. Not only is it lovely and light to handle but it is so efficient. All the extra tools are so handy and easy to use. Compared to my Dyson which was good but it was so heavy this is brilliant , can't praise it enough and good value for money too.

Yvette Main

(Posted on 05/06/2011)

The first thing I noticed was how incredibly light this machine is. It is small, easy to handle, but does the job even better than larger machines. Some reviews comment on the high noise level, I have not found this a problem at all. The tools are very easy to attach and emptying the cylinder is a breeze. Overall I am extremely pleased with this machine. It may be small, but it's very powerful (the turbo head attachment is amazing on the stairs)and the retracting handle means it's easy to store. I love the extra long cable, it makes life so much easier when you don't have to keep stopping between rooms to unplug. I can't think of anything I am unhappy with, and would definitely recommend this machine, it's a WOW!!!!

I went to buy a dyson and was told that vax was equally as good with a longer guarantee so I thought what the heck i'll give it a try. Well I can tell you I love it, it has great suction, is light weight, doesn't take up too much space in the cupboard, I'm impressed with the length of the electric cable and the hose which reaches to the top of my stair case, its also easy to empty, so i'm giving it a big thumbs up.

This is hoover is super light, neat and has good attatchment's.It's good on carpet, especially on the stair's due to the long hose. However it is rubbish on the wooden and tiled flooring.Which we have everywhere except the stair's and landing! It take's you to go over and over again before it actually remove's the dirt.I was torn between this and the dyson and unfortunatly am very dissapointed.great for carpet's and excellent due to size etc,but not any good for me.

Lightweight cleaner purchased to replace Dyson that was worn out and too heavy for the stairs. The vax is very easy to use as an upright cleaner and also with the hose attached we can clean our stair carpet using the pet hair removal brush bar with great ease. One down side is there is nowhere to keep this attachment with the cleaner as all the other tools are fitted at the rear although they are not securely attached and keep falling off. Maybe a re-design of this part is required

this is great the long hose reaches right up the stairs no problem its very light weight but built very well copes well on carpeted floors as-well as hard would recommend to any one who needs to carry a hoover around floor to floor good all rounder

Mr G P Cook

(Posted on 03/06/2011)

Great product easy to use and maintain. Had a problem with the bottom hose connector separating from the hose. However call to service number had a replacement part in the post the same day, very good service, although the clip on our original was purple and the replacement was orange, but not visible in use. I tried connecting the hose to an electric sander. Not very successful, the airflow through the sander was obviously restricted and this caused the hose to collapse under pressure where it emerged from the bottom of the vax.
So just used the vax to collect the dust as it was sanded off the wall
No damage resulted from connecting the sander though.

Mrs Speirs

(Posted on 02/06/2011)

Although I have only owned this product for a short time, so far, I am delighted with its performance. It is very light weight, ideal for the elderly, with great suction and minimal noise. The only downside, for me, is that the bin has to emptied quite often but perhaps that is due to the fact that my carpets are new, this will probably calm down as the carpets settle. All in all, this is a very neat vax, requiring little storage space, and easily the best machine I have ever purchased.

Mr Alan Brown

(Posted on 02/06/2011)

I like the fact the U90-MA-R Mack Air Reach is so compact and the suction is so powerful, it has a nice long cable which enables you to clean most of the house without having to keep unplugging the cleaner. It so slimline it reaches all those tricky areas without to much fuss, it is also very light weight so I can take it up and down the stair easily. I think this is a smashing little vacume cleaner. It maybe small but it performs big.

S Duffield

(Posted on 01/06/2011)

Very pleased overall but the long lead is difficult to wind around the provided short distance catches - a motorised rewind would be a big improvement. Also the capacity is small compared with our previous Dyson. However the lightness outways this and the 6 year cover is a big comfort. Instruction book not very clear especially on how to fit the attachments.

Susanne Price

Great Hoover, as good as a Dyson for half the price.

Paul L

(Posted on 01/06/2011)

The cleaner itself is very good, excellent suction and brush head 'floating' keeps a constant distance to various carpets. The only downside is tool storage, there is nowhere to keep the turbo tool.
Compared to my other cleaner, the Mach7 anniversary, it does seem to be more of a second cleaner, rather than a primary use one.

Sara-jane Claydon

(Posted on 01/06/2011)

I would have preffered to be able to keep the two implements for close range cleaning on the hoover at all times. Also, having to put the hose together everytime is a bit of a nusicence. However, suction is excellent, cleaning easy and I like the weight of the machine as its very easy to carry around. SJ

Elizabeth Mulholland

(Posted on 31/05/2011)

I have only used the machine a couple of times, however, I am very pleased with it and appreciate it being so light to use. My only complaint would be that I cannot choose the power level. Other machines I have had lets you reduce the suction.

Mark Stock

(Posted on 31/05/2011)

The attachment does not fit correctly into the holder so always falls off, thus now keep it in a cupboard for safe keeping. Attaching the extension hose and the handle for stair cleaning is a bit of a pain. Collection box for the dirt is quite small compared to previous cleaner. The suction power is excellent and the machine is very light weight so easy to move around.Previous machine was a Dyson and both have quality features without one being better than the other, although attachments on the Dyson were far easier to use - maybe you could adopt this approach in future machines.

Delivered via Amazon in minimal time, installation simple and quick, a delight to use, our staircase carpet has never been so dust free using the splendid attachment. Having thrown our Dyson away some years ago due to a badly designed cable inlet and power switch that constantly failed due to the cable flexing in use. Bought as an expedient a Panasonic but it decided to die half way through a mornings housework. When this Vax U90-MA-R Mach Air Reach next day - it has really been a joy to use. Light but not frail. (Posted on 30/05/2011)

Great product, light weight, lots of suck and great length extension pipe.Easy to empty too! The basic pipe could do with being a bit longer or having a bracket that releases more of it and the tool holder is useless! keeps falling off:-(

Mrs L M Pratt

(Posted on 30/05/2011)

I am really pleased with my new cleaner as it is the light weight that I needed. It picks up very well and the long lead means that I can do each storey of the house from a central point. The long stretchy hose is very good for doing the stairs - my only hope is that it is robust and lasts with all the expanding and contracting. I am not so happy with the tools that clip on the handle - they get in the way of the quick release cable clip and I am having difficulty separating the two tools. However, the lightweight general useage gives it a 4 out of 5 rating.

(Posted on 29/05/2011)

Over the past 20 years I have bought many vacuum cleaners and have never yet been 100% pleased with any of them. I have had about 10 different models of Dyson and found the hand extension both awkward to use and inefficient. They were all unbalanced and continually falling over, often breaking components like the handle. I recently sent for a new handle for one that had fallen over and broken, and that fell over and broke again within a fortnight. So I decided to try a Vax when I saw it on show in Comet. I am amazed at its efficiency. The dust it collected in the cylinder amazed me. It is well balanced, extremely light and easy to manoeuvre. We had previously brushed down the carpeted stairs to our attic accommodation, but then went over the stairs with the Vax tool. Again it filled the cylinder and picked up every dog hair we had missed with the dustpan and brush. The long lead is good as you can travel further without having to unplug and plug in again in another room. The only criticism I have is that the tool that sits on the back of the machine keeps falling off. But then it is not such a terrible inconvenience to fetch it from the cupboard when needed. I was so impressed with this Vax that I have bought another one to use upstairs so that I don't have to carry it up and downstairs.

Alison Gillman

(Posted on 29/05/2011)

Nice light weight machine. Good suction, even makes short work on the hairs knitted into the carpet from my 2 dogs. Having the long lead means I can vacuum the whole house without unplugging too many times. So far so good, plus the 6 year guarantee is a bonus!

Richard Baggaley

(Posted on 28/05/2011)

Light and very manoeuvrable, goes anywhere our old Dyson could not. Suction is excellent and the long reach hose is gives access to the full height of t5he stairs and landing areas. Only downside is the light weight of the brush head that tends to raise up occasionally when is use. All in all this VAX beets our old Dyson hands down.

This is a vast/huge improvement on the much heavier and noisier model we exchanged for it. Your Customer Service Department was excellent in dealing with my complaint. This U90-MA-R Mach Air Reach model is a totally superior machine. The noise is normal for a vacuum cleaner. The suction is very powerful. The machine is extremely light. The front section is well designed to get around the corners of things and it is low to the floor. The ability to lower the upright section flat to the floor is excellent. The tools are very good and easy to fit.
The hose sections and using the handle make an extremely versatile and easy-to-use system. The fitting system is very ingenious and, like all good things, it is simple. The ability to switch the brush rotation on and off is very useful. The cleaning/emptying could hardly be easier. The cable is very long and reduces the number of socket changes needed around the house. Congratulations all round! This cleaner is a pleasure to use. This is the model you should be pushing hard in sales - it's a winner!

The most efficient carpet sweeper. Light, low noise, easy interchange of attachments. Have used a Dyson for years, but prefer this Vax model. Smaller dust collection unit so requires emptying more frequently, but this is no issue. Can't fault it - exceptional, absolutely delighted with my purchase.

Mr Stephen Smith

(Posted on 27/05/2011)

What a great hoover for half the price of a Dyson, and in my opinion just as good if not better. i can hoover the whole top floor from one plug socket due to the length of the power lead.the weight is very light for a hoover so powerful.the low front means it is good for getting under the front of sofas etc.very pleased with my purchase.

Trevor Wilkin

(Posted on 27/05/2011)

The Machine is good on muck. It is extremely east to clean, the plastic cylinder is simply held over the wheelie bin & the latch released. If further cleaning is required, the cylone unit can be flushed through with water & quiclky dried with a tissue. The motorized head brushes can simply be switched on or off as required for hard floors or carpets. I find the simplicity of the design means that there isn't a lot to go wrong. the whole unit is very light & the suction is strong. The power cable at 10 mtres long (33 feet) is more than ample. Regards, Trevor R. Wilkin.

David Brown

(Posted on 27/05/2011)

Generally pleased with the cleaner, but there are some aspects of it's design and performance that dissapoint.....

Plus points...

1 Good suction
2 Pleasing design
3 Easy to empty
4 Small footprint
5 Small brush-head allows cleaning under low furniture
6 Light weight (but see minus point below)

Minus points.....

1 Whilst the light weight means it's easy to carry around, the good suction makes it unexpectdly difficult to push / pull during use

2 I don't think the performance of the turbo-brush is particularly impressive in tasks like stair cleaning

Mr S Cheeseman

great little hoover. nice & Light easy to use. Hoovered up loads of dirt straight after I'd used my old one too!!! the stair attachment & extra hose is a bit fiddley but great.long wire is fab - plug it into the kitchen & does the whole house without having to move the plug.

Sandra

(Posted on 26/05/2011)

Very impressed. Good suction. Really like the long lead, can plug in a central position and do most rooms without having to re-plug in. To use the extension hose takes some getting used to but gradually getting used to it and its long reach is ver good for stairs. Had several dysons in the past and think vax are an excellent alternative. Competitive price influenced my choice on this occasion.

(Posted on 25/05/2011)

I love this machine, have been hoovering nearly everyday, my carpets look like new. I had the vax model that washes as well as hoovers it was such hard work, I'd do upstairs have a break then do downstairs, now the whole house is done and I don't look like a wet rag. I will also always have an upright hoover in future.

Aj Green

(Posted on 25/05/2011)

The Mach Air Reach for me is light, and the extending handle is great as it makes it more comfortable to use, I love the lengh of the cable because I can plug it in at one power point and hoover the whole bungalow, it's easy enough to use the attachments with regards to the extension hoses and it's not bulky, the only problem I have are the attachments and the housing, there is a small area in the middle of the wound cable where two of the attachment sit, kind of, but not firmly, and when you take the cable off to use they fall off, I also have a turbo attachment which doesn't fit on the hoover any where. Over all very easy to use and one of the best hoovers i have used.

I am absolutely amazed by the efficiency of this model, it collects up dust from deep in the carpets and is really easy to use. The dust container is simple to empty, and the long flex saves time plugging and unplugging.

Laura Perham

(Posted on 24/05/2011)

The Mach Air Reach was very simple to put together and was ready to go in 5 minutes. It's small and light but still extremely powerful, nice to look at too! The extra brush at the front makes it so easy to pick up hair and bits of fluff (this can be turned off when not needed). It comes with extra fittings which are very easy to attach and use. The power cable is very long for moving from room to room and the hose part also stretches a long way. It picked up all the dirt on the floor (there was worryingly quite a lot!) but vacuuming since that initial go has proved the carpet to be a lot cleaner now. While the actual container for the dust/dirt looks small, it does hold a lot and 5 goes later, I haven

(Posted on 24/05/2011)

The VAX does the job. It is small, powerful, gets into those places often difficult to get into with larger vacuum cleaners. It is light and very easy to use. The suction is strong, and I would not think of buying anything else. The tools it comes with are very useful, and with a long extension lead makes this vacuum cleaner a must buy for the small houses like mine. I find it a dream to work with, and although the cyclinder is small it is easy to empty and off I go again.

David Sands

(Posted on 24/05/2011)

This is our second Vax vacuum cleaner, and we also have a vax carpet shampoo cleaner. This new model is superb. It finds fluff our old cleaner was missing, and leaves the carpet pile looking like new. It is so lightweight, my wife can carry it upstairs one handed, as with the old machine, I had to carry it for her. I'm all heart. All in all I would highly recommend it.

Sly

(Posted on 24/05/2011)

Great lightweight vacuum cleaner with brilliant performance. Lead is extra long - a bit too long but that's just personal opinion. Hose design using handle is a great idea but just that without the attachment is too short. Attaching the extra hose is a bit fiddly but once on stretches a long way. Easy to empty and keep clean.

J Gillman

Mrs Andrews

(Posted on 23/05/2011)

After years of a heavy upright vacuum cleaner this machine is a joy to use. No more putting off 'doing the stairs', this cleaner is light and does them with ease. The suction is excellent, my carpets have never looked better and with various floor surfaces in our house including tiles and floorboards it's just the flick of switch to alter the brushbar setting! I have no hesitation in recommending this cleaner to prospective buyers.

(Posted on 23/05/2011)

I have got through quite a few hoovers in the past, my last purchase being a Vax and I was very pleased with it, so when I had to replace it I was only looking at Vax's. I decided on the Mach Air due to the lightness of it and because it had a 6 year guarantee. I have so far been very pleased with the performance, although as it is picking up so much dust and debris I do have to empty it more often, but surely thats a good thing as the dirt is not on my carpets!!

Jackie Walker

(Posted on 23/05/2011)

I cannot fault the U90-MA-R Mach Air Reach at all. The first time I used the machine, it demonstrated the inefficiency of my old cleaner; I had to empty the 'dust' after every room! To date, it is the best vacuum cleaner I have owned (throughout a 37 year period.) My carpets look brighter than they have for years. The added bonus for me is the light weight of the machine. Also, the long hose and power head attachment mean cleaning the stairs is a doddle. Brilliant.

I dont normally bother to write reviews but I was so impressed with the Mach Air Reach I felt I needed to do a review. Firstly I have to say when I was reading reviews before the purchase they were so positive about Vax and slating Dyson I questioned their validity, however on using this vac I totally agree with all the merits, I wanted a light weight hoover as I wanted the kids (soon to be teens) to hoover their own rooms, and they can manage to get this up and down the stairs on their own, it has a nice long hose which is stored on board and clicks into place quickly and I tested it in the shop to make sure the vac doesnt topple over when pulling on the hose, and it doesnt it just spins round or follows you, it has a right up to the egde clean which is excellent, I was initially disappointed it didnt come with a 12" size cleaning head for my wooden floor, but then soon realised it has a switch to turn off the brush head to turn the vac into a hard floor cleaner - brilliant - it will also reach right under the sofa as the handle will lay back virtually to the floor, the only thing that is a hitch is you are unable to carry the tools onboard as per the picture as the cord hook is in the wrong place, but far too many benefits for this to be an issue.

Fantastic machine. Very light, easily manouvreable with great suction power. Suits all areas of the house and so easy to use even my kids will hoover their bedrooms!

Excellent suction, very lightweight and easy to use. The only reason I haven't given it 5 is because the accessories don't fit in the holder very securely. Otherwise great cleaner.

Lightweight and easy to use, even on the stairs. Excellent suction - cleaning carpets thoroughly and bringing up the pile and removing dog hair easily. As we have a long haired dog though we have to keep removing dog hairs that have wound themselves round the brush. Overall an excellent cleaner.

I bought this vacuum to use for the upstairs due to my wife's incapacity. After first using it we decided that it was such a good vacuum and so light and easy to carry that we use it for the whole house. It has good suction and easily goes under furniture that other vacuums are just too big and clumsy to do. An excellent vacuum, well worth the money.

Good vacuum cleaner and overall happy. I find the use of attachments quite fiddly and a bit of a pain as I like to switch from floor cleaning to attachments fairly frequently. The stair brush is difficult to use on full hose as the head is fixed flat so I still have to carry the cleaner up the stairs; fortunately it's very light. Finally, does not seem to be so much suction on hard floors i.e. without brush roll. Overall, the cleaner suits me though as I wanted something light, adaptable with excellent suction. It's certainly effortless to push and carry around. I was stunned on first use to see how much dirt it collected from our carpets. The extended warranty is also an excellent bonus. Well done Vax. A good match for the Dyson. I am now looking at buying a Vax carpet shampoo machine.

Had it 3 weeks now. Was impressed by its looks and build. Plus points are pretty quiet compared to the last Dyson i had, strong effective suction,a bit too strong on my kitchen cushion floor as i have to break the seal often as it sucks itself to the floor.Very pleased with it. Minus Points : no where to store the Turbo Brush on board : no crevis tool.

The vaccum is very good but the clip for the tools inbetween the cable is not strong enough to hold the tools and they drop off also know where to store the other tool that is for stair ect.

(Posted on 16/05/2011)

I have had my Vax now for about 3 weeks.I find it is an excellent machine. Specially light weigh, this makes it very easy to handle. Cleaning the stair is a doddle no taking it to the top to clean half way and then down again. Stairs done all in one go. I can only find one thing I would add, to make this machine perfect. I would add a manual carpet thickness adjuster. I know they say it does it automatically but it is better if you can set the thickness of your carpet or rugs, some rugs are really thick as opposed to carpet. Otherwise change nothing. We are delighted with our Vax. Light and easy to use and empty. Although I, the husband, am the usual user, my wife is now able to do the vacuuming should it be necessary, unlike with the Vax's predecessor which was far too heavy. Despite its lighter weight the Vax cleans just as well as the previous machine.

We have already recommended our model to a neighbour who has now purchased one.

We are in our 80s and ease of use is important to us.

Mark Mallett

(Posted on 08/05/2011)

Excellent design, particularly the t-shape front-end, which appears unique to VAX, this allows easy cleaning between chair legs, etc.
3 points for improvement:
1) No means of reducing suction power on different surfaces - light carpets/floor coverings often get lifted/stick on nozzel.
2) Lacing mains cable in figure-8 fashion, avoids cable getting knotted due to repeated wrapping around binding clips in circular fashion, on rear of unit. Clips aren't really big enough for this and I needed to remove nozzle/tool holder clip.
3) Handle has uncomfortable/sharp ridge where it would link/clip on to extension hose. Put another ridge around the handle, for more comfortable feel, without lossing ability to attch hose.

Mike Reed

(Posted on 08/05/2011)

An excellent product.

Herbert Foley

(Posted on 07/05/2011)

It is lighter than most vacs, is more powerful than most, has a useful length of flex. It doesn't feel very robust but has a long guarantee so I assume it is OK. The suction is sometimes too strong - when doing loose mats for example - so a control to reduce the suction might be useful.

I would prefer the cable to come out of the machine higher than it does so that it is easier to hold whilst using the machine, but I realize that the handle is used as an extension tube so the wire can't come for there.

I would like to store the accessories on the Vax rather than having them separate. I find the clips that secure tubes etc rather difficult - I am in my eighties so my fingers are not as strong as they were!

I dislike emptying the container - I am used to using dust bags and think they were better. It's rather messy to clean the filters.

On the positive side I like the way the roller brushes work and that it is easy to switch them off.

As you can see I am not very enthusiastic about my Vax but on balance I am glad I bought it.

Henry Banks

(Posted on 06/05/2011)

I did a large amount of research before settling on the U90-MA-R Mach Air reach, and read all the positive reviews and decided it would suit my needs. I must admit I was still suprised how small it looks when you unpack it especially compared to my old dyson. It is however a very effective hoover and although the cylinder seems small I can easily clean my house top to bottom, and the cylinder will not be totally full. I also have a large dog who sheds dark dog hair on light beige carpets and these are coming up really well using this hoover. It is much easier and lighter to carry up stairs and manoeuvre than my heavy old dyson and is easy to empty and maintain. Overall very pleased and the 6 year guarantee is an added bonus.

Did initially have a slight problem with the motor being faulty but it was collected and fixed very quickly and I think it is an excellent little hoover with great suction and easy to move around and the connections are easy to use. I had a Dyson before and found it very heavy and cumbersome to use compared to the lighterweight Vax. All-in-all I think it was an excellent buy and would not hesitate recommending it to anyone else.

R.j.bowsher

(Posted on 13/04/2011)

This is an excellent product, light & easy to carry good suction with less power consumption than our previous vacuum cleaner, attachments are easy to fix. The turbo tool brush needs a bracket to clip it to the main body when not in use, this is the only fault we could find with it

A Pearey

(Posted on 12/04/2011)

So light, slimline and easy to manoeuvre. An actual pleasure to use!

I think the lead is a bit too long, and the hose too short. Even with the extra hose attachment I can't quite reach the top step from the bottom of my stairs. I also find the tool attachments a bit fiddly to use and hook back onto the body of the vacuum cleaner.

Having said this, I would never, ever, ever go back to using a heavy, smelly, noisy, useless Dyson again! I spent a lot of time shopping around for a better alternative, and my Vax is certainly that!

I like the fact that it only has a small chamber for dust, as it means it is so much lighter, and it also means I clean it out more frequently, so it always runs really well. The flip up cover for the brushes is really easy to open, to pull out anything that gets wrapped around the turning brushes. I also think the adjustable height handle is a great idea.

My carpets look like new again since I started using my Vax cleaner. My mum has also bought one after I praised mine so much, and she is just as pleased with hers.

Eamonn

Paul

(Posted on 10/04/2011)

Excellent vacuum cleaner, twice as powerful as a dyson with superior pick up, v. light and compact. product has been innovatively designed with the end user in mind.i think for future design modifications, a space for the turbo tool so it can be clipped to the machine when not being used would be handy, and a retractable power cord, either on a sprung loaded pulley system, or a hand wound reel would make putting it away more efficient and give it an edge over other upright vacuum cleaners in the market place.

Erica Wilkinson

(Posted on 08/04/2011)

Excellent vacuum cleaner, lightweight yet powerful, extra long lead - this machine not only looks good but does what it says on the box. So far we could not be more pleased with the results. We have two dogs and a long haired cat, so we wanted a machine that could deal with animal hairs effectively and it does.

This product is the best hoover I have used in a long time. I have had a Dyson for the past 15 years which I have had repaired on numerous occasions. On using my new Vax i realised how efficient this new machine is. I will reccommend it to all..

Gaynor Mountford

(Posted on 06/04/2011)

I love my new Vax i have always had a Dyson but since my disability i can not use them. This hoover has so much suction it does try to suck the carpet up, also the pipe to extend for going up stairs is tricky. But other than that i love it.

Linda

(Posted on 05/04/2011)

Generally happy with this cleaner - above average overall performance. It is relatively lightweight, of solid construction, picks up animal hair efficiently and cleans stairs thoroughly with the relevant attachments. Very similar working parts to the Dyson roller ball models but significantly cheaper! Have had to change the filters after 3m but the cleaner has been heavily used within a multi-pet household. There is a need to be precise when reassembling the constituent parts after maintenance. Impressive guarantee and good response from Vax when requiring new filters. The small operation & maintenance leaflet could be extended in the troubleshooting section - flow charts?

Really pleased with this hoover, longer than normal cord a big plus and cat hairs are no problem for it. Lightweight and easy to use, only negative is onboard tool storage keeps falling off but overall an excellent buy.

P J Reynier

(Posted on 04/04/2011)

Excellent. Very efficient. Does the stairs. The only annoying feature is that the mains cord comes out quite low down, so you have to bend quite low to gather it to stop it becoming tangled in the machine. Otherwise, we are very pleased with it!

Mrs Jennifer M Wood

(Posted on 03/04/2011)

After using a Dyson for a number of years my VAX is like using a breath of spring. It is so much lighter than the Dyson, which I got to hate using as it was so heavy, Now I can zoom around and not have to have a rest half way through. It cleans my cat's hairs up as well as if not better than the Dyson. Taking everything into account I wish I had bought my Vax sooner.

Karen

(Posted on 01/04/2011)

i like this hoover as i find it has a very good cleaning power as the suction is excellant. the only downside is the hose which is quite time consuming and fiddly as you have to unclick and attach to another bit of hose.i think this should have been designed like the dyson where you unclick the handle and away you go

Diane Theakstone

Ian Smith

(Posted on 31/03/2011)

Overall excellent. Light & easy to use. It picks up very well and the low height of the head allows it to get under furniture, chairs etc. Tools work well although unclipping the hose and fitting them is slightly fiddly. Streets ahead of the Dyson cleaner it replaced.

Rona Parker

(Posted on 29/03/2011)

Brilliant cleaner.
Had a Dyson x 3 for 12 years and was switched to this by Comet in Mansfield. got to be honest was unsure until we started to use it and the power was over and above what we have had before and way better than the DC04 it replaced.

2 little niggles though.
1, the pipe attachments are fiddly to say the least and the storage of them is terrible, this needs to improve as to do stairs, sofas and other items you have to stop...detach...find...mess....start again! then go through it all again to clean the next floor!

2, the cable bobbins are far too small for the length of cable and creates lots of swearing when it keeps falling of the bobbins...grrr!

Other than that not a thing is wrong with it.

Kind regards,

Vernon & Rona Parker.

I've recently purchased the Vax and so far I'm very pleased especially with the strength of its suction. One thing that might be of concern is that the brush bar seems very sensitive and I've had to depress the side button twice in its short use

Dr R E Leak

(Posted on 16/03/2011)

Generally I am very pleased with the machine. It is easy to carry, has a small footprint, is light and is provided with a decent handle. It is very effective on carpets. It is less easy to use on stairs and the turbo head does not work right into the corners of the steps but is OK. I find it easiest to carry the machine from top to bottom, step by step and to use the turbo head on the step below the machine. The business of fitting the extension hose and tools is a bit fiddly as we are used to a cylinder machine. It does require emptying frequently but this is easy to do. Not having bags saves money and means that the machine is always available. It seems to be good enough just to shake out the waste contents when emptying but I think a thorough clean out might eventually be necessary.

Fantastic machine, build quality great, suction etc. all great, only two things more would have made this the cleaner of the decade:-
1 Recoil mains lead.
2 Long reach hose always connected

(Posted on 13/03/2011)

This model was purchased mainly for cleaning the stairs and this is brilliant - can reach them all with little effort and the machine has excellent suction so only have to do the job once! It also does an excellent job of cleaning the interior of the car as the hose is long enough to reach. It is a lighter machine than many - which does help when it is taken to clean upstairs. It is quiet so you don't get ringing in the ears like some other models! Being bagless is also a boon - have had other bagless machines and this does compare favourably and the machine looks good too! Overall a good compact machine with verve!

I have never owned a Vax before but I am pleasantly surprised it's lightweight and powerful and my daughter has borrowed it and wants to buy a Vax as her next purchase. I would like the handle to be improved for comfort as this could do with redesigning but overall brilliant so far.I hope it gives me years of service.

Robina

(Posted on 12/03/2011)

I bought the Vax Air Reach mainly for its lightness, its very easy to use and manoeuvre and the suction is good. Its a bit fiddly fitting the longer hose, it will stretch up the stairs about half way, after that its weight is a disadvantage as its wants to fall over, saying that as its so light to carry its easier to carry it up as you go. The other reason I liked this was it has an extra long lead, which saves having to keep plugging it in n out, but as its so long it has no rewind and has to be wound manually, so you can and up with a lot of lead to fall over, which is fine for most, but I wouldn't want an elderly person to have it. Lastly it is easier to access the brushes to clean out than the older models. Overall I am very pleased.

This is an excellent product. good suction and very easy to use. As we have wooden floors and rugs, the fact that you can change by the press of a button - the buttons are on top, which is a great help - makes it so simple.

The length of cord means that you can do all the rooms on one floor by only using one socket. The adjustable handle is also a boon.

Just three gripes:

1)the fact that you have to use the handle for attachments means that you have no flexibility, which slighlty negates the flexible hose.

2) the attachments keep falling out of the clip on the body - I@ve used rubber bands to secure.

3) The hose does not stretch a full stair length.

All in all this is superb and probably the best vacuum we've owned.

Sallyann Stewart

(Posted on 04/03/2011)

Great little machine!,lightweight especially as I have neck and back issues.I can carry it upstairs no problems. It picks up dirt amazingly well and is so easy to push. The long cable means I can hoover a much greater area before I have to unplug it and change socket.
Problems- 1 the tools keep slipping out the space they fit onto at back of machine,
2 I have to use the handle extention to reach the top two stairs of my house from the bottom,If the Elongated hose had been very slightly longer, it would have reached.
3 Dust coolecting bin too small has to be emptied after each full house hoover.
Tools and hoses fit easily and quickly.
Overall it is a great hoover I am really enjoying using it,knocks spots off its nearest rival! My Dyson now binned!!

Having always used electrolux i bought a cadence vax i found this brilliant i then bought a turbo force cyclonic although a very good hoover it is a bit heavy i have now progressed as have vax to the mach air reach is without doubt the best in advanced floor cleaning as you can get very lightweight very powerful simple uncomplicated use i was so impressed that i bought a second one as a spare and i also use a gator handheld brilliant and you might think by this review i work for vax no i am very hard to please and vax does it thank you.

A very good suction and light-weight vacuum cleaner, that is easy to go around the home. The cable is lengthy, so you only need to use a single plug socket without switching it into another. The extension tube is easy to assemble for the stairway, and quite easy to put away. The attachment is the best for stairways, like a mini vacuum cleaner. The model will be active, even though the dust container is full without affecting the suction. It is simple to empty and clean. I would certainly recommend it to any user and it is very useful for small rooms, plus the price is very reasonable.

(Posted on 27/02/2011)

We are delighted with this cleaner. It is light, but very efficient, and very versatile. We have two small niggles. The gentleman of the house is tall and has arthritis. He appreciates the ability to adjust the handle, but would like to be able to extend the handle a wee bit more. Also, we both find that the crevice tool falls off rather easily. Overall, however, we are happy with our purchase, and we found the price competitive.

(Posted on 27/02/2011)

I thought the performance of my new vac was excellent the suction power beat the Dyson hands down, the only problem i found was more space could have been provided where the hose fixes to the bottom for people with big hands.

David Coverley

Works well picking up all dog hairs etc. The only thing is the cord when wrapped up tends to come off the retainers, which would have been solved by making the retainer arms slightly longer.

(Posted on 26/02/2011)

Excellent machine, very light, easy to use yet powerful. Seems robust, and so far very pleased. Obviously the dust collector is smaller than the standard machines, but this is a necessary compromise when going for a lighter, more compact machine. The 'dusting' attachment is less good than my Dyson upright machine, but that is the only slight criticism that I have

Armitage

(Posted on 25/02/2011)

Even though I have mainly tiled floors, I chose this upright because of it's reputation for easy maneuverability and good suction. It has both of those assets and more. I like it very much and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends. I also like the way you can easily clean the filters and empty the dust container.

Helpful changes would include: Where the power lead attaches to the machine, it is forced in a downward direction, it would be better facing upwards. Reason - easier to catch hold of when hang to move the lead out of the way.

The little turbo tool could do with having a flexible or adjustable neck making it more adaptable when cleaning furniture and behind my woodburner.

The VAX is a replacement for a Dyson, which although very good, which is a much heavier machine and was inconvenient when moving upstairs. The flexible hose was also very awkward to use. The VAX on the other hand is light and easier to transport and the flexible hose very easy to use. Overall I would rate it a better product.

Lynda Warby

I think the suction power is amazing - much better than my previous hoover which was a Dyson specifically for animal owners. My only complaint is that the tools do not stay on and attaching them to the pipe requires a bit more effort than other hoovers I have owned. Regardless of these niggles I want a hoover that will clean and this certainly fits that bill. I would highly recommend this hoover to anyone. I have also bought a Vax for cleaning my car and this is equally as efficient.

I love this vax,it has a brilliant strong suction, picking up dust from deep within the carpet that you have no idea is even there. The tools are cleverly designed to fit together and store on board, and I love the fact that you can vacuum several rooms without having to unplug it due to the 10meter cord. I am really pleased with this lightweight, easy to use vax and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a new upright vacuum cleaner.

I am really pleased with my Vax. It removes much more dust and dirt than my old cleaner. I hoovered 1 bagful in my upstairs rooms alone! My son and his girlfriend borrowed it and were so impressed they are now buying there own! A good recomendation!! I wish I'd bought one sooner. Many thanks Sylvia.

Really pleased with this cleaner. It is very light and reasonably quiet. We used it as soon as we received it and vacuumed a carpet that had only been cleaned with out old cleaner the previous day. It picked up as much again as the old cleaner.

Morning Vax people, Really pleased with this, strange Xmas prezzie but really wanted a small cleaner to go in my small house. Love that:
1. It is light
2. Small exactly what i wanted sorrry (repeating myself)
it picks up amazing amounts of dirt i never realized i was so mucky!
3. that i can plug in and zoom all over the place with out stopping and starting even upstairs.
Some improvements I would add to the next generation are:
1. Tougher rubber around the base only had it a few weeks and already rubber is flaking and breaking down.
2. I am being lazy here but the whole windmill winding of the power cord is a bit too much effort for my liking following a quick whizz round the room Would love auto recoil but appreciate the space issue.
3. With my long lush locks hair gets caught round the roller some little blade gizmo to help clean would be sweet.
But would recommend this i am very pleased. thank you

We were looking for a lightweight replacement for our Dyson DC03, with good suction, a long hose and good tools - the Vax ticked all the boxes and has clearly been well thought out from every aspect of use - including emptying the dirt canister!

Two words will describe this vacuum cleaner...ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! Some people may think we are a little mad at our house, in the past two or three years we have bought two Dyson vacuums, one of which we thought was a light weight, it was'nt.

a Hoover vacuum cleaner, a Panasonic vacuum cleaner, they were all too heavy and cumbersome and actually not all that efficient, and they all finished up scattered around the family, yes we gave them all away.
The VAX is a different story though, it is easy to use, easy to carry upstairs ( even for the lady of the house) from one socket we can reach all the rooms in the house, and it is super efficient, it does exactly what it says on the box, brilliantly!

Good cleaning power and long reach. A very lightweight machine-ideal as I have 2 flights of stairs. Easy to empty and very easy to clean brush head. Would prefer a larger dust container but only if low weight could be maintained. Low cleaning head allows reach under furniture and cleans up to edges.

Two minor negatives- would prefer nozzle attachment head opening to be narrower to reach into edges etc and I am unable to clip wound wire into clip provided-there is no flexibility there. My husband has also tried with no success.

Overall,I am pleased with this machine which is also very easy to store and would recommend it.

Hi, I have had this vax u90-ma-r mach air reach, now for a couple of weeks, and its just fantastic - lovely and light to move forward and backwards, underneath furniture, as it's not to deep. Good to empty and a lovely long lead, I only have to plug it into one socket now, great power on the carpets picks up every thing and also brill on lino. I have a house Rabbit, as and its not to big or to noisy for him, he does'nt take any notice of it, plus also picks up every thing, has made my cream carpet pile come up a treat, I am very pleased with it, to say the least, would really recomend it. I think that the only thing perhaps, that needs looking at is the little brush set, as it seems to pop off lots of times, when using mashine/ think bracket and brush set, should fit tighter together, not sure if I knock it moving the lead about, hope you will do well with it. O and Love the colour, as I am into purple, blends in very well. Thank you, hope this is of some use to you. Best regards

This is an excellent machine, much better than my previous cumbersome cleaner which was made by a well-known rival. The suction is excellent, it is light enough to carry up the stairs easily and it's nippy enough to get into all the small corners. The only niggle is the lack of auto-rewind on the cable, but that's a small point. I wouldn't think twice about buying another.

Our new Mach Air reach is the best machine we have ever owned, very light to lift upstairs, easy to use, great suction and the easiest dust container to empty I have ever seen. The long power cable is great reaches most rooms from 1 socket, the only downside is the cable retainers on the body could have been a bit longer, otherwise a great machine.

(Posted on 27/01/2011)

Bought as a lightweight for my wife it certainly is easier to handle than an ordinary vacuum cleaner. Great suction which really removes more dirt from the carpets. In fact on some carpets it is difficult to push, but this is overcome easily by pulling the cleaner. Overall, I am extremely pleased with my excellent purchase.

I have found with other makes it is so hard. For a light machine it certainly does the work. I would certainly tell all my friends to purchase a Vax. Thank you Vax for making my life so much easier.

Nice little machine powerful for its size. Only problem is it tends to lift up off the floor as I move it backwards and forwards. I hope this is newness and will stop in time. I like the long electrical lead as I can clean my car outside on the drive. The long hose is very useful for the same reason.

Fred Gill

Wonderful machine. Main problem is that is is more intelligent than I am and it sometimes makes me feel inadequate. I do wish that there was a holster for the power head and that the power cord was located higher on the machine to help avoid running over the cord. Otherwise it has been a joy to use. The six year guarantee is also more than fair.

After many years of searching, I believe I have found the right vacuum cleaner for my requirements. Benefits for me are:

Sufficiently light for me to carry upstairs
Cable reaches from top to bottom of stairs
Easy access between legs of chairs
Very good edge to edge pick up
Easy emptying procedure

Early days yet but I don't think I shall be disappopnted.

We have alway had a cylinder type which is easy to remove brush and get into corners with ease. However, like the strong suction with the Vax and its lightweight makes it easier to transport. Just find it a bit more time consuming when assembling the atachments for corners, etc. Also would probably prefer a press button flex rewind. Overall very happy with the performance of the Vax.

To us old-timers a trendy bit of kit - but it works very well. The long reach "tubing-system" is a boon, compared with our old machine. A little fiddly to use with the push-release buttons etc. but we think that it is only a matter of getting used to the new approach. The very generous power lead means not having to keep unplugging and finding a closer power socket. Nice and light to move around and the slim base unit makes it easier to access under some furniture. Overall more than satisfied.

Hi there, well my first clean with the Mach Air Reach was great and I was very impressed with the length of hose etc as i have three cats and I need to vacuum the settees a lot. I dont like Dysons because I find the tools are a bit bulky to do edging and hoses never seem to be long enough, pulling the vaccuum over. with such a long hose this doesnt happen with the Mach Air Reach. I also found it very light to carry and this also helps me a lot as I can suffer with back and neck pain with carrying and hoovering settees etc. Unfortunately the second attempt to vaccuum was not a successful one and I found that the front of the vaccuum didnt seem to want to keep to the floor and I had to keep pushing it down all the time and this was very unsatisfactory. I rang your helpline and xmas proved a difficult time but eventually i managed to find the opening hours and I was advised to use some WD40 on the vaccuum. I didnt have too much luck with this and was very worried but managed to get a male neighbour to help me to oil the correct part and I have to say that the machine seems okay now. so I would maybe look at something to ensure flexibility so that the machine doesnt get stiff when vacuuming. I would hope this has sorted the problem although I wasn't sure it was a good thing to have to do that to a brand new machine. The other thing that is a bit annoying is the tool storage section at the back my tools keep falling off all the time so something slightly more secure somehow would be good and maybe somewhere to put the pet hair one too! I like the design and colour of the machine (mine is purple) and think its a great idea to have the front bit over the brushes seethrough etc. I dont know about the rest as I havent tried to clean any filters etc yet. I dont like instructions at the best of times but I have to say I found these ones very easy to follow and for me thats quite an achievement. I love the fact that there is a 6 year guarantee too and thats the only reason I would pay so much money I am used to paying

Very pleased with the Mach Air Reach. It's very lightweight, yet good at picking-up, both on carpets and wooden floors. Even though it's small, it's still perfect for our 4 bedroom house (with a 2-year old!) The power cord is a good length and the head allows you to get right up to the edges, so very versitle. Easy to clean the stairs as well. Only minor issues are that the small dust compartment means frequent emptying, although this is vey easy to do. Also, the attachments can be a bit fiddely. However you don't need to use them as often, as you can vacuum right up to the skirting boards. Overall, a great buy. Would definitely recommend.

I have fallen in love. For years I have searched for the right one for me. I have been a vacuum slut drifting from one make to another. Choosing the large powerful types, Dysons, the smaller lightweight ones with no power and the gadget types with attachments that didn't come up to performance at all. Now at last after almost a lifetime of searching I have THE ONE.

I love the power of the cleaner packed into a small package. The beater bar has whipped my carpets into shape and cleaned tham like they have never been cleaned before. I can clean the stairs myself with the fantastic stretch and reach of its hose and the gadget that works the beater bar vacuum nozzle head. My new toy is performing above and beyond my expectations. I loved it so much I made my neighbour buy one too!!!!! and this at Christmas time when money is tight. I love the lightness of it, the smaller head which gets into all my nooks and crannies, the cable length and hose reach and the switch on and off beater bar. As a lady of a certain age the lightness and power of my Vax are exactly what I wanted. I am so glad to have found my Vax Mach (short for macho !!!!!!!!!!!! )

Margaret Hart

(Posted on 11/01/2011)

Pros:
Great suction
Light
Easy to store (compact)
Easy to empty
Great on pet hair
Leaves carpets looking good
Long lead
Great on stairs
Brilliant design

Cons:
Lead is difficult to wind onto holder (too much lead for too little space)
Lead is made of stiff plastic so a bit unwieldy I keep running over it

Suggestions:
If you could have designed a model with a retractable lead you would have made perfection!

Excellent and lightweight vacuum cleaner. Only downside is when emptying cylinder. Debris is trapped and has to be coaxed out otherwise must dismantle.

Alison Gooch

(Posted on 08/01/2011)

This is an easy-to-use lightweight cleaner that I have enjoyed using over the last few months. However, the only drawback I would highlight is the difficulty I encounter when I convert the pipe to use the attachments - I find this quite fiddly compared to the Dyson I previously owned.

Philippa Chebsey

(Posted on 07/01/2011)

On first impression, seems like a small light machine and I was worried wouldnt be "up to the job". I replaced my Dyson with this machine. In my opinion, it is more powerful than the Dyson and is quieter in operation. It is very efficient at picking up dog hairs and my carpets look better than before. It is light to use, the stair turbo tool is fantastic. My only criticism would be that there is a lot of cord to wind back onto the hooks and they could maybe be with being slightly larger to accommodate all the cord which does drop off sometimes as there is too much of it to fit. Also, I have to empty the cannister halfway through hoovering as it is quite small, but I realise that with 4 dogs I have a lot of hair and dirt so maybe anyone "normal" wouldnt have a problem. On balance, great value for money, a great machine and a 6 year guarantee - I am pleased with my purchase.

Jackie Stewart

(Posted on 04/01/2011)

Very lightweight, easy to manouvre in-between furniture, as it's quite small it gets into gaps and right under the bed. Good suction and easy to empty, although fluff can get stuck at the top next to the filter. Bit fiddly to connect the hose as it's located right at the bottom of the hoover, but otherwise I am pleased with it, makes hoovering less of a chore and doesn't strain my back.

Joan Giles

Rod Gross

(Posted on 28/12/2010)

This machine is light, easily manoervered and cleans superbly. However there are some improvements that could be made:- (1) The switches would be easier to use for right handed people if they were located to the left of the handle. (2) The tools are not well fixed to the machine, in fact the brush tool does not fix to it at all. (3) Changing to the tool usage is fiddley but once you have rearranged the pipes it is very efficient.

(Posted on 24/12/2010)

Love it. Nice long power cable. Not tried it on stairs yet, but looks like will be OK.
Really sucks well, amazed how much dirt it collected using it after I had already used my old Hoover.

Mr M J Neville

(Posted on 23/12/2010)

Very Powerfull and light to carry around. Long cable. Turbo head excellent on stairs and in car. Has restored pile on landing carpet which I was going to renew. Only fault found so far is the crevice tool which split at the tube connection end. Repaired with electrical tape. Would have been 5 stars but for the flimsy crevice tool.

Mark C

(Posted on 22/12/2010)

Massively better than the Dyson in almost every area. In particular: lighter,
better suction, much more user friendly to empty, long flexible hose and lead much more useful. Doesn't keep falling over when using the flexible hose which the Dyson always did. The stop on the brushes is an excellent safety feature when your trying to hoover stairs with toddlers around.

The only negative - and its the same on the wet vax which I also have - is that the cleaning tool storage clips are poor - forever wandering back around the house to see where they have dropped off.

Overall 9.5 out of 10.

in my opinion it is the best lightweight upright cleaner I have ever used and I have used a lot as I am a senior citizen. I have carpets upstairs and rugs and hardfloors downstairs, and the ease with which it converts is wonderful. it is easy to empty and it will do my stairs with no problems at all. All in all, its great, and a good price too.

(Posted on 20/12/2010)

I have bought and used several upright vacuum cleaners over the years including Dyson, Hoover, Panasonic, etc and although I have only had this Vax for a very short while, I am very impressed with its performance.

This vacuum whilst lightweight does not appear on the surface to be able to cope with the job it was intended for and only being 1200 watts is a lot lower power than some of its rivals, but when you see the result of your efforts and what it has collected from carpets that originally appeared to be clean, it is amazing.

Although this cleaner is priced higher than some of the other manufacturers vacuum cleaners, I would recommend the purchase of this Vax model to do the job properly.

I think U90-MA-R Mach Air Reach is probably the best vacuum I have owned so far. The fact it is light weight makes it so much more user friendly. I like how easy it is to empty and clean. The long extension hose is very useful and saves the cleaner from being pulled off balance. The long power lead is great as I can hoover from one end of my flat to other without having to stop and unplug.

I have been using the U90-MA-R Mach Air Reach 2 weeks now. I had a Dyson before this but i have a bad fall and hurt my back and could not use the Dyson as it was too heavy. I like the Vax because it light and easy to use. Works just like the Dyson and as the same suction power and gets under the radiators which i think is just great. You can even use it on wood floors my are bamboo and it is alright on them. The only fault i have found is the handle it as ridges on the inside they rub my hand making it sore and i have had to wrap felt round it if this problem is solved you will have a great lightweight product anyone with a bad back should think about getting this Vax and i think it would be good for elderly people to.

Mr Mark Finn

(Posted on 17/12/2010)

Works well. The light weight is a real boon. I am very happy with it.

I can think of 2 possible improvements. Firstly, when using the suction tube to do coving etc, you need to unplug one hose and plug in another. Some kind of switchover lever to select between the two without having to unplug/plug would be better. Secondly, when using the metal suction tube to vacuum say upholstery or stairs, the tube keeps telescoping smaller, because your hand rests naturally on the joint (which controls telescoping). Maybe its just me, but it keeps happening.

The cleaner is small and neat and very light to carry around. I suffer with arthritis and so this is very important to me. Although the cleaner is compact it does not suffer from lack of performance, it is the most powerful cleaner I have ever used. The tools are all to hand and the extra long hose means cleaning stairs is so easy and the turbo tool makes light work of pet hairs on cushions etc. The cleaner also brings the pile of the carpet back, making the overall appearance of the carpets great. Would definitely recommend.

John Peter Lyon

(Posted on 16/12/2010)

Have only used it once so far. The suction is good and the tools are easy to use. Not as easy to clean as my previous upright ( Dyson ) but I suppose I will get used to it.

(Posted on 15/12/2010)

A lighweight upright which is great, easy to carry around the house, up the stairs etc. Easy to empty and clean. Being a taller woman I would have liked the handle to be just a bit longer and a cord rewind would have made alot of difference, the cord on this machine is very long and I am there for ages winding it all up! Overall I am happy with the product and use it daily. The 6yr cover was also a good reason to buy.

I am very pleased with my new U90-MA-R MACH AIR REACH,I just wish I had changed my heavy Dyson to this lightweight cleaner years ago.It is a very well thought out machine,I particularly like the ease of changing from brush to hard floor with just a press of a button on the top of the machine. Also the easy to view brushbar which makes it easy to see any threads that have been caught up.It is a powerful machine and not too noisy, the tools are easily accessed and although the turbo brush cannot be stored on the machine it is something I would not be without as it is excellent for the removal of pet hairs. It is hard to find anything negative to say about this cleaner. The extra long lead is a boon as I can access every room in the house from one power point in the hall. All in all a terrific cleaner that is a joy to use!

I was wanting an efficient, light, compact, small upright vaccuum cleaner and I have got it. Fantastic. I wouldn't choose the colour but that is immaterial! The only downer I find is not being able to have the attachments on board with me as I work around the home. I find I can wonder around my home with my new vacuum cleaner without having to change electric sockets thanks to the long flex but then find I have left the attachments behind - somewhere! I do hope this vacuum cleaner gets a good name/reputation. It deserves to.

Brought this vax light 4.9kg weight hoover for my 86 yr old dad, he has found it very easy to use on carpet and viynl floors thanks to its push buttons selection and easy tilt function, easy to manover around furniture, and pleased with its sucktion power and bin size.the only gripe he has is with the extention hose he finds it hard to fit due to Rheumatism in his hands. 9/10

Excellent machine, super lightweight, excellent suction, would recomened to other customers. I have always had Vax machines, they are the best, good price buying on line from Vax. Excellent customer service, delivery within 24hrs at no extra cost, one very very happy customer. The best machine I have had yet. Ms Jean Grogan

A nice size and weight and design. Appears perfectly adequate. Have stopped using my Dyson now. Would have liked to have seen an airpower rating before purchase which is quoted on some Vax models.

After a week, seems very good. Good suction and brushbar action; I had used my Dyson in the morning, and when I ran this around in the afternoon it filled up about a third of the dust collector! Therefore, obviously cleans better than Dyson.

Good to have long flex and hose on this model.

Very light.

Overall prefer to Dyson (with 1 weeks use).

Negatives are: 1) Tools do not attach well in storage, so store in drawer; 2) "Head" of unit with brushbar is so light it easily lifts away from carpet when cleaning and have to make concious effort to stop it doing that and ; 3) Fiddly (although when get used to it takes only a minute) to attach hose and tools for stair cleaning etc. Dyson was better design in this regard, as the handle with hose attached just pulled out.

However these are relatively minor niggles and it seems to be an excellent machine.

We bought this vacuum cleaner as it was advertised as being very light. Our bagged cleaner was getting too heavy for my wife and I to carry up and down stairs.

When we got the VAX home and unpacked it I gave it a trial run on our lounge which had just been cleaned by my wife. It was so powerful that I was amazed as to how much dirt and dust the VAX picked up.

The turbo attachment brought life to our plush 3 piece suite and the extra long cable and flexible hose meant we didn't need to keep unplugging the VAX. Just using one power point in the hall upstairs meant that we could do the whole upstairs, stairs and downstairs hall without unplugging the VAX.
Our only complaint is the storage clip for the crevice tool does not grip tightly enough and keeps popping the tool out.

This is the most powerful and manoueverable vacuum cleaner we have ever used..............and we've used quite a few.

This is a fantastic machine. It's very light to use and the long cable reaches all around the house. One big plus is the fact that it picks up cat hair in one move! The turbo attachment is excellent. The only downside is that attaching the long hose is a bit fiddly at first-but after a couple of tries it gets easier. Having said that it is still the best upright cleaner I have ever had by a country mile!!

Nice light-weight machine with good suction. I hope this is the same after many year's use, unlike other makes. I just wish the main brush bar was a bit wider to get over the carpets quicker. Also, the extention hose is a bit of a fiddle having to connect two bits together. It would have been much nicer to have a retractable hose all in one piece. Otherwise a good little hoover which gets under furniture.

I purchased the Vax Mach Air Reach to replace my Dyson which I had for 10 years. I decided I wanted something lighter and more easy to carry around. I have now had the Vax for two weeks and am really pleased with it. Although it looks quite small compared to the Dyson, and you have to empty it more frequently have found it to be very powerful and easy to use. Another benefit is it is lower at the front and goes easily under cupboards, radiators and under beds. Also you can stop the beater bars which I couldnt on my previous vacuum when using on a hard floor. With a 6 year guarantee I feel confident that I shall have good service from my Vax. Although I have only had the Vax for two weeks would recommend it.

I was amazed how much dirt the Vax picked up. It is nice and lightweight for my advancing years and the cable is good and long..do not have to keep changing plugs...The down side to that, is a lot of cable to be dragging around. Would be nice to have an attchment pocket somewhere?

Having used the Mach Air Reach for over a week I have found it a pleasure to use. The extension hose for attachments is a splendid idea, the suction is also good,it is also very light in weight & can be carried upstairs very easily ( ideal for us senior citizens ). It even comes with a 6 year guarantee which is a bonus.Only one little problem there is nowhere on board for the turbo tool so I am afraid I shall have to mark it down to 9 out 10. I shall certainly recommend it to everybody. Can't wait for the 6 years to pass & my hubby can buy me a new one for our Golden Wedding.

(Posted on 26/11/2010)

I bought this after reading reviews on several models, needing a lightweight cyclonic cleaner that is powerful enough to get up pet hair. Before moving to this modern house I had a bigger cleaner, very powerful but awkward now to manoevre round small rooms and carry up and down narrow stairs.

On the whole I am pleased with the Mach Air Reach - it certainly gets up all the dog hairs and the long flex allows me to plug it in once and use it in several rooms. However I find the extending hose, even with the extension awkward to use, it has to be pulled out and held taut all the time to do the stairs. I do find this quite a strain on my arm and shoulder.

Also the dirt container is very small and need emptying each time I use it, also the supposed on board tools do not stay in place but fall off as soon as the handle moves from the upright.

On my previous cleaner, also a Vax all the tools stayed in their place so did not need spare hands to carry them around.

I actually enjoy vacuuming now as you can see a result, and its a pleasure to use . it is so light weight you can almost carry it around with your little finger and i can do the whole house without unplugging it and i live in a large detatched house !! it is just so user friendly i havent even had to refer to the user guide to operate it , storage is also great as it is not big and bulky to store.
Definitely recommend this Vax and its not tremendously expensive compared to other makes i have already mentioned . Excellent Purchase .

The Vax Mach Air Reach has proved to be lightweight [its main advantage]The push button when rollers are restricted is well thought out. The length of cable is superb. The ability to cut off the brushes and just use suction is a useful one. The one critisism I have is that when using the extended hose it cannot be put on to the rigid tube to use for ceilings etc. Apart from that I am delighted with it.

John Garven

(Posted on 24/11/2010)

Have only used it a couple of times so far. Easy to get going out of the box. Does what it claims to do, very efficiently. I have a couple of niggles:

1) The hose is not easy to use, as it first has to be pulled down, to get it through the retaining bracket. The hose also tends to retreat beyond the bracket, as you work closer t the machine. It means it has to be pulled down and out again, when reaching further. This bracket could be made to swivel out of the way, to release the hose while it is being used.

2) The additional tools are very easily dislodged, when unhooking the power cord.

We have laminated flooring with shag type rugs which our two dogs are always playing and rolling about on. the first time I used it I had to empty it twice because of all the dogs hair and fluff it collected although I vaccumed every day with our old machine. The long lead is an asset so is the long reach for the stairs. Health and age has caused me to look for a light vacuum cleaner. This fills the bill. I have only had it for a couple of weeks, so I cannot comment on reliability, but the guarantee is reassuring.

One thing that could be improved for me would be to make the hose attachment to the base of the sweeper moor accessable. Perhaps a solid elbow which terminates facing upwards for the hose attachment would make life easier.

A great choice if you're after a lightweight machine with plenty of power. Easy as pie to assemble, then you're straight into the cleaning. Whizzes round furniture and into tight corners, not too noisy and the emptying is fuss free - just tip the dust into your bin bag and you're done. It's not a bulky machine, so it's easy to store and the long lead means you're not forever plugging it in all over the house! I'd definitley recommend it. A great buy.

I always wanted a light and powerful vacuum cleaner. I tried lots, expensive ones and cheap ones, but I was never satisfied. When I saw the Vax, firstly its shape appealed to me, then when I held it I thought it was light enough and after reading what it does, I was sure that was the one.
I am so happy to have found at alst a very powerful cleaner that is light and compact. When I tried it the first time, I thought my carpet was quite clean!? within minutes the dust filled the bagless box with such fine dust I was amazed.
So thank you for such a comfort!

This is a great vacuum cleaner. It is lightweight but very powerful, so it is easy to access difficult areas and cleans right to th edge of skirting boards etc. Previously we have owned a number of SEBO's and a Dyson. The Vax is a far better machine. If I clean an area with the SEBO and then clean again with the Vax, it always picks up dirt that the SEBO left behind.

I notice that some reviews complain about the storage of the mains lead. The storage hooks could be bigger but all the cable will stow away if you coil it carefully.

Vax is a very easy company to deal with. I ordered this machine by telephone and it arrived by courier within two days.

(Posted on 07/11/2010)

This is an amazing machine. I had vacuumed a few days earlier with my old machine, but when I went over the carpets with my Vax I filled (over-filled) the collecting bin.

It is incredibly light, very powerful and it's much easier to use on stairs than my previous one. It cleans very near to the edges of carpets.

I'm a bit confused how/where to store the tools. I can't get the little brush/nozzle thing to stay clipped onto the handle. It's probably just me being thick.

Lovely light weight machine. Easy to manouvre and carry up stairs. Extra long cable. Not too noisy. Sucks up really well. Unfortunately no where to store turbo brush attachment on machine. Extendable hose supplied but is a little hassle to attach when needed. Height adjustable handle but would be good if you could remove it and it instantly sucked up instead of having to attach hose extension. Small machine great for storing in small cupboards. Brilliant that you can have the option to turn the brushes on or off. Slow release of hoover to the floor when using on different levels but appears to be too slow some times. Over all a brilliant vacuum and would recommend it to anyone.

(Posted on 30/10/2010)

I've been through almost half a dozen vacuum cleaners in the last five years, but this one is by far the best. Ultra light, but extremely powerful. A brilliant feature is the way the brushes stop rotating when the vacuum is put in the upright position, so there's a lot less risk of sucking up the power cord when you're using the hose attachments. Long power cord and hose means I can reach the whole flat without having to unplug the machine.

Zoe Dyer

(Posted on 30/10/2010)

Brilliant little cleaner, light-weight, easy to carry, brilliant suction, I'm amazed how much it sucks up. I joke that the carpets will be thread-bare soon.

My only critism is that the lovely long electric lead (which is very useful when hoovering down the stairs) comes unhooked and it's all left trailing, which gets in the way. Maybe bigger/deeper hooks to hold the lead would be good.

J Mcmillan

(Posted on 28/10/2010)

Easy to assemble. Useful feature being able to unclip the cover over the brush bar to clear blockages, very light to handle and easily stored. Really powerful, drum fills up quickly but so easy and quick to empty it's not a problem. Would recommend it.

I have always purchased dysons in the past but got put off this time around with the fact its not picking up as well as it used to. My nan purchased the orange vax not the reach one the normal one and i happened to hoover for her and was amazed how good the hoover was as she only purchased it really because it was light weight as she has trouble lifting things cos of her wrists but when i used it i couldnt believe the suction. I asked to borrow it to try it out in my house as i have two labradors and the hair is unreal (have to hoover every day!) i tried it out and was hooked. I decided to go for the reach version as the extension hose would reach upto my stairs and the wire is much longer than the usual version. I am very impressed it is much better than the dysons i cant believe i have put my trust in dyson for so many years when there is better out there. This is by far the best hoover i have purchased ! thank you vax

(Posted on 26/10/2010)

To be quite frank after considerable research on the net I opted for the above model. Our previous experience with a bagless upright was a disaster it was the Electrolux Vitesse and after five minutes of vacuuming the motor used to cut out and then there was a 45 minute wait before the motor kicked in again and there were the broken fan belts.A total nightmare.

the previous model to the Air Reach was the Mach Air and we were very close to purchasing that particular model but it just had a couple of drawbacks, length of hose and lead, so we opted for the Mach Air Reach.

What a little beauty! Anything new in the home I get to try it first and crikey it was efficient. I did not need to empty it out at this stage but this was a test run and emptying it out was a doddle. A few days later my wife used it and professed her delight with it and I suggested that she should empty it out and when she did I heard a yell from the dustbin area and I went out to see my wife covered in dust, she had opened it from the top just like the old machine. I do not think she will be making that mistake again.

Finally that six year guarantee WOWEEEEEE....

Exactly what was needed here, especially for stairs. A very efficient lightweight m/c with low noise levels in use. It replaced a multifunction Vax vacuum/washer which had only one fault. It's short fat body moved faster than I can and sometimes hit me on an ankle with metal plates in it. It's gone to a good home. Back to the U90-MA-R. I expect it, along with my Vax washer, to last a very long time. Would recommend either to anyone.

Marija Njegomir

(Posted on 18/10/2010)

Pros: Lightweight and easy to manoeuvre, long electrical lead, long extending hose.

Cons: The attachments continually dislodge from their storage point on the back of the machine, the lead storage hooks are not big enough to accommodate it very well (which leads to the attachments being dislodged).

This was quite an expensive machine and I am concerned about how robust it will be over a period of time.

However, it has so far been very effective in dealing with pet hair and I am pleased with its overall performance.

Very lightweight as expected, excellent suction. the holder for the tools is not very successful, we keep them in a store room until needed, on/off button would be better on the left side as I am right-handed although great for left handed users and needs to be a different colour to the on/off button for the brush head so it is more prominent. have to empty more than our last vacuum but I expected that. if you let it fill to much you have to dig the contents from around the filter. handle could do with a cap on the end just to finish it off for looks.

I already have two Vax upright vacuum cleaners but when I injured my back these became too heavy so I purchased this new hoover. I easily put it together and was very impressed by how light but powerful this machine actually was. When my husband first saw it he laughed saying it looked too small to clean properly but had to take back his words when he actually used it himself. He was as impressed as I was. I can zoom round the house knowing that (a) it is going to do a damn good job at cleaning and (b) it is not going to hurt my back while doing so. I am especially impressed with the detachable long handle which attaches to the hose which enables me to do round the skirting boards without bending down - saving more strain on my back. Top marks to the person who designed this little gem of a hoover.

After borrowing my mums Air Mach Pet, i was very impressed with it, but found both the cord and hose not quite long enough. I therefore brought the Reach and it certainly does, plugging in just once it reached all around house. It is lightweight, yet very powerfull, sucking up pet hairs with ease. Everything about this machine is designed for ease of use and i like the way you can change from hard floors to carpet by pressing one button and the way you can see the brush bar and get to it by simply uncliping the clear cover,no screwdriver needed and i like it so the handle adjusts to suit your height and comes off completly to fit in a small cupboard. Absolutley brilliant!

I love my VAX U90-MA-R Mach Air Reach. I cleaned my 4 story house on the day I received my Vax, plugging in once on each floor and doing all the stairs. Easy & light to carry and no backache. NOTE: Stair corners and creases would be much easier to clean if stair attachment could be fitted direcly to the extension hose or short hose instead of using the handle and extension. This means 4.5 out of 5.

However, sunction great, so easy to use. So pleased was I that I demonstrated to 3 people and they have all bought one and fallen in love. Sad life but where vacuuming is concerned is floats my boat.

(Posted on 13/10/2010)

Really pleased with the Mach Air Reach - it's really light, the suction is fantastic and it handles picking up dog hair really well. My only slight criticism is that the dog hair does get wound around the rollers (but that's perhaps my fault for having a long haired dog!). Only a slight inconvenience and the performance well makes up for that. Had an Oreck before that and I think the Vax is much better even than that.

Jamie Gardiner

(Posted on 12/10/2010)

I had been happily using a Dyson for nearly ten years, so when an opportunity to purchase a new vacuum cleaner came about I thoroughly did my home work. All I can say is my research paid off.

This Vax Mach Air Reach is a powerful bit of kit, light, easy to manoeuvre, easy to store (due to its compact design). The tube/nozzle reach is impressive and the wire length means less time unplugging and plugging in.

The vacuum head is exceedingly slim so it's ideal for getting under low bits of furniture.

I can recommend this vacuum cleaner, and whilst vacuuming will never be a pleasure this at least makes it less of a chore!

I love this cleaner. It is hard to choose a vacuum cleaner as from past experience they rarely live up to expectations, but this one does. It is light and easy to use, gets in the smallest places and the extra long cord means less time searching for a socket. The powerful suction is brilliant on all floors and it is easy to empty. If it continues to perform as well as this then I shall be very pleased I purchased this product.

Unpacking and plugging in very straight forward. Parts pretty easy to identify. Quality is obviously "plasticky" but functional and quite light weight.

Then came the big switch on, on a carpet just vacuumed the day before with a well known brand. Wow, how much came away from that carpet, we were soon emptying the container- not the best of chores but OK.

Then a large Isfahan rug and the rollers caught the tassles cutting out the system- or operating system protect sounds better. Followed procedures but failed to find, for a while, the reset button. When you know where it is that seems silly but at first use it wasn't totally aparent. All reset well and going fine.

Recommended same model to a friend who is looking.

Quite simply, I'm in love. My last two hoovers were big heavy Dysons. I can lift this one with one finger, suction power is fantastic. We"ve a big house with wood tile and carpet flooring, but I can zoom round it in no time, its a joy to hoover now. Thank you

I am very pleased with the product. It is very light to move around which is what I wanted,I like not having to bend down to change from carpet to hard floor, the tools are right there when you need them, it`s very easy to empty, the only thing I would change is that the brush does not go round when used on carpets, otherwise very good.

Having got three small dogs that obviously make dirt and molt,I was looking for a cleaner that could cope with this, so having done a lot of research and reading of reviews I decided that I would buy the Vax Mach Air Reach.

The result was that I was pleasently suprised with the performance and the lightness of the model and the fact that I can clean the staircase with ease.

The free 6 year guarantee was also a big plus that I took into consideration when I decided to purchase this model.

Yours Sincerely

Once usuing this machine I must say first impressions are very impressive. I haven't had to empty it out yet, but so far the Vax is collecting the dust well and does not appear to be clogging the filter. The extra length on the hose is fantastic and goes back well, although the mains lead and the hose can be a tight squeeze together on the unit when wrapping the lead up. i was expecting a stablising arm on the machine to keep it upright when using the hose, but there does not appear to be so. My only other small issue is the quality of the plastice that you turn to get the mains lead off/on quickly. This is a bit loose and flimsy.
On the hole so far so good and ticked all the right boxes for what I require. The weight is good and the attachements are great additions, also in comparison to Dyson fantastic value for money. Only the flimsy cord retainer and the lack of stablility when using the hose stops me giving this a 5 star rating.

The cleaner has excellent suction ,but on thick close pile carpets its hard to push. I feel there should be a height adjustment. Other than that its very good.

I decided to buy the Mach Reach after doing my homework on vacum cleaners and am so pleased I went with this model. I was fed up with the poor models that Dyson have brought out lately - despite me singing their praises in previous years. The Mach Reach is light and powerful and does exactly what it was designed to do with ease. I went with this model for its longer cord so I dont have to keep unplugging around the house. I was a bit unsure of the small container but have found it sufficient and easy to empty. So far I have no complaints.

Pro's - Suck like no hoover we have ever had before. Great on laminate flooring and on carpet. The turbo tool is fantastic for dog hair and cleaning the sofa's and stairs etc. Cord is plenty long enough.

Cons - The bracket for the attachments is not very secure. The suction is that great when using the Turbo tool it will reduce the length of the hose casuing the vax to fall over at times. The hose is not that user friendly as it's a real struggle to keep it at full length.

All this said I would definitely recommend as the cons are far out weighed by the pro's.

Very good and very happy. Good pickup and it goes under the bed all the way to clean. It will reach all the rooms upstairs from one plug point.

(Posted on 24/09/2010)

Overall a great vacuum cleaner - especially the ability to do the entire staircase without moving the cleaner - which along with its light weight was the reason for purchasing this model. It is nice and light, cleans very well - right to the skirting board and its low height means it fits well under furniture and radiators. I also found it surprisingly quiet for such a powerfull cleaner.
If I could improve the design, I would include a more sturdy attachment for the crevice tool along with a place to store the turbo tool. I would also like to see a hinged neck on the turbo tool to make it easier to get the best angle on the head for contact with the item being cleaned. With the design improvements it would be 5 stars.

Generally a good hoover with handy long cord for stairs and lightness in weight making it easy to carry. No complicated instructions. I do feel that the thicker the pile the harder it is to take up the bits. Also, it doesn't take up hairs well and tends to leave them at the front of the hoover.

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT :0) when it first arrived and i used it the front kept coming off the ground so was feeling :0( BUT i called VAX and they said to spray furniture polish on the wheels and it worked wonders :0)))) it was just a little tight i guess as it seems to be fine now fingers crossed, its also very quiet and so light its my dream machine as i slipped my disc a few years ago and hate all the heavy vacuum cleaners on the market that weigh so much, few things i would change but then the weight goes up so happy to have it the way it is, IE cord rewind a place to fix the turbo brush on and putting the hose on but thats just me being lazy!!!! i really enjoy doing the hovering now and also the head of the machine is smaller so fits in places that they dont normally fit and it goes nice and flat so you can hover under the bed and being able to stop the brushes at the touch of a button is a great idea! my stairs go around a bend so not as easy as straight up stairs but its so light to hold on to on the stairs so who cares I guess a woman must have been behind the design of this one :0) love the fact you can put the handle down so store in the cupboard all i can say is i am more than happy 100 out of 100 and the people on the phones are really nice and help as much as they can so well done VAX its not easy to please a woman they say but i am one happy woman many many thanks VAX it is for me x

Fantastic product! My old cleaner was so heavy(I was unable to carry it upstairs by myself) and sluggish and obviously didn't do a proper job. When I unpacked the Vax I was surprised at how light it was and when I switched it on I was amazed at the suction and embarrassed at how much dust and hair it removed from my carpets (which had been vacuumed the day before). The cable is so long that I was able to plug into a downstairs socket and vacuum the whole house - upstairs too, with no problems at all. The hose is the stretchiest I have ever seen, turning the tedious job of hoovering the stairs into a quick and easy job with amazing results using the turbo tool. The Vax is bright and modern in design and the inclusive 6 year warranty gave me peace of mind. I am really happy with the product and very impressed with its cleaning power. It was money well spent!

When I saw the machine in the shop, after only seeing it on line, I thought it is so small and light, will it do the job? The VAX I have already is the 1700W Turbo Force, which has been excellent - and still is - but the cone filter is far too expensive!
So the Mach Air Reach cone which u can 'put under the tap' was a big plus.
On using the machine, what a pleasure, so smooth and light, do not have to change the brush head for different carpet thicknesses and what it picked up was amazing - I have a dog - and the hair and dust that came up was unbelievable.
So all in all a good product - so far have not come across any negative points with the machine.
The instruction book could be improved as some detail is not too clear!

What a brilliant machine. This is the best cleaner I have ever had! Congratulations to the designer who is a genius. This is everything I wanted. It is the lightest compact little machine ever, but still powerful. All the tools click together so easily, I can clean the stairs all the way up with the expandable hose, there isn't a spider left in the house as it is so easy to reach up to the ceiling and the tops of the doors. I am only 5ft but the extensions on this make it so easy to clean just about anywhere. It empties into the dustbin with a touch of a button and the extra turbo brush is ideal on the stairs. I previously owned a Dyson but I can honestly say this machine is far superior, lighter, more powerful and altogether a joy to use and it is cheaper! Wow! Everyone should have one.

I like it. I have it as a replacement for a dyson and it is undoubtedly lighter and more manoeuvrable. Suction is great. Emptying easy. The one thing I find awkward is using the small turbine head on the stairs: since the head is not jointed it is difficult to get the right angle. Perhaps this will come with practice.

Abosolutely amazing, my wife loves it. We so happened to have a friend in our car with her dog the day before the Vax arrived, the turbo extension tool shifted the dog hairs in no time. Suction is amazing for only 1200w of power, truely well designed, the only fault is the lack of somewhere to carry the turbo tool, but not a real problem. Much smaller and lighter than a Dyson with more performance thrown in. It easily reaches the top of the stairs from the bottom. Over all 10 out of 10.

I love my new Vax. I find it nice and light to use and very light and easy to pick up if necessary. I also have a Springer Spaniel, who is a sweetie, but she does leave half her coat all over the carpets, but the Vax doesn't have any trouble picking the hairs up. I would definately reccomend the Vax to anyone.

This is my first bag less vacuum cleaner and as always my husband will check out all the other brands and give me his opinion before I make the final decision on which one to purchase. To say I am very pleased I chose the U90-MA-R Mach Air Reach is an understatement.
Being lightweight does not compromise on build quality and performance, which probably is the reason why vax can provide a 6 year warranty.

The best vacuum cleaner I have owned. So lightweight that I can easily carry it upstairs. The length of the hose enables good stair reach for cleaning and I can vacuum the whole house without changing electric sockets due to the length of the cable. The suction is powerful both in normal use and when using the attachments, whether on carpet or on hard floors. I am glad my previous vacuum cleaner stopped working as my new Vax is the best ever.

I have had a Dyson for years but am very pleased to have changed to a Vax.

Very pleased with the U90-MA-R Mach Air Reach cleaner. It is very compact compared to other cleaners and also very light which makes it easy to store and easy to use. The suction power is excellent. It comes with a very long lead which means you don't have to unplug it when you move from room to room. It's very easy to empty and clean. The hose works well and comes with an extension part and 3 accessories. I did some research before buying this product and have not been disappointed.

Mr S Thatcher

(Posted on 04/09/2010)

I have just completed an extensive cleaning with my new U90 VAX. I found the cleaner very compact and easy to use. Assembley was simple to follow and I am very pleased with all the attachments especially the additional turbo head for cleaning bedding. I had a slight problem emptying the dirt container but have since realised I could have used the advanced cleaning.
Just a couple of minor suggestions. The cord wrapping clips could be made longer as the existing ones hardly contain the length of cord.
The big plus for any manufacturer would be to incorparate a self winding system for an upright similar to those on some Cylinder Vacs.If your clever designers come up with a solution to this irritating chore please let me know.
Congratulations on producing this very light well designed cleaner.

Since using the machine, I have found it easy to use, the instruction book being very good. What came as a suprise was the length of the mains cable as it means I can plug in at my hallway and still hoover all the rooms in the house without having to unplug the machine. Very impressed with the item. It is extremely light in weight which is a bonus as most other similar machines tend to be a lot heavier.

We were delighted to be chosen to test this machine and it exceeded our expectations in every way possible. Light and compact with a wide combination of tools and accesories. For such a lightweight machine its powerful suction has restored pile to carpets that had lost that look. We have three cats and it deals with their dropped hair without any effort.

Equally as good on hard and tiled floors, this is a 5 star machine from a 5 star company and I would fully recommend this product to any prospective purchaser.

Very pleased with this product. Formerly used dysons but found them very heavy to take upstairs. Was slightly worried that a lighter machine would not perform as well - fears unfounded. Particularly like the long cable which allows you to move from room to room without continually unplugging the machine. Like the turbo tool which is VERY powerful. By coupling together the appropriate hoses and tools it is possible to clean the whole flight of our stairs just as it states in the instructions. Also emptying the cylinder is extremely easy and contains the debris better.

Very pleased overall with the cleaner. The suction is great. The only issue was that that front roller/brush was not as flexible as it should have been and when you changed handle position it kept coming off the floor. It was solved by spraying on a little WD40.

Fantastic - This is a nifty little mover, lightweight and can get under the edges of furniture. My last Vax AVC-1 has lasted over 9 years, so i was definately going to buy another. The only downside is that my old vax had a button and the electric cord went inside the machine and my new vax does not - but hence it wouldn't be so sleek if the cord went inside the vax.

Jeff Pittman

(Posted on 27/08/2010)

A whole load lighter than our previous vacuum (Dyson)and the extra long cable enables large spaces to be cleaned without constant re-siting of plug. Easy to carry up flight of stairs and very quiet to operate.

The ancillary fittings sit neatly along the column, except for the turbo attachment. Time will show how it survives. (Is it man proof??)

Rachel Jeffers

(Posted on 25/08/2010)

It's very light, so lifting it upstairs is not a problem. It picks up very well, and is easy to manoevre. The only problem I have with it, is that using the attachment is awkward, as you have to take the wand off, then detach one hose and one end of the other hose, then fit it all together, and THEN put the end attachment on! A bit of a palaver when you're switching from the wand attachment to the main vacuum cleaner. Otherwise, a good manchine.

I was not sure about buying this as I have always bought Dyson in the past. My second one gave up the ghost and I checked the website reviews of all vacuum cleaners as this seemed a good opportunity. The reviews of the Dyson were poor, when I checked the tech spec for the new ball version the suction was much lower and the reviews were poor. There were a couple of reviews on the VAX Mach Air Reach that looked good, but they definitely understated this model! Fantastic. can be lifted with one hand, not like the heavyweight Dyson. The VAX cable is so long I can vacuum upstairs whilst plugged in downstairs. Fits together easily, even has a cord hook in exactly the right place. The VAX hose and extensions are easy to use, and the extra small head brush tool is excellent for the stairs. The main brush controls are easy to use and the light is an added bonus so you can check visually. The VAX is quieter than I thought it would be, much more so that the Dyson. Pickup is amazing, I had vacuumed before so thought the carpets were clean, no way, I had to empty the VAX three times, just four days after vacuuming previously. The price is really good value, the VAX is an excellent vacuum. One criticism, there is no where to store the small brush head on the unit. Would I recommend this; wholeheartedly. Absolutely my best buy ever.

FANTASTIC!!

Very lightweight vacuum. I bought this because of the 'reach' system up the stairs. Didn't realise you could plug into downstairs socket and it would reach throughout the house without unplugging! Fabulous. I can now vacuum our 4 bed house without worrying about unplugging!
Great suction on carpet and hard floors with easy controls, just push button and you can change setting. Simple. Vax has made a brilliant vacuum which can also lay flat, go under beds/tables etc.
Very Very pleased. Thanks.

Go out and buy this superb lightweight Vax.

Stephanie Lowe

(Posted on 20/08/2010)

Delighted with this vacuum cleaner. It is reasonably light and glides well. There are no problems cleaning beneath radiators or into corners, it is easily manoevreable, and it is simple to change from carpet to tile at the press of an easily accessible button. I have great problems with my spine and not having to bend for this is a great advantage.

The vacuum suck is excellent, and emptying so easy. One of its best assets is the long cord which meakes it easy to do almost the whole bungalow in one go. This cord is also heavy and strong so there are none of those cord kinks which can be a problem.

The one thing I haven't sussed out is why it is difficult to glide over slip rugs. It just wont. I have to stop it and then tip it.
All in all excellent machine.

Really like this cleaner. Its small and easy to use. Stores away easily and can reach between dining room chair legs! I found converting to the hose tricky at first but fine now.I like the adjustable handle as I'm tall and its easy to tilt from upright with your foot. Easy to switch between carpet and hard floor too. I've found that the tools on the back tend to fall off as they are not a very tight fit and the plug clip to hold the cable in place is too tight but overall I'm pleased with it, good price too.

I have only had this machine for 2 weeks but, I highly recommend this Vax Mach Air Reach. It's lovely and light, but has a real hefty suction. Having had a Dyson Animal, at top of the range! I will never own a Dyson again, it was heavy and hard going, I used to dread taking the thing out of the cupboard ~ and then it started having heating problems and cutting out.

Now I have the Vax I am over the moon with its performance and it looks good too.

Purchased this hoover to replace my Dyson. And wow was it worth it. I can't remember my Dyson ever sucking as well as this little light weight thing. I went for this model because of the light weight and the extra hose. I no longer have to sweep my laminate floors, with a flick of a switch it switches the bar off and away it goes, it even picks up around the edges of walls. I have two cats and the odd piece of cat litter gets into the house the Vax deals with it with no problems, my Dyson used to through it back out.

As well as being light weight it is also quiet as well. It just works like a dream my carpets look like they are brand new.

There is no more to say about this hoover except PERFECTION IN A BOX :-)

Beautifully light nad manouverable. Yes the bin needs emptying more frequently but that's a small issue compared to the benefits of this little beauty. Previous cleaner had 250AW so impression is that this one (200AW) is not going to pick up 'grit' that gets into the carpet pile as it only has a rotating brush but.... ask us in 6 years time. More AW would of been comforting.

Fabulous. All my vacuum cleaners have been Hoovers and I thought it was time for a change especially as my last one was not that good.
I chose this particular model based on the feedback from the Internet.
I am not disappointed. It is light and very easy to use. I also have more wooden floors now and less carpet so it is really easy to swap between the two, just the touch of a button.
A clip was broken when I got it home, we were told either to take the Vax back to the store or they would send out a replacement we opted for the latter and within 3 days our replacement had arrived.
There is a 6 year guarantee on this model so I am confident that I will get good service if needed in the future.

This new Vax machine was bought to replace a Vax Swift cleaner which I have had for several years and found extremely good. I am highly satisfied and I would certainly recommend it to others.

In a word, it's brilliant. I've made do with cheap compact vacuum cleaners before, and I honestly didn't realise how much dirt and dust was left behind. A few weeks of using the Mach Air Reach and my floors and carpets are looking like new - carpetted surfaces in particular are really benefitting from the extra deep clean. The brush bar works like a dream in removing dust and grime.

It's also really easy to switch to the hose / brush attachment, which is brilliant for getting into nooks and crannies.

Add to that the practical extra long cable, and it's a real winner - a great appliance to have at home.

We have gone through several vacuums in this house, as we have a German Sheppard dog and a long hair white Ragdoll cat. Pet hair is abundant.

A couple months ago we purchased a new machine, with a turbo pet attachment and I thought that would be great. Alas it was not. The brush in the attachment kept clogging with hair and I spend more time cleaning the brush then actually vacuuming. I finally ended up getting on my hands and knees and rubbing the nozzle over the floor to get all the pet hair. It took me 2 hours to vacuum 2 rooms, plus it hurt my back.

When you sent me this vac and I saw the pet hair attachment I thought 'here we go again' but I was very pleasantly surprised. This machine, for being so light weight, is amazing. It picks up all the pet hair, without having to add the pet hair attachment. I can vacuum in a standing position, with no strain on my back, and get it all finished in about 10 minutes.

I am very very pleased with this vac and recommend it highly to friends and family. It is certainly a life saver.

Thank you so much for making, and allowing me to test such a great vac. I love it.

The Mach Air Reach is a wonderful machine to use, and certainly the best cleaner I have ever owned. It is easy to move round the house and the hose for the stairs is a revelation, meaning that you do not need to struggle with the cleaner, making it safer and better for your back. It is easy to clean and very lightweight and slips between carpet mode and hard floor mode at the touch of a button. I would recommend this cleaner in a heartbeat.

This is an excellent vacuum cleaner. I'm amazed by how effortlessly it vacuums floors/carpets/stairs,curtains etc. It is very light weight and doesn't seem very big (so takes up less storage space) but the handle has 8 positions so it can be used by someone small like me (5ft2") or someone over 6ft.

It is quiet and is very easy to manoeuvre - it fits under tables and other furniture with ease.It is very powerful and has great suction. It easily reaches to vacuum the stairs and has a very long cable (10m) so I only need to plug it in once to do downstairs or upstairs. It has a long reach wand to cleans curtain, pelmets, etc.

It is easy to use - just press a button to change to hard floors. Emptying it is also very easy. The design of this vacuum cleaner has been well thought out.

It comes with some tools - one of them being a turbo tool that is excellent for removing my cat's hair from furniture and carpets. It's also brilliant on the stairs.

I would recommend this vacuum cleaner to anyone. It's great if you're small, tall, young or old. My elderly mother was struggling to use her vacuum cleaner (it was too heavy for her). She has tried this and finds it really easy to use so we're going to get one for her house.

It also comes with a six year guarantee.A great buy!

Without doubt the best vacuum cleaner I've ever purchased. It's not perfect but comes very close.

It's beautifully lightweight, and even with a bad back, taking it upstairs is not difficult. It's a lot quieter than my previous make and judging by the what's being picked up is doing a very efficient job. We have 2 dogs, 2 cats so I have to empty frequently but it is very easy to empty, and refit. The filters seem to be easily accessable as well. I'm allergic to dust and am not wheezing or sneezing while using it, so a big plus for the filters.

The adjustable handle is helpful, is easy to hold and doesn't make my hand ache. It is very manoeverable and gets into a lot of tight places, the edge cleaning is excellent. Being able to switch the brush bar on/off is useful and the 2 flip catches to give access the the brush bar makes clearing it very easy. It's got a very small footprint for storage, so easy to find a home for it.

The attachments are a little fiddly as my hands are a bit stiff. But in use they seem to be efficient. I'm getting used to the pipes being integral with the handle. My other brands didn't have this but they are getting easier to use with a little practice and it has a very good reach.

Negatives. - more small niggles really as you can't have everything.

I have the reach model and the cord wind hooks arn't quite big enough for the extra lead (which really does do most of the house without unplugging) which is a nuisance. I do find the hose connection right at the base is a bit awkward, especially with a bad back. If you could find a way to have this connection higher up, this machine really would be perfect. Also with the extra hose connected there is no where to hook it up whilst in floor mode so you have to disconnect the extra bit of hose and store it.

Excellent, lightweight, picks up pet hairs easily. Good long reach extension.

Haven't had much of a chance to use machine but so far, very satisfactory.Picks up very well and leaves the carpet looking a lot cleaner. Quite light for such a powerful machine.

Instructions could be a lot better, found it very difficult figuring out where everything went but eventually got there. Could have been made easier. However, overall, very satisfied.

Excellent. My wife finds it a lot easier to use than the older Vax that we had due to the weight being approx half of our older model

So far very pleased with vac, hope it keeps up with the present powerful suction. Nice, light and easy to use and gets to where our old Dyson never reached.

Very light and easy to carry up and down stairs. Light to use and very manoeuverable. Can go under the edges of chairs and coffee tables. These are the main reasons we changed from a Dyson and are very impressed. Only slight concern is that the hose seems quite flimsy and will it stay the distance. But the Dyson was the same in this respect.
Also Vax is very competitively priced.

Absolutely brilliant, I never thought I would get excited about hoovering again! Everything Dyson says it is and isnt the Vax is (if that makes sense). The little turbo tool is amazing for doing my stairs and the small head on the machine gets into all those places my Dyson couldnt! I did have to have a 'get to know you' session but once done I was off... I have a little cottage so the long lead enables me to keep going without unplugging too many times. None of this carrying around two items, the tube AND the body bit, just one lightweight item. I only hope the plastic doesnt start splitting in numerous places like the Dyson one did but then... what a brilliant guarantee it comes with! Many thanks Lindsey Bailey

I am absolutely delighted with it. It does everything I want. My previous cleaner decided to retire and it was about 10 days before I received my Vax. I was glad nobody else was in the nouse at the time because I was amazed at the amount of dog hairs and also dust that it picked up. It is brilliant having such a long lead and I am surprised how manageable and light it is. Thank you so much. It joins my very efficient Vax heated carpet cleaner purchased at the end of last year and my wet and dry garden Vax.

Better than my last vacuum cleaner, cleans well, gets up all the dust and small particles, however needs to be emptied often and does not have anywhere to keep the stair attachment on the machine.

On opening the box of this newly product (Vax Mach Air Reach), it was simply to setup and use straight away. Although it's claimed to be light, you certainly can't lift it with one finger without struggling - this is what Vax claims in the adverts with the woman and I'm a medium-built man.

This vacuum cleaner is the replacement for my Dyson DC05 as I was quite unhappy with it. The main reason for the purchase was the extended hose reach, longer cable and Turbo Tool sealed the purchased - so did the discount at the time.

As well as using this for hoovering on a variety of carpets types and thickness, plus hard flooring, the Reach manages to do a great job at picking up dirt and dust. On thicker carpets, I activate the agitator to give it a thorough deep clean.

The Reach does a great job because of the powerful multi-cyclonic suction. I find this isn't the case with hard flooring where it feels like the Vax Mach Air Reach is floating over the surface and not getting a close enough contact. The LED light goes off on hard surfaces but lights up green when it gets good contact with carpets, a nice touch to indicate any blockages.

Another simple touch I like, there is no need for a release catch in order to tilt the Reach back for use. You only need to lightly place your foot on the Reach and tilt it back.

I was worried it would be too loud but it is quieter than many other vacuum cleaners I've used or my friends/family have. If it was too loud then I'd reconsider using it for cleaning my huge Ford Galaxy every week, but I love it. Its done a better job getting the car looking showroom clean, than any valet service I've used. The extended hose comes into its own when reaching to clean the floor.

I know from using it for a month that this will the best vacuum I've used to date and I'm very, very happy with it

The extended hose could be in a easier place to manage but and I did think there were more tools with it but otherwise it is very good and very light weight to carry around.

WOW what a superb vacuum cleaner. My old machine gave up the ghost so i was looking for a replacement.I have previously had a "hoover" and also a "dyson" but wanted to try something else.I picked the VAX MA R Mach Air Reach because it was so light, had a long cable and hose and looked like it had been put together well. And i was not dissapointed,it is very light(the lightest in the world) and it is put together very well.Only one thing i can say about the suction...WOW...it picks up everything and is super powerful and still remains quiet. I was amazed how much dust and loose fibres came up the first time i used it.(By the way i do vacuum every 2 days so i didnt expect too much dirt and dust.) The attachment for the stairs was wonderful and picked up every one of my daughters hairs (blonde and long) which my other vacuums couldnt touch.Anyone in the same boat will understand that.Anyway a BIG thumbs up from me...I would certainly recommend it to others.

I am absoulutely delighted with my new Vax Cleaner,it is so powerful even though it appears small (but perfectly formed). The extra reach hose and attachment are fantastic for cleaning the stairs, no loss of suction. After using a Dyson for a number of years I was amazed to see how much dust the vax picked up. Only down side is that the suction is too powerful for rugs so have to use the hard floor setting.

The reach is a good hoover, light weight, not bulky so stores easy when space is tight, has a good suction and can reach all of my staircase without having to lift it up any of the steps, if it had an auto rewind it would be superb, The brush head is low and so jcan get under some items of furniture if you are just doing a quick run over the carpet and is easily opened to cut out hair and threads which can bind round the brushes, Over all a good vacume hoover with a six year guarantee, you can't go wrong,

Excellent cleaner. Very light, goes anywhere, great suction and turbo tool is brilliant on the stairs.

This is the best cleaner I have ever purchased. Lots of power, I have three Maine Coon Cats, so fur on the carpet WAS a problem. Also being in my sixties carrying a heavy cleaner up and down stairs was also a problem. Its very light, the stair tool really does reach the top with ease.

Also, its very easy to empty, the brush bar is easily cleaned so each time I use it I am starting with what looks like a brand new cleaner.

I really can`t praise it enough. Well done Vax!

Very pleased so far especially with suction power, lightness and ease of use. Specially like the controls. Only slight concern is that the hose may be a weakness as it has to make a tight bend and drag against the plasic suppoert whe in use. that's a worry for the future - so far we are delighted.

thanks

The Air Reach is part of a range of vacuum cleaners that are the lightest, full size multi-cyclonic uprights in the world. It has the cleaning power and capacity of a conventional upright but weighs a third less. Its longer reach hose and cord let you clean to the top of your staircase, leaving the machine safely at the bottom. Its antibacterial H12 HEPA filter and a TurboTool mean it's also ideal for homes with pets.
