Rapide Ultra W90-RU-B

Thought this machine would be too heavy and bulky but it is not. It is like a vacuum cleaner and is very easy to use. It works very well, definitely cleaned the carpet and does not leave the carpet too wet. Overall very pleased with it. I have not yet tested the machine on cleaning upholstery so can not comment how that might work.

i find the product very easy to use, it does the job asked of it. it is very easy to assemble, very quick and efficient when washing and the carpet it is nearly dry when you have finished. we have dogs and dirty feet , this machine copes with all the dirt they bring onto my carpets. it is very easy to assemble when you require to use the hose for small stains etc. overall i would recomend this machine for normal daily cleaning, very pleased with the product. have used vax machines for many years.

Your product was bought ( under joint discussion ) by my wife before the Christmas rush, early December, to make sure every carpet in the house was averagely clean and smelt fresher.
Eleven months and two weeks of every year, the house smells of armpits and feet. A result of our age and energic sixty year olds insisting on daily exercise together with breathing of course.
Two weeks on, from the initial clean, I agree the carpets are better. Am I impressed - this is a man who is writing this.. Yes I guess I am. The fibre is a little stiffer in the carpets but that probably is a result of writer going up and down a few times more based on remembering where alcohol was spilt at previous parties throughout the year that the wife did not pick up on.
Would I recommend buying rather than hiring. A super market product machine we used looked like it might suck you up if given half the chance based on noise alone and although produced sludge never seems to work passed three weeks beyond Christmas before complaints were received about areas missed.
So yes, buy and suffering cleaning a little more than annually.
I am available for grumpy old vacuum cleaner owner party's etc., by the way.

I knew the carpets were dirty but not that dirty!
I found the clean water tank awkward to fill.
This is as good as any commercial carpet cleaner I have hired in the past.

We all love our new machine it has been a god send clearing up after our puppy, the only fault we would like to see improving is the storage of the extension pipe work for the smaller nozzles.

Used the cleaner several times found it works very well. Slight problem with the tool storage practically you can't use the storage as it keeps falling off so I keep the hose seperate not a major problem but you may want to look at a change in the storage of this piece of equipment. Overall very pleased with the product

i have used other carpet cleaners (not vax)before and have been disapointed with the results,after using my new vax for the first time i was amased with the results.

Works well, easy to operate on my long pile carpet.

Excellent carpet cleaner. We have very long pile on the carpet we wanted to clean and were not sure how any cleaner would cope. The results are far far better than we thought they would be.
We are very impressed.
The heavy use/walk areas needed a second treatment (which we expected) but now look clean.

Great machine easy to set up and use.Brings carpets up clean and leaves the house smelling fresh. Although the hall carpet wich is a very high traffic area did need doing twice,but should not be a problem if done every couple of months or so.

1. Be careful when refitting the handle clip. Ours snapped!!
2. Certainly found dirt in the first carpet we cleaned. Appears to handle & function OK.
3. When using Hose and Brush attachment for the first time the dirty water container leaked badly, but from where we couldn't establish. Slight leak at 2nd/3rd usage.
4. Rinsing out the Dirty Water container isn't that easy.
5. We still have to tackle our largest carpet - should go OK.

After purchasing the Vax Rapide Ultra I couldn't wait to try it.The Vax was easy to assemble and I found the instructions very clear and precise.We had just completed a building project and our lounge carpet had been marked with walk through stains.The vax performed brilliantly,I had to redo a few badly marked areas but it got them really clean. I went on to do the hall/stairs and bedroom carpets.The Vax was easy to use and the results were brilliant,extremely pleased with this purchase and would recommend it.

Easy enough to use,Product light in weight and quiet when in use leaves carpet reasonably dry so far so good.Two years piece of mind warranty,Hopefully i will not need to use it.

Having only recently purchased the product our initial remarks are that we are very pleased with the results the machine has given us in cleaning the stair carpet and the dining room and living room carpets.Our carpets are a light beige in colour and the traffic marks as people pass from room to room become evident with time.Having used the carpet cleaner on these carpets we have achieved excellent results in bringing the carpets back to their as new condition.

Very happy with this cleaner my carpet came up great will be letting family lend it and it will pay for itself in stead of getting other people in to clean my carpets thank you VAX great buy for me.

It is a brilliant machine. I first used it at my mother in laws. She is 94 and cannot see the things she drops resulting in very heavy stains if we do not happen to be around for a few days. It cleaned a heavy scrolled carpet without any trouble at all and left the pile almost back to its original look. A couple of places needed a second going over but these were where heavy tread had caused discolouration. Then using it at my home the deep twist carpet caused the machine no problems whatsoever. Quite the best buy i have made in some time.

Excellent machine good design really pleased A1+++++++

I researched on line and in local and nearby retailers and finally settled on the above product. The main reasons for purchasing this product were the ease of use and a great deal at Argos. I have used the product on a white carpet that has been down for some time and was pleasantly surprised at the result, although not perfect I am sure a further application will bring it up like new. I have tried hiring and borrowing carpet shampooers previously and particularly liked the ease of use of this product.
My only criticism is the size of the product making it difficult for storage when not in use, I am aware that you have a smaller model, but having a fully carpeted 4 bedroomed house I went for the more powerful motor.
Overall I am very pleased with the product and already have family and friends clambering to borrow it!

Yes very pleased with the product - does what its intended for very well - only point I would make is that the two large wheels on either side seem drag against the side of the machine preventing them rotating when the machine is heavy and in use. Checking when machine empty wheels rotate freely but there is more "wobble" on the axle than I would have expected.
Not a big problem just a nuisance but not so good if physically challenged.

I spent a considerable amount of time researching the Vax Rapide machine and despite a few negative reviews I took the plunge and bought it. I have used it twice now on very pale carpets and am delighted with the results. With a black dog and a teenager, the carpets take a hammering and having paid for someone to clean the carpets in the past I was a bit unsure about how good the vax would be in comparison (I was disgusted by how black the water was when I finished!!!!) - Great Results. I need to do some spot cleaning but overall the result is good. The trick seems to be slow and steady - you cannot whizz over the carpets like hoovering. The carpets dry out relatively quickly and the only inconvenience is having to move furniture around. It is not as loud as some reviewers seem to imply although the machine is heavier than a hoover and continued use over a short period could result in tired wrists and arms. I have carefully rinsed out the tanks and put them in the bottom of the airing cupboard for 24 hours to dry thoroughly. Only criticism so far is that there is a spring inside the suction tank which operates the 'float' mechanism and it attracts fluff and dog hairs and seems absolutely impossible to access for cleaning. I am going to try using pipe cleaners to get to it but I am worried it may cause the spring to ultimately jam and the float fail as a result - perhaps VAX will read this and provide some advice. All in all though this is a great alternative to bringing in a cleaning company and will hopefully save me money in the long run. I can certainly clean the carpets regularly now without a huge bill!!!

Used the Rapide and was really pleased with the results, easy to use and no leakage, as experienced with other cleaners! A great machine.

Very Good Cleaner, gets loads of Dirt out of the carpets and even the car seats... Only poor point would be that the spray button sometimes sticks on the vac's handle, however this is a very minor point on what is generally a very good product..

+ Cleans the carpet well
+ Dry's the carpet very well, within an hour or so it's dry !!

- Hand tool grip is a bit of a pain, doesn't stow easily.

All in all, very happy with it, and good value for money.

My machine has been very good on all but one of my carpets. The one which it did not clean very well and left very patchy was a light coloured carpet and a lot of fluff came out of it.
I was surprised how much dirt came out of my carpets and was pleased that they did not take long to dry.

This particular model does not have brushes on the upright which reach right to the edge of the carpet so I had to go round doing them by hand with a brush. There is a brush tool for use on furniture but it was not effective for the edges as they were really dirty. So perhaps it is asking too much of the machine in the circumstances.
Otherwise, I found this machine really easy to use and extremely effective on the main carpet.

I had no trouble following the user instructions. I had a really soiled carpet in our lounge where the main traffic through the door to the room plus where people sit on the lounge chairs. After lots of going over the soiled carpet area a few times i eventually got the carpet looking something like. I will probably have to repeat again soon. Would it be an improvement on the cleaner if it had two carpet pile brushes instead of one?

Excellent buy, easy and quick to use, can't believe how dirty the water was when empting the used water tank, brilliant results and the carpets were dry in no time. No faults found with the product. Would not hesitate to recommend this cleaner.

Easy to follow instructions to put the machine together and to operate. It has done an excellent job so far. The test will come when we have finished a major modernisation and re-decoration programme.

I found the cleaner did what it said and my carpets looked lovely afterwards - it is my first cleaner and very easy to use although quite big to store and lift especially on the stairs.

The negatives are that the tools do not stay in the tool carrier and that it is very difficult to clean the area that sucks up the dirty water which would otherwise be blocked if not cleaned before storing.

Overall I am glad I bought it!

Brilliant carpet cleaner. Very easy to use and the results can actually be seen as you're cleaning! With a toddler,I regularly get food and drink spilt and rubbed into the carpet but it's easier to get the carpet cleaner out rather than go on hands and knees to try to spot clean a specific area!I would recommend this machine to everyone!

Used the Vax Carpet cleaner for sitting room and stair carpets. Had really good results and lovely fresh smelling carpets in no time. This cleaner is easy to use, fill up the tank and thats it your ready to go.

A fantastic machine - best carpet cleaner I have used. It brought stains out of my carpets that I have tried everything to remove so I am delighted. The tool for cleaning upholstery and stairs is also really good and brought my 3 piece up like new. It sucks out loads of the water so carpets are almost dry when you have finished but were completely dry in 8 hours. Can thoroughly recommend it.

very easy setup brought my carpets up realy well my dinig room ;stairs and landing are cream carpets and it brought them up like new im realy pleasea with the vax rapid ultra and would recomend to anyone

done the job I wanted it to do, got 2 dogs and the carpets came up a treat. only down side I found the cleaning solutions a bit expensive

Does a good job cleaning very pleased with it. The foam in the filter is too flimsy a nylon net or something like that would be more robust.

As soon as I received this vax item, we put it to use. The performance is excellent. Tried this out on my moms carpet where there had been a dark stain for so long they thought they would have to have a new carpet, However, the vax cleaned every bit away and the carpet looks just like a new one. One very satisfied family.

Found it very easy to use. Very easy to fill with solution and quick and easy to empty the dirty water away. Had many cleaners over the years, but this is the best by far. The only fault I have is with the hand brush. it is sometimes difficult to wash a small area as the water tends to spray sideways. Not where you want it.

great machine!great price! replaced my old vax carpet cleaner which served really well as it's used every month, as i have a dog. was quite impressed how quiet it was,very easy to direct as well.so all in all very happy.

Our main aim for purchasing the Vax Rapide Ultra was to help clean a badly stained carpet for our daughter. We did not expect that it would get all of the stains out of the carpet, but in fact it did manage to get rid of the majority of them on the first attempt, after a pre treatment and main shampoo. So far we have been more than impressed with the results achieved. I found the machine very easy to use, even for the pre treatment process. I would definitely recommend this machine.

Excellent product - easy to use, fantastic results, quick to dry.

A good machine, cleans well and easy to operate, only issue is the storage of the hose and hand-tool attachment which is very poor and subject to "falling off" when operating as normal.This needs to be re-designed to make easier and more secure.
Otherwise a good buy.

Very easy to use, left my carpets looking like new. Pleased with my purchase especially as it was on offer with Argos ,so excellent value for money.

Cleaned the carpets very well, but machine rather heavy and very bulky
to lift.
Instruction leaflet requires updating into simpler language and diagrams are not very informative. I want to clean two very expensive sofas but find details on upholstery cleaning very vague and do not want to ruin my sofas.
I have e-mailed vax about this and have received details and diagrams on how to clean upholstery but this information is just as vague, so I do not feel my wife and I have achieved any thing.
Our Vax is W89 model which I have sent the exact model number to info @vax.

I was amazed at just how good the machine is. I read the reviews on the machine and thought "Oh yea, I'll wait and see". I tried it on my bathroom carpet to start with and as it is silver grey and had loads of stains on it, I thought this will really test it. To my astonishment the stains came off and the carpet came up really great.

I will recommend this machine to everyone. It does the job that it should and also the carpet is not soaking wet on completion.

Our living room carpet had not been wet cleaned for some time, and that was with our old TUB type VAX carpet cleaner. Wow!! The result with our new VAX carpet cleaner was EXCELLENT,with one aplication our carpet was visibley cleaner and looked refreshed. The machine was so easy to use, and we would recomend the VAX products to anyone.

I purchased this machine after my Bissel carpet cleaner packed in ,that unit was quite heavy to carry this VAX is about half the weight, also it has seperate tank's . filling only requires 160ml per 4litres which is quite a saving on cleaning solution, the dirty tank is easy to see showing how much dirt is coming out of the carpet and also easy to remove & replace

I HAVE HAD 2 CARPET CLEANERS IN THE PAST AND THEY WERE OK BUT HAVING USED THE RAPIDE ULTRA FOR THE FIRST TIME MY OPINION IS THAT IS MUCH BETTER THAN THE ONES I HAVE USED BEFORE.

IT IS EASY TO PUT TOGETHER AND USE,THE RUSULTS VERY GOOD.QUICK DRYING TO.

An excellent machine that does exactly what it should - clean carpets I wish we bought one years ago. The carpets come up brilliantly clean and the carpet is almost dry when the clean has been completed - I will reccomended the vax cleaner to anyone wanting to buy a new carpet cleaner. I won't be sharing mine!!

The item is very efficient,....BUT,....very heavy to move around.

The functionality of the device is great however the design of the handle and attachment storage feels like it was an after thought.

the handle is square and after just a few minutes use, becomes uncomfotable to use as well as the lever to apply solution just doesnt feel natural to press or hold. A lever on the top to apply with your thumb would feel more natural so your grip on the handle doesnt need to change.

Attachemnt storage is adequate but it would have been nice for some clips on the back to hold tubing in place rather than dangling around.

the machine was easy to set up and use, although it would have been useful to have had a measuring jug to get the right amount of shampoo!
have used the machine a few times but I have noticed that there seems to be a few lines left ont he carpet which does not seem to go if I go over them!(probably because the carpet was quite dirty!)

I am very pleased with the performance of my carpet cleaner, maybe slightly heavy after a while but it would not stop me buying it. My only complaint is the foot button that drops the handle when cleaning is very stiff, I don't know if this is just a probelm with my machine?

I was amazed at the amount of dirt the machine lifted from my carpets. They looked and felt really clean. I had the original VAX cylinder many years ago but this machine is far superior.

I am very pleased with this carpet cleaner. It is easy to use and has brought my carpets up clean and fresh.It was particularly effective in the doorway of my dining room which had been looking very grubby.

It works well. It leave carpet clean very quickly Its amaizing. I trust in it now. One thing I would like improved in it, is made a bit heavier in the front so that it can suck lots of water from the carpet. In that case, carpet will even dry more quicker.

Very pleased and impressed by the power, capacity and ease of use of my Rapide Ultra.

Generally pleased as easy to assemble and quick to use. Only complaint would be regarding cleaning of dirty water tank. First use was on a rug and there was alot of fluff, this was very difficult to get out especially from the part that makes contact with the carpet - would be great if this was quick release so you can clean out properly.

Or include in instructions how to clean out properly - incase I am just not seeing how to do it easily.

Very easy to assemble very easy to use, first carpet I tried this on did not look all that dirty (light traffic area) I was amazed to find the "dirty water" tank quickly started to fill with almost black dirty water and the carpet looked like new, Very quick to clean a whole room leaves the carpet damp rather than wet dries in a couple of hours. Using the hose and upholstery tool was able to clean the stair carpet quickly and easily. Would recommend this product without hesitation it is the best carpet cleaner I've ever used and I can find no negative points at all so thank you VAX for a great product.

All that is claimed easy to use stores away no problem, how ever have only used it the once, so time will tell

When I purchasd my Rapide Ultra, it was delivered in two days, which I was impressed with, and I am very pleased with the result it had on my hall carpet which was pretty well grimed in with dirt through constant walking in and out.

For a non commercial machine it behaves very well. The carpets are brought back to life, upholstery is brighter. Recommend this product to anyone who is looking to buy a carpet cleaner.
Down side is the cost of chemicals. Also any pet hairs are caught up in the dirty water tray and extremely difficult to remove even when flushed through.

A truly excellent product which was very easy to assemble and is also easy to use. It is lightweight which makes the cleaning of our carpet effortless and does remove stains. We have a light cream carpet which shows up stains easily, especially in autumn & winter, & the W90-RU-B Rapide Ultra removed all of them. We also have a dog and for hygenic reasons wanted to purchase the Vax Rapide Ultra to remove hairs and invisible germs etc and the Rapide Ultra is very effective in removing these. Overall, the W90-RU-B Rapide Ultra is a superb product sold at an affordable price & the free 2 year Vax warranty is super!

Does an excellent job. Only reason didn't rate it at 5 was the edge to edge cleaning isn't quite there.

I had a problem locating the serial number and model number but otherwise no problem.
I've only used it once but it did a great job of cleaning the muddy stains and cement stains from my carpet.

Fabulous

I found carpet cleaner very easy to assemble with simple instructions to follow. The water tank was easy to fill but required measuring jug to measure correct amount of cleaning fluid to put in.

The cleaner was light and easy to handle and you could see the difference in the carpet after a couple of passes. Releasing the fluid on the forward motion and sucking up the fluid on the backward motion worked the best.

The hose attachment for the stairs was also easy to clip on and was very easy to use.

I was surprised how little water was left in the carpet on completion and the carpet soon dried out completely. Overall I was very pleased with the carpet cleaner.

Fantastic machine. I bought it as my carpets really need cleaning. Especialy with having 2 dogs. 1 is only a puppy so I needed something good to clean up after the little accidents she had while she was been house trained.
I have used it and the carpets came up really really clean. And what i was really amazed at was how dry they were after using the Vax.
I would certainly recommend this one to anyone who is thinking of buying one. It's so easy to use.
The only downside I have found is storing the electric cord. There does not seem to be proprer hook to wrap the cord up. Hence the 4.5 score. But otherwise a brilliant product.

Very effective cleaner and the colour of the water sucked up even on a seemingly clean carpet is dark and filthy looking. It is better built than previous cleaners i have had but the clean water tank valve is not briliant and does leak slightly before mounting in the machine. Overall a good cleaner for the price and essential in a carpeted house with children!

My wife says its very good the carpets dry very quickly but its not very easy to get in corners she has only used it once on our main room
but she was very pleased with the results, going to do the rest of the house at the weekend scores 8/10 wants to know besides argos where to get vax ultra + carpet cleaning solution.

I have a very old poodle who has now become incontinent. The carpet in the room where he slept has been soiled. I have pre-treated and shampood as directed and

my only gripe is trying to clean out the dirty water container afterwards, having to tip it in every possible direction to remover the water and rinse it, plus it is impossible to remove some of the dog hair that has been caught up and trapped inside.

i think the vax was excellant good powerful cleaning suction very good the only thing i would have liked was i would have liked the hose to have been a metre longer then i would not have had to carry a very heavy loaded machine up stairs the overall cleaning was very good. i am glad i bought that machine

I had cleaned most of my carpets but my old cleaner of 2 years broke,
this cleaner got a lot more dirt out of the carpets that I cleaned only yesterday,
so I am very impresed with it.

A great gadget to keep your carpets and upholstery clean. It is a very effective cleaner with the ability to get rid of stubborn stain- maybe not at the first go but patience definitely pays off. The upholstery took is amazing and works wonders on stairs.
The main downside is that it is rather on the heavy side when filled with water.

We were very impressed, we had used a friends machine and decided to buy one for ourselves.

This is second vax machine I have owned. It is still very heavy to handle, the hose stowing arrangements are worse than before and due to its increased weight and large rear wheels is very difficult to manouevre when cleaning carpet. The cleaning of the dirty water tank is slightly improved although any hair etc trapped inside still cannot be flushed away. Electric cable storage is poor.

This machine was so easy to put together,and so easy and efficiant . the results on our carpets was amazing .

I am very satisfied with this product, seems to wash well and leaves the carpet nearly dry. The product is also easy to use. The only thing I have found wrong with it is the shut off for the dirty tank doesn't work properly, you only know the tank needs emptying is when water starts coming out the back

Very pleased with my carpet cleaner. We have had a lot of building work done in our house and as a result our carpets have got very dirty. Rather than purchase new carpets I thought I would try the carpet cleaner first to see if it would get them clean again and I am very surprised and pleased with the results. I have had to clean a couple of times as they were extremely dirty but to my surprise it has brought my carpets up lovely. For any "normal" carpet which hasnt been through what ours have, I am sure you will get excellent results first clean. It have already made the return in costs from the purchase of my cleaner just by not having to replace the carpets and also have the added bonus that I can "spruce" them up whenever I want. If I have any negative thing to say about it, it is just the "on board tool" storage. There are no written instruction as to how you should secure them onto the machine, just a diagram in the booklet. Although I consider myself to be an intelligent person, when I tried to put them on the same way as the diagram, they did not stay secure on the machine and kept falling off. So I ignored the diagram and just "did my own thing" to secure them on and havn't had any problems since . But this is just a minor gripe and should not in anyway put anyone off purchasing the machine. I am so glad I bought my vax cleaner and would recommend to anyone thinking about it.

good machine but it is a nuisance not having a convenient measure for the fluid for example in the cap of the water container - this used to be present on an earlier model where it was simple just to fill up the cap and pour into the conntainer - how man people know what 40ml is? Would also be useful if there was a warning light to tell you fluid had run out. Small points but ones which would make a real difference.

Cleaned three carpets -excellent . Surprised how much dirty water came out, also how dry the carpet was just after cleaning. Would recommend this machine to anyone

Found it to be satisfactory, as much as anything is compared with doing it by hand with a scrubbing brush. Obviously the water suction is a plus. The handle "slot" could be a little bigger, not that I have a large hand, but I found that there was a tendency to depress the application handle when on the suction backstroke.

Once we got it together,not really that bad it was easy to use. Iwas suprised however it was. The carpets came up quite clean, but stubborn marks remained, we will have to have another go

So far it does a wonderful cleaning job. I had a Bissel before and it was nowhere near as good. It is lighter, quicker and easier to use and does a much more thorough job.

easy to use. seems to be very effective. tried it out on carpet on rear lobby and the results were extremely good. carpet look much better and was left almost completely dry.

Very easy to set-up and gives great results.. not heavy or hard to move around. One possible improvement is if the clean water for the solution tank had a ltr or some kind of measuring guide make it a lot easier to set-up

We had a Bex Bissel Pro Heat it broke and would have cost a lot to repair.When I saw the offer for this at Argos and found it had a 1000 watt motor,I took the plunge and was not disappointed. It is simpler to operate, only 1 tool, but left the carpet and upholstery quite dry. Would recommend this machine. The hose attatchment did squirt out a lot, but a minor fault. The hose was just long enough to do the stairs. Glad we bought it.

Very easy to use and the results were excellent. Its a large machine and you need a space to store it, but well worth every penny and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good carpet cleaner.

I had the old vax cylinder hoover which was past its better days. So bought this omg it does exactely what it says brings carpets up clean. I have cream carpets all threw the house and this is my help i wanted to keep them clean. I have family and friends now asking to borrow this. I would definately reccomend this to anybody that asks.

I found this a joy to use and the quality of the materials used on the Vax is of a very good quality - no cheap plastic bits, unlike a bagless vacuum type I could mention. My wife and I are 73 yers of age and find this machine very easy to use, also the instructions are clear and precise. Very pleased indeed with the results after cleaning the carpets.

How on earth did I manage with out my new Vax? I am absolutely chuffed to bits with my puchase, but I am keeping it quiet or everyone I know will want to borrow it! Serious now, it's an awesome carpet washer, I love it! My daughters bedroom carpet was quite grubby, teenagers eh? Really stubborn, sticky looking marks came up with just a few swipes of the Vax. My puppy was sick on my stairs carpet and within minutes you would never had known, all because of the Vax. It really is so very easy to use, I had a carpet washer about 20 years ago and it took ages to get ready and was heavy and bulky and time consuming, it was hard work. The Vax is a joy and not too noisy either. I was totally shocked by the colour of the water in the dirty water tank when I finished, I now know my carpets are lovely and clean and fresh. My puppy and I thank you Vax people :o)

We were worried we would not be able to assemble the Vax but found it reasonably easy. The hose is a bit of a trial but still a very useful gadget.

Very pleased with the machine, a very effective piece of kit. Two drawbacks though in my opinion; firstly, it's a very hefty tool and quite bulky. I'd like to see a facility whereby perhaps the handle can be folded down allowing it to fit under a worktop/shelf.
Secondly, it's proved just about impossible to clean the "dirty water" tank. No real problem but it looks pretty disgusting with strands of hair lurking in full view.
Other than these two relatively minor problems, very pleased.

We (my wife and myself) found the cleaner very easy to put to-gether after removing it from the packaging. The instructions on how to operate it were easy to understand. Using the cleaner was straightforward and we found it excellent in the way it cleaned our carpets and were very happy at how quickly they dried. Cleaning the cleaner after use was easy enough. All in all a very satisfactory purchase.

Having recently bought it to replace my old cleaner which was another make and never seemed to clean thoroughly, I have cleaned my three carpets, one is ten years old but it brought it up like new and cleaned better than my previous one and it was dry enough to walk on after one hour, Brillant. Wish I had bought one long time ago. Can't wait to use it on my furniture now.

Item worked better than we expected it. Had a few minor teething problems with lack of suction (some dog fur had trapped the float so was not sucking up the dirty water). Once we'd worked out how to clear this, which was awkward due the one-piece nature of the housing, it was back to full suction. Great product and has really made all of our carpets looks like new. Would definitely this to other people especially those with pets and small children.

Absolutely brilliant it does what it says, lifts the pile and cleans the carpet at the same time. A bit pricey but worth it.

Found the Rapide Ultra very easy to use and my hall carpet has cleaned up a treat. An indication of how much liquid the clean water tank can hold would be beneficial when mixing the solution. Otherwise no problems and delighted with the machine and its performance.

Well worth the money, removed the marks straight away and dries quickly. The only thing is it's a bit heavy to lift when going up the stairs but apart from that great.

My Vax arrived well packed and was easy to put together which meant I was up and running in minutes. My carpets are cream so I was amazed at the amount of dirt the Vax removed. I will need to give the traffic areas a couple of cleans but can already see a huge improvement.

My only slight moan is the hose for cleaning upholstery is difficult to wind around the back of the machine - a 40ml measure for the cleaning fluid would also be useful.

A smart looking machine that performs equally well. Cleans carpets and upholstery extremely well.
I find the storage "rack" a little difficult and after many attempts the hose and cord hardly tucks away neatly. The brief instruction leaflet gives no clue as to how it ought to be stored.
Another minor improvement would be to have a marked scale of litres on the water bottle. Even if it were just at litre invervals and the cap of washing solution ought to be a "measured" amount. I ended up having to use a cooking jug and filling it 8 times to find the water tank took 4 litres and my wife was not best pleased to find I had used the same jug to measure the "washing liquid"!!
Minor concerns when put against the excellent cleaning the machine achieves.

Hi, I have just used my Vax to clean my Lounge carpet and was very impressed as hw simple this was and a very good result.

Assembling was easy but took a little bit of time how to use it correctly as had a few problems. Carpet was left quite wet at first and then stopped cleaning,but think although we had vacuumed the carpet previously there was too much fluff and it clogged up the machine. So always vacuum carpets several times prior to cleaning. Am disappointed with results on our Berber stair carpet and bedroom. Did not think it was up to the usual Vax Standard, especially as we have always bought Vax Products for many years and found them to be excellent.

I was bought this machine as a gift and have just got around to using it. I found it much easier to use than my last carpet cleaner as it is an upright model and more up to date. The instructions are easy to follow and the machine did a good job on the carpet of a room which is used all day every day.

Rather like the TV ad I have ivory/ cream coloured rugs and a dog: under normal circumstances perhaps not a very sensible combination! However, using my new Vax Rapide Ultra has restored my lounge rugs to their original condition and colour. Vacuuming alone is just not enough - the Vax Rapide Ultra is impressive and easy to use although I did experience one small problem; the clean water tank leaked slightly when carring it back to the cleaner after I had filled it with clean solution...

Although this machine is quite heavy to use the results were amazing. Carpets and suite look like new. All my friends and relatives thought they had been cleaned proffessionally

Having now used this I can say I am quite impressed. I have had a Rapide Deluxe model in the past which has been used and used so had pretty much decided I wanted another vax machine. I shopped round for best prices and looked at various different makes and models and read all the reviews and then finally decided on this model. It makes short work of our lounge and dining room as it has a larger base than the rapide deluxe model which for me is a bonus, however it does mean its on the heavy side for lifting when you've got the water tank fulled to maximum. Having said that though you don't have to keep stopping to fill up which is a good thing. I enjoyed (if that what you can call it) cleaning the carpets that I continued and did the whole house the same day. So we now have a lovely clean and fresh home. The only down side is the cost of the cleaning shampoo and I'm not yet sure if I think it is quite as good as the shampoo for the Rapide Deluxe model. Overall I am extremely happy with the cleaner and would recommend it to anyone who wants to keep their carpets lovely and clean. It makes it an even better product when it only cost

this carpet washer is an excelent buy.it is so easy to use,my carpets came up well clean and were dry in a couple of hours due to the great suction it has.the tanks are a good size too and are easy to fill and clean.it also did a great job on my dining chairs.i did my research to find the machine i wanted this one had so many good revues and i was not dissapointed, a great machine at a good price. i would definitely recommend.

Our carpets (some cream coloured) have taken a lot of abuse over the past several years from our children and dogs. The Vax has improved the visual state of the carpets, freshened them up and given them a new lease of life.

very pleased with the results on its firts use, easy to set up and use, I had a bissel one before that went wrong several times and did not clean as well as this model even though it was twice the price. I have used the rapide several times now and very happy with the results was very quick to use on a coffee spill.nmy only grumble is that the method of empting the dirty water tank is a bit messy and had to clean any residue of dirt or soap from it, maybe relocating the hole to a corner or the bottom. but overall very satified

I have always had the smaller VAX.So this time decided to get the rapide ultra as having a dog needed something that would get the muddy paws out of a light colored carpet.Very pleased with the results.Now my daughter has borrowed it to do her carpets with.Very happy to recommend to a friend.

Having used one of the first Vax carpet cleaners (Vax 2000)for many years I recently purchased the Rapide. Much easier to move around and not so much hard work! The carpets are left relatively dry as soon as the cleaner has sucked the fluid back into the waste reservoir.

I've used the hose and hand attachment to clean the stair carpet and this is great as well, although you do seem to end up with a small flood around the front wheels of the machine (suspect some leakage from the waste water tank slot where the surface water is usually sucked up from the carpet being cleaned).

The lugs to fix the tool caddy to the machine are not up to the job. Mine were broken in the packaging before opening the box. Free replacements only lasted a short time and now the tools and caddy sit in the garden shed until required. So VAX Product Designers a re-think is required here.

I have been very impressed with the cleaning performance of this cleaner.My Axminster carpet is over 10 years old and though it is cleaned regularly by 'hoovering' the result after use brought the carpet back to an almost new condition.

I found it surprisingly easy to use compared with carpet cleaners Ihave used in the passed.
The results on the carpets I have cleaned especially as they are light coloured and had deply ingrained dirt maks where they have been heavily used but the machine easily dealt with them and the carpets now look as they did when new.
The macine was just as easy to clean and stow away after use when compared with previous cleaners in fact it still looks as new.

Great bit of kit, really cleans carpets well. Heavy soiling needed a couple of goes, but it came up trumps. Very impressed with performance for price.

I have only used it once at the moment and it good and easy to use. The one critisism is when emptying and cleaning, there are so many nooks and grannies that the dirt gets caught and its a bit difficult to clean properly. otherwise so far its ok.

We are delighted with our recent purchase W90-RU-B Rapide Ultra. Our six years old carpet (....haven't give it a thorough clean except the usual vaccuming)is having 'walking trail' on it. We pretreat those area for at least 15 mins with some scrubbing using pretreatment solution and this is followed by cleaning the area (living room) twice using Vax cleaning solution Ultra. Now my carpet looks as good as new. Very happy with the result.

The credit crunch sadly saw our business go under and lost our home as a result. We now rent a property and have regular agency inspections. With two active kids we have necessarily used a "rug doctor" costing

For ease of use, the machine is brilliant. The clean and dirty water tanks maybe a little small, seem to be filling up and emptying more than cleaning. Cleaning is very good, i've got a Boxer dog with a nasty habit of not cleaning her feet sometimes, and the difference made to the carpets after cleaning was clear to see for all. Very very good, you don't realise how dirty the carpets were before cleaning. So, for the job intended, the Vax cleaner was a very good buy.
Only other gripe was how the stair cleaning pipe fitted to the unit, a bit clumbersome, but no big deal. All in all, pretty good cleaner.

Fantastic buy. Was amazed how much cleaner my carpets are! They like new now! Have had other carpet cleaners in the past and they just give up working after the first time I used it. Was really easy to assemble to use and just filled with water and Vax solution easy as that. Best thing I've bought in ages that does exactly what it states it does! Having previously owned a Rapide XL I find the Ultra so much easier to use. Its simpler with its single trigger rather than multiple buttons.

At first glance I thought it looked a little more plasticky and less sturdy than my old Vax but I neednt have worried. Its lighter, a little smaller in size and noticeably quieter too, all important improvements.

Its early days, in fact we used it for the first time today when our lad was ill and the carpet needed a quick and thorough clean up, but first impressions are good. The carpet looks a whole lot cleaner now than it has done in some while. The only bad news is we can't stop at just the one room now...back to work.

It is early days but so far the product has performed excellently. It is every bit as effective as the machines available for hire from the DIY stores, and far easier to manoeuvre.

In addition I am very impressed with the fact that the carpets are left relatively dry after cleaning and are back in use in quick time.

Very, very effective. Very heavy - may be a problem for some users. Clean water tank filler should be a larger diameter - a little difficult to fill; I have bought a funnel,(this is a common comment from other reviewers).

Capcity of clean water tank should be stated on pages 6 and 7 of the user guide, to aid with soultion dose, (or marked on the tank) - not hidden away in specifications page 13 (this is also a common comment from other reviewers).

A mini 'turbo-brush' would be nice - a wash tool with rotating brushbar. Not essential, but a nice addition to the design.

I've only used the machine once (in one room) since purchasing and I was really pleased with how much cleaner my carpet was. I can't wait to see the results on the rest of my carpets.

Excellent back up service.The Rapide Ultra does what its supposed to do very efficiently.The stairs/upholstery cleaning tool is much improved from former models but the unit is quite heavy and can be awkward and cumbersome when using on the stairs-requires 2 people to perform this task.

Once I got over my initial trepidation of using the Vax machine in case I oversoaked the carpet, I found it very easy to use. As a possible new but small design feature and I am sorry if it is already in place and I overlooked it, it would have been good for me if the clean water/solution tank had a maximum fill line indicator with the volume, so that I could have calculated how much to use instead of repeatedly filling with empty two-litre pop bottles. After all that, it did a great job and removed all my dog's dirty paw marks and weeks of builders dirt and dust. Thanks, P. Day

Have so far used the machine three times and there is no doubt that it cleans well. With three pets and three grandchildren the carpets do take a bit of a pasting. The hose on the back of the machine is annoying and falls off a lot so now I leave it off all the time. Machine worked fine the first two times I used it, but the third time was leaking water out underneath which I haven't yet managed to work out. I also haven't yet got the hang of applying the solution evenly and effectively through the hose nozzle. I am hoping it is a question of practice and not that it is just not very effective. carpets are left clean and if you don't apply too much solution are dry enough to walk on and then pretty much completely dry within the hour. Quite hard to clean the dirty water container, especially if it picks up carpet fibres which are hard to get out. On the whole well worth the money, as it was on offer when I bought it.

I have been delighted with how clean my carpets have come from using the new Vax Carpet Cleaner. I wish that wrapping the long hose for storage was easier than it is right now. Otherwise the machine as been very good, I have not had the opportunity to use the hose attachment so far but no doubt it will be as good as the machine.

Heavy when filled with water but that's good - gives close contact with the carpet. Foot switch to lower the handle is a bit quirky to operate but not a show stopper! The water connection for the hand tool needs firmly clipped into place otherwise there's no water flow. Good performance when it does however. No pre treatment tool as in the Rapide Ultra 2 but that's the only difference and quite honestly it's not needed - and the Rapide is much cheaper. Once you use the hand tool I wouldn't bother trying to wind the hose back on the carrier - just hang it up in your garage , shed etc! Does it work - you bet it does -fabulous performance even with just warm water. Overall - a no brainer just buy it!

The Carpet washer W90-RU Rapide Ultra did exactly what it says it does; deep cleaning and left my carpet almost dry, and looking nearly new. Very easy to use.

Works well, can leave some grubby carpet bits around but they soon get cleared up. Not a miracle worker but does make the carpet look and smell better by far.

My carpet is like brand new! The machine is very easy to use once you get the hang of it. The Hall carpet gets a great of traffic and has come up lovely and clean.

On the plus side it is a very good and efficient carpet cleaner. It's easy to use and not too heavy. On the negative side it's a bit of a fiddle to put together the first time. It also takes time to clean it properly after use - worth it though.

This is the best carpet washer I have used and I've tried a few. It's easy to assemble, does a thorough job and is easily cleaned afterwards. The on board tools are handy too and make it easy to clean stairs/upholstery.

I am extremely pleased with this carpet cleaner. In the past i have previously hired a carpet cleaner to use myself or hired someone to come in to clean my carpets.

I found the VAX very good the filling and emptying of the tanks very clean, except some of the carpet fluff was a little difficult to get out of the dirty tank, this was a minor problem. You could actually see the dirt come out of the carpet. The cable is a good length. The lever to drop the machine ready for cleaning could do with being on the right hand side of the machine as I am right handed, and the on off switch probably would be better nearer to the top of the machine. These are my thoughts only and I am sure these minor details will be overcome with more use.

Really pleased with this product. After trying lots of other carpet cleaners I found this really easy to use, especially because it was upright like a standard vacuum cleaner.

I liked it so much I showed it to members of my family and my parents have just been to buy the next model up which heats and uses brushes underneath and they are really pleased with that too.

The only thing I would like to mention for future versions of this product is maybe a dirty water tank that does not have too many crevices and corners where dog hairs can get stuck. Not sure how you could alter that because of the design/how it works but it is very difficult to get the hairs out as even rinsing with water the hairs get stuck and you cannot get your hand in to get them out.

Other than that an excellent buy and on my top ten of best ever buys, well worth the money.

Excellent product. I bought the cleaner for use in my static caravan. The problem with caravans is that the carpets are not easily kept clean due to the heavy traffic of visitors in and out all the time. The vax makes keeping the carpets clean so much easier.

Have thought about renting a carpet cleaner to clean some 5 year old cream carpets for a while but saw and advert for the vax and so starting looking at reviews for that. Almost all I saw were excellent and so, with some trepidation, bought the VAX.

I have to say that I have not been dissapointed. The build quality of the cleaner is excellent and most spares can be purchased. The cleaner is easy to put together and both the clean water and dirty water tanks, easy to install and remove. In use, the cleaner has a solid feel and is just the right weight. I did find that it used quite a lot of water (but that might just have been me) and the tank required regular refilling (and the dirty tank emptying). That said the cleaner did not leave the carpets very wet and certainly cleaner the carpets well removing most of the marks on first go. The dirty water tank is testiment to this!

Overall, very impressed

The W90-RU-B was very simple to set up and use. The instructions were easy to follow and we were up and running very quickly. The machine extracts a lot of the moisture and the carpet dried very quickly. An excellent machine. Only problem is the price of the cleaning fluid.

Yeah it was great just to see results in the carpet and have the power there to do it, it was good because it just felt like using a upright hoover with not a lot of hassle.

Excellent buy. My carpets came up like new. I do have animals and they tend to make things grubby but the vax dealt with that! The o nly problem I had was getting it out of its box which is heavy and more like a wardrobe but I managed in the end!

I spent a lot of money having my carpets professionally cleaned only for my son to spill drink on it a couple of weeks later. My Vax was a comparable price of one professional clean and does an equally good job - plus it is always there for those "little accidents". It is quite big to store, but it is much easier to set up and clean out than the old combined vacuum / washers. Overall I'm delighted with my purchase and would highly recommend it.

So far I have not used the machine (due to illness). Easy to put together, BUT instructions on the 'pipe' part for the hand held tool is terrible, I ended up just taping it on. Not sure how strong it is goint to be (had a Bissel Pro Heat last time). Bought it due to being soooo much lighter than last machine, which is a BIG PLUS. Rated only on comments listed, but sure it will be fine.

I was very pleased with how easy it was to use, and it cleaned the carpets perfectly. it is the best carpet cleaner I have ever used and the results match those of the professional cleaners that you can hire.

This machine is excellant, made my carpets look brand new. The only down side is it is difficult to clean the dirty water out. Solve that and its perfect.

Very satisfied. Much more effective and easier to use than our previous Vax model. The dirty water needs emptying more often otherwise the machine produces too much foam, but this is not a problem once one gets used to it.

Excellent pice of kit. O<b></b>nly problem I have found is the jet spray from the hand held upholstery brush is too wide, the water goes everywhere appart from where you want it. Its ok when you are doing stairs but the suit and the car are a problem.

I've had one of the original Vax machines for many years but was finding it hard to use as I got older. I bought the Rapide as a replacement and I am very pleased with the results my carpets look much brighter. It is very easy to use and filling and emptying are simple. I am very happy with my purchase.

Easily assembled in minutes for a quick wash if your using the appliance for household carpets. Large water tank which does the trick and the hose can be a pain when trying to wrap it around the machine when finished but does the job very well. My car carpets came clean in ten minutes. Its light to carry, stylish in looks, what more can I ask. Paid 110 pounds in the Argos sale, bargin.

Excellent device, it was even better than I imagined it would be.

Very easy to assemble and use. Did a great job on a carpet I had given up on. Would be nice to have liter markers on the reservoir so you know how much cleaner to add. Also, it does drip a little water after use, but this is to be expected. Altogether, very happy with it.

Good tool, works well, plenty of power, and better than our previous shampooer, but can i suggest a possible improvement - adapt the hose carrier so that it can be wall mounted when removed. This would be a small but handy mod.

Brought carpet up like new, I was surprised how quick carpets dried considering I did it in Jan. Much better than machines i've hired in the past. Well worth its money. Even the nozzle piece worked as good as the main hoover side. Can't work out how to store nozzle on hoover gets in the way, so its stored seperately. Bargain as bought it in the argos sale.

This was a replacement for my older vax carpet washer, and I must say it has come on a long way from that one. Being able to put the shampoo and water in the same easy to fill tank is a great improvement. My carpets looked really clean after use. The only disadvantage I have found with this product is that it is a bit heavy and hard to balance when cleaning the stairway. Other than that I would be happy to recommend this product to a friend.

As described - powerfull motor and suction. The rotating brushes make it easier to clean the carpet by lifting the dirt to the surface to allow the same to sucked up into the dirty water tank. We found that it was easier to return the dirty water tank than it was on the Rapide XL - Thwe capacity of the clean water tank was good, although the design of the Rapide XL with a separate shampoo tank is more beneficial as none of the shampoo is thrown away when emptying the clean water tank, as it does in the new version. On the whole value for money with the 2 year guarantee.

Very pleased with the results so far, have not had time to do any really large areas yet. Going by how dirty the water is it after doing just a small area it must be doing the trick. The areas that have been done are looking very good. Thanking you. B.Flowers.

Unpacked and used within 10 minutes of its arrival great suction carpets dried within the hour and the brush bar brings the pile of the carpet back to looking new. The only problem is winding the cord and the uphoslstery brush on the back of the machine as the instructions are not very clear how to do this. Other than this minor problem have no hesitation in recommending this machine excellent value for money

Very easy to use product. The only hard part is coiling the hose back round the cleaner. It now sits on a shelf by itself. However it does not detract from the overall product rating.

Fabulous machine! Very easy to put together. My grubby floors have come up like new! The only thing is my hubby now says that because the carpets look so great - we don't need to buy new carpets anymore! The only negative point of the machine is that if the VAX stops sucking liquids at any time - check the filter and clean it - it can clog up quite quickly (especially if your floors were as grubby as mine!)

Great product carpets cleaned and now look like new!

A very good buy, has completed everything that it says and more. Used it for my sons new home, cleaned secondhand carpets and three piece suite, both have come up like new. Easy to handle not at all complicated.I enjoyed doing the tasks because everything was so clean when I had finished, Son was over the moon, he thought he would have to throw out the carpets and buy new.

Found the product to be very easy to use, for both carpets and upholstery and would reccomend to others.

We had a carpet cleaner before until it broke. This new machine is twice as light as the old one making manoevreability much easier and it cleaned the carpets to perfection, was virtually dry and made the carpet very springy when you walked on it. In all I would really receommend this carpet cleaner.

The machine works fine and is very easy to operate but the pipe and cable storeage is complicated and does not work well. We usually leave the pipe hanging up when it is not in use. Is it not possible to re design the storeage to make it easier to use. Regards Andrea

Carpets came up absoluely great, even better than i expected, look like the day i bought them, also cleaned my recliner chair and it also came up great. The only downfall is, my mother now wants me to clean her carpets.

The Rapide Ultra is a very easy machine to use - as easy as vacuuming your carpet. I particularly liked the way the carpet only needed to be left afterwards for about an hour before it was completely dry. I have to say that I have only used this machine so far on short pile carpets but see no reason why deeper piles should not be cleaned just as well. So far - so good!

A brilliant machine, l didn't want to have to scrub away for weeks on end when l dropped a whole cup of coffee on a cream carpet... yes l know, what an idiot, but accidents happen, what l didn't expect was a spotless carpet after a very short time,l was very very pleased.

Easy to use and assemble, the tanks are big enough to do a decent wash without having to refill every 3 or 4 minutes, but not too heavy when emptying. Don't try lifting the whole thing too often as it is rather heavy, but the hose is long enough for stairs,so unless you want muscles, just push.

My only complaint is that the filter clogs up rather quickly, and if you don't realise, then you do get a little spillage from underneath, but no problem as the Rapide Ultra will suck up any liquids. Carpets were dry enough to walk on within a couple of hours,and as the fibres had all been lifted, they really felt nice.

A little more expensive than some machines, but when you want clean, rejuvinated carpets without too much effort, then this is worth every penny.

Assembly. The cleaner was amazingly easy to assemble, took about 30secs. Score 10/10

Storage. As we did not want to use the cleaner straight out of the box we decided to store it for a few days and that is when the first problems emerged. Whoever designed the storage frame for the hose and cable cannot of tried to use it. The instructions for storage are useless and, once we worked out what was meant to happen, we found that it was very awkward winding on the accessory tube. Then we found that, to wind on the cable, the appliance end of the tube needed to be unclipped. Finally the cable clip provided is about 2 sizes too small for the cable. Score 2/10 (and that's just because the rack is provided).

Filling the machine. The detergent tank is easy to remove but the filler orifice could gave been wider and, as many reviews have asked, why, oh why, was no measuring cup supplied. Not many household measures can easily cope with 40ml (we used one from liquid fertilizer!). Score 7.5/10

Cleaning the carpet. The machine was slightly heavy for a woman to manipulate, but not seriously so. Score 9/10

Cleaning the machine. Generally easy but some 'fluff' manged to bypass the filter and has become attached to the float. Score 9/10

I used the machine in my lounge and was very pleased with the results

Having only used it once so far, it is hard to give a full rewiew, but it seemed to do the job i bought it for. we are at the moment potty training my daughter, so you can emagine the accidents we are dealing with. on reflection it will be perfect for that.

When I unpacked I foolishly lost the handle pin, I contacted VAX and explained my predicament, VAX sent a replacement within 2 DAYS, That is not only remarkable in this age of unhelpfulness but proof positive that I was dealing with a company of the first degree.

The carpet cleaner did the job better than I hoped, as I had a water stain on my carpet at the doorway to my kitchen (caused by a leak from the house above...not my bad housekeeping). The stain has disappeared after only 2 cleanings. Being a water stain at the worst place for traffic in the house, I am not only very impressed but pleasently surprised.

Will I pass on the good word regarding VAX CARPET CLEANERS?....sorry your too late that has already been done and will continue.
