Kitchen and Bathroom Master S5

Fabulous little machine. Love cleaning now - can't believe I've written that! Very effective. Windows are sparkling, doors, gloss paintwork, kitchen and bathrooms are sparkling. Removed an old dried-in juice stain from my son's mattress which I would not have thought possible. Some areas, particularly greasy ones (top of kitchen cupboards for example) will require an few cleaning attempts, but at least machine will allow me to maintain cleanliness.

This is my second machine: the first developed a fault after a few uses. I emailed Vax for advice and was offered and then received a free replacement within days.

I loved it very easy to use and does a great job of floors and tiles. It blasts off even tough dirt so it can just be wiped away and leaves a nice clean smell. Sadly mine started leaking within 2mths but vax customer svces were amazing, very friendly and talked me through the returns process with no quibbles. My replacement arrived in just over a week even at Xmas. Despite the setback I missed it while it was gone and I'm glad to have it back.

Pros: it's pretty powerful and comes with a great variety of tools. Does a great job of floors and dries quicker than mopping leaving no watermarks.
Cons: takes a while to heat up.

Very good cleaner you must remember when water is empty to switch off and relese pressure by keeping triger pressed this allows you to unskrew and top up with water

The S5 was bought for specific reasons. The machine instructions were easy to understand and unlike other machines was comfortable and felt totally safe to use.

I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of buying a steam cleaner

Brilliant machine.The difference it has made to my shower cubicle makes it look like new and so easy to use compared with my old hand held steamer. Really impressed.

I am over the moon with my cleaner.I have only two things to say about it,1 the clips that the carpet pad is held by is not very strong.2 could do with 2 pads so you can wash one,when the other is being used.And can i get others from you.very happy,thank you

The product does what it claims, however, the grout brush and the small round brush could do to be more substantial. After only one use on a particularly stained surface, I have had to order replacements.

Works really well and whilst it's heating up I prepare for whatever area I will be cleaning. The long cord makes it easy to take care of several areas/rooms in a single go and the tank lasts quite a while. I also like the assortment of attachments - although, would've liked a steel bristle or brass bristle brush for heavy duty scrubbing. I use it on surfaces, glass and windows, toilet, floor, shower and tub - really everywhere. I also use it to spot clean carpets and all around cleaning - not just bath and kitchen.

It is a very effective product. I have already tackled the bathroom tiles and I cannot wait to use it in other parts of the house.

This is my first time with a steam cleaner and this machine certainly does not disappoint. The tools are stored in the unit ( so no lost attachments) its easy to set up and and start using. The unit is on wheels so easy to move around when full with water,there is a generous lead so I could easy reach the area I was cleaning

I used it for the first time on my bathromm tiles, and they came up like new, I then tackled my kitchen floor, again very pleased with the results

The only negative I can see is its does not appear to let you know when you are getting low on water/steam.

Overall a great machine for cleaning all around your house at a very good price.

Would recommend this machine

Used this item twice and it worked really well but on the third time it would not steam for very long and then just would not work. Have since got a replacement and it seems to be working just fine but only used it once. The customer service was very good and could not fault it at all .Many thanks.

The machine sprays out alot of water as well as steam making surfaces quite wet, and the extension attachments for using the floor accessory are very flimsy. i feel they will break if i extert enough presure to decently clean a carpet.

dissapointing it doesn't clean grout, ok on hard floors.

I bought this machine as I wanted to steam clean curtains and carpets. I have just cleaned my curtains and I am very happy with the results. The machine is light, easy to use and compact. It was quick and simple to clean the curtains and I plan to do the carpets in the spring.

I bought the S5 Kitchen and Bathroom Master as a replacement for a rather larger steamer bought quite a few years ago and I must say I am very pleased with it. I find the steam time quite adequate for my purposes and it is every bit as efficient as my previous steamer. I particularly like the variable control, I always turn the control down before using any of the brushes and to date haven't had the 'melting brushes' problem that other reviewers reported. I would be happy to recommend this steamer for general household use.

Absolutely fantastic-very addictive! Make boring cleaning jobs so much easier and fun. The mistake I made was to use the scrubbing brush on the cooker hood making it really caked with grease and hard to clean. You have to be realistic that it doesn't claen really mucky places like ovens but makes it a lot easier. Great for skirting boards. Have to be careful near light switches as managed to give 3 of my kids electric shocks-my fault! The only problem is that all my family and friends want me to try it out on their houses!

Seems good for the bathroom but will not remove any dirt from my oven. Pipe for cleaning floors is far to week and would break easily.

I bought this item for my wife as our old Penguin decided not to work,
she used it in the bathroom on tiles in the shower and she was very pleased with the results.

Thrilled with this product: does all that it says it does; economically very good value both reflected in the purchase price and the fact that the bill for cleaning products is going to go down. One very slight criticism would like a gauge to tell you the level of water left in the machine.

I bought this primarily to deal with a textured vinyl kitchen floor which I had found impossible to clean. It coped very successfully although I had, of course, to mop up the dirty water afterwards. My only other use of it so far has been to try to clean a bath but I found it fairly ineffective.

Bought the Vax to replace existing worn out steamer (not Vax) which was used regularly two or three times a week. First impressions are it is an excellent design and been well thought out. The variable steam control is a bonus and allows the right ammount of steam to do the job without flooding the floors. However, if the unit is idle for a couple on minutes, say during relocation. When it is switched on again a considerable ammount of hot water is discharged before the steam comes through. Hence if you are using the Floor Attachment the Cloth becomes soaking wet. I found that I had to disconnect the lance and discharge the water/steam into a bowl, them reconnect the Lance.
I do have reservations about the size of the aperture in the hand unit and the fact that it is not metal. Main concern is that over a period of time, the "steam pressure" will wear/distort the hole size and preformance will be affected.

Small but compact and powerful. Lightweight so very handy throughout the house. The additional tools are also on board which saves time and storage and makes using the steam cleaner very easy.
Altogether a very good buy Keep trying to find things to clean.

I love my new steamer. Small enough to store in my tiny flat but big enough to clean it in one filling. it's great on my laminate floor and in my bathroom. Used it on my sofa and it left it looking like new. Only thing missing is a water level so you can see when it needs refilling.

Have ceramic tiles in kitchen & conservatory which are both very heavy duty walk area for family & 2 dogs. Have struggled to keep tiles really clean with various mops, machines etc but this machine has got my tiles looking like new. Brilliant results. Haven't tried it on anything else yet but am expecting good results when I do. My only criticism would be the lack of visual aid to show that water needs topping up. You have to guess when machine is out of water by lack of steam which I think could potentially damage machine. Also steam 'spurts' don't last long so jobs can take a while to complete. But end result -brilliant!

I was pleasantly surprised at how well the tool moved over the upholstery and how the toweling absorbed the dirt. I plan to get more of the pouches that fit over the various tools that come with the steamer. I was very pleased with the way the pile of the fabric came up and the tightening effect plus of course how fresh the suite was. The fabric felt like new .
My next job will be a rug, and the bathroom will be a regular once over. In the bathroom it sterilizes the shower tray and tiles same with the toilet and the floor around it, all shine and fresh without strong bleach, or expensive products which go off quickly.
Because I was very happy with my Vax Vacuum/shampooer I though I would try a Vax steamer ( no chemicals ) and could not be more pleased with the results .

the only let down is the length of time to heat otherwise a good machine

I've been thinking to buy a steam cleaner for some time, the steamer works quite well at loosening dirt and grime,especially on grouting and build-up around taps. Be aware though that it does not just blast the grime away. I also found it rather strange that there is no water level indicator on the machine. Not only does this increase the likelihood of overfilling by mistake but it also means you have no idea how much steam you have left during use! I have spent a few days testing this product and I like it. It is lightweight,easy to move around and easy to use. I used the brush tools once and they had a life span of 2 minutes, the bristles are nylon and collapse and kind of melt together.

The instructions are fairly basic but easy to follow. Maybe a little more information could be included to explain things like how close you hold the nozzle to the object to be cleaned and how long you hold it there for and what results you might be able to achieve etc. When using for the first time, aim it at the sink as a jet of water comes out for about 2s before it turns to steam.

Excellent at loosening and moving oven grease and grime too and gave my carpets a well needed steam clean! I no longer use my mop on my kitchen and other hard floors but this steam cleaner instead as the brushes on the floor attachment help lift stains and other marks.

pleased with my replacement machine just a shame the first one had to be replaced,i have only used the new one once so far but it seams ok.

I am generally pleased with the S5. I purchased to replace an old steam cleaner that had broke and the S5 is superior to it in every single way! Only a few flaws prevent it being near perfect; the plastic clip that hold the accessories on is not strong enough so on max preassure the accessories get shot across rooms which seems a bit dangerous to me. Also some of the smaller accessories don't hold preassure very well so it's sometimes easier to just use the gun without any attachment.

Excellent need to use some elbow grease but great on windows, floors and bathrooms.

briliant on windows no more streaks.very good on hard floors, not so clever on carpets. but still worth every penny i spent i would rate this product with 5 stars

Good quality machine.
Good tool selection.
Brushes could be stiffer.
Main problem is that there is not enough pressure to displace the grease on the cooker or wall tiles near the chip pan.

Really good product i actually enjoyed cleaning the kitchen floor, (quite sad really). Lots of on board tools for a variety of household jobs, great for defrosting the freezer too.would reccomend to my friends.

Great product. I upgraded to this from the much smaller "kettle"-style steam cleaner [not Vax]. This is a big improvement - more steam, more attachments - more cleaning! It lives next to the vacuum cleaner and is used several times a week, including the cooker, shower tiles, taps, bedding, windows/mirrors and spot cleaning on the floors.

My only negative is that the self-assemble floor extension pipe feels less than robust, but I use this very occasionally.

Very impressed and pleased with the product. It is well made and easy to use. The steam jet is steam with no spitting of droplets of water which is just what you want. Good product Vax, very pleased.

Really good, attachments and machine is easy to use and lightweight. The only thing to make it perfect was if it was more powerful.

I purchased this machine to defrost the ice box in my fridge. it was so easy and quick to do with this machine. it is very easy to use and have told my friends about it. a fantastic buy,am really pleased

This handy little machine is so powerful and easy to use also all the tools are on board just where you need them. Great to have something that does what it's meant to without hassle and leaves the kitchen and bathroom germ free. Well done yet again Vax!

We brought this item after reading good reviews on the Argos Website. We already own other Vax goods, and more or less knew that it would be perfect for our needs. Your customer service is always excellent & your website is great, so we knew we wouldn't have anything to stress over. Nothing beats our old Vax hoover we've had it more than ten yrs, me & my partner are sure the steam cleaner will last as well. We love the tools in each side of the unit, the thought & design gone into this is something else!


We used it on our almost new memory foam Mattress to cleanup a little accident our baby did on the bed, and yes it worked perfectly without any hard work or fuss.


The only gripe with the Steamer is that the lead could have been a bit longer, we did have to unplug & change location in our living room. Other than that it is one of the best things we have purchased.

I have been very impressed with the S5, my windows at long long last look clean and shiny - previously the bane of my life! I love it for getting round the taps and tiles, it is so easy and they come up lovely and shiny. The tiles on my floors too look much cleaner. I defrosted the freezer and the ice just came away in an instant. Also my oven racks which used to be a long messy job now with the adapter it is quick and they come up looking like new. I have bought two hand held steam cleaners in the past but after using them about twice they ended up in the garage and eventually went in the charity bags, the S5 is in a class of its own. I have recommended it to several friends and let them borrow it to see just how versatile it is.

I am very pleased with this do the jobs that you recommended what even brilliant it come in carrycase all in one with little gadgets, use it on my oven first was very impressed, have recommened to a friends.

this machine isn't too bad iv'e a few issues with it mainly being the power cord being unable to wind it up. I think that this is a big design fault maybe would have been better if you had a connector closer to the unit so that you could disconnect the lead and store it somewhere and then the unit would be free from the tangle that always occurs once it's been stored. Also the steam pressure isn't too powerfull but for the money i guess it's ok but overall i would mark it as 6/10 if the powercord was designed better it would be an 8/10 or even a 9/10 as it would be great value for money then.

Nice little tool - does not quite work the wonders I had hoped for but cleans my floors and sofas well and good for thick limescale. Would be very handy if Vax could develop a smaller detail tool to really apply pressure to e.g. limescale / dust in beams and a smaller, more manageable scraper to scrape all the limescale off kitchen taps.

Very efficient but did take a little longer than I thought to get up to 'steam'

found this steamer to be just the stool to clean my bathroom and kitchen. on the down side small bushes seem to be worn after just using twice

Purchased the above recently and have to say I'm really pleased with it. It does a very good job of cleaning carpets, windows, soft furniture, etc. Haven't yet used it on windows or glass but will do so eventually. It also cleaned the grouting in the Kitchen and Bathroom very well. All in all, I consider this to be a great product at a reasonable price.

I bought this product having read some favourable reviews.I was also aware that several reviews criticised the durability of the tool for cleaning the grout between the bathroom tiles.
On its arrival I used it to clean my wooden floor,the cooker, the work surfaces in the kitchen and also the bathroom tiles.The machine performed very well and I didn't notice any problems with the cleaning attachments,but I didn't use the machine on the maximum setting.
The cleaning capabilities of the machine were impressive.
My only criticisms is the fact that when using the floor cleaner, if you leave the machine for a short time and then continue to clean there is a discharge of water prior to the unit continuing to steam clean leaving a pool of water on the floor.
Overall I must say that I was impressed with this cleaner especially as it was modestly priced.

used the cleaner on kitchen floor and could see the difference compared to mop cleaning,thought my kitchen floor was clean before using steamer!!!! also used on bathroom tiles came up good. handy little gadget.

The first one I bought was faulty, telephoned Vax who were very helpful and after going through the problem told me to take back to where I'd purchased from and either get refund or replacement. They gave me a reference number in case of a problem. I opted for the replacement and I'm very pleased with the machine. It's easy to use, does what I expected of it and as I have spine problems it's very easy to move about. Hope it lasts as long as the Vaxcarpet shampooer I bought many years ago - died aged 18 years!!!!

Excellent product. Well made and compact. Very usefull range of nozzels. Once filled it produces a continous stream of steam for an amazing length of time. Enough to clean a whole bathroom on one filling. My only small critisism is that it is easy to knock the nozzle release button on the gun so that the unit detatches. I would reccomend this product to anyone wanting a domestic steam cleaner.

It cleans very well and is very light and easy to use. The brushes wear out quickly.
Also I had to return the item as it had steam coming out the base of the machine and would not heat up, the shop replaced it for me and my current machine is working fine.

VERY GOOD STEAMER

I find the handle gets very hot when using it after awhile otherwise it does a good job.It is good for cleaning verticle blinds.

Great little cleaner! There are attachments to clean just about everywhere, including carpets and floors and windows.

Soon heats up and maintains plenty of steam to allow almost constant use until the water is all used up. Good design facilitates easy internal tool storage of the smaller items, all other tools assemble easily. In general an excellent machine, far better than my previous unit.

Really easy to use. Efficient - used it for cleaning tiles, cleaning laminate floors, cleaning ceramic floor tiles and cleaning the cooker so far. Extremely pleased with the machine - love how all the tools fit neatly into each side. It does what it says and is compact and easy to store.

Very pleased with my purchase. I had been looking to purchase a steam cleaner for some time now but had been put off with reviews on similar products mainly due to lack of cord length. When I saw Vax had a 6m cord and read the reviews I had no hesitation in purchasing. Having purchased a Vax Mach 7 upright vacuum last year I had total confidence in the brand. It has not disappointed. Only small criticism is there is no water level indicator.

We have used it so far on the bathroom. I was shocked when I saw the dirt that came of the shower hose considering I bleach and scrub it with a toothbrush. Also the same thing happened with the taps. We are pleased so far with it. We will be cleaing the kitchen next.

well built machine that does what it says on the tin......have only used it twice so far, but seems to be effective where we have used it in the bathroom to clean the discoloured grout. Could do with a guage to indicate how much time is left on its steaming cycle, but at the end of the day its not that important.

The steamer is brilliant, but the tool attachments could be beeter, brushes wear to quickly.

I am really impressed with this. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a steam cleaner. After having the machine for a month now, I can say that it's not one of those purchases which get used for a week then shoved in the cupboard, I use it at least 4 times a week. When I took it out of the box, I was surprised at how small it was - it measures approximately 26w x 26h x 21d(cm), but what surprised me even more was how much power such a small machine had!

It comes with lots of different good quality accessories including a detail nozzle, brushes, a window attachment and more that are all stored neatly within the machine. The blue part you see in the picture is a 'door' that you pull open to find the accessories and there is another door on the other side with more accessories. The only parts that are not stored within the machine are the 2 extension tubes and the floor head.

The machine is light, even when filled with water, but you don't have to carry it around much anyway as it has a very long lead and is on wheels so it just 'follows' you around. The instructions are a little basic - mostly pictures with a little description underneath, but once you've used it once, you'll find it easy forever.

It has what I would call a childproof lid so you have to push down and twist to open then you are able to fill the machine with 700ml of water (you get a handy jug with very clear measurements on the side). Push and twist again to close it securely. Once you have attached the hose and made sure the steam handle safety latch is on, you can press the button to turn it on. It takes around 8 minutes for the LED lights to turn from red (heating) to red & green (ready) then you get around half an hours worth of steam.

To release the steam, you press the safety latch once again to unlock, then press the steam trigger on the handle for as much time as you want. It is very simple and very easy.

I have used the steamer to clean ceramic floor and wall tiles, grouting, windows, carpet, wooden floor, the bathroom (sink, taps, shower doors, head & floor) a hob, conservatory roof and the fascias around my house, all with great results.

When steaming around taps, grouting and the hob, I was truly amazed at what the steamer got off. Limescale, soapy residue and grease lifted up like a breeze, then all I had to do was rinse it away. Cleaning hard floors was easy - just attach the floor head and away you go - very fast and easy to clean.

When cleaning a carpet, you just attach the upholstery cloth to the floor head and you're ready to go. I had a bad stain on my carpet which took 2 goes to remove. The cloth can be washed in a washing machine or by hand afterwards.
I found that the extension tubes were a little flimsy when all were attached, so did not want to push down too hard on it. It felt perfectly fine if just one or two were attached though. When you have finished, you turn the steamer off at the plug, press the steam trigger to release steam, and let it cool before emptying.

All in all, I think it does a superb job and is well worth the money.

I like this machine I think it is powerful but small and good to store the only disappointment is I wish there was a small flat tool for worktops and tiles etc That is the only disappointing thing about this product.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT

A very good product although do think the trigger could be easier as you need to press oit a long way before steam is released this maybe a safety feature but i was begining to woder if the product was faulty. Once i got past that it is a excellent product.

This replaces a much larger and more expensive cleaner. I had reservations that it was not powerful enough to do the job. I have been very impressed with the design and it is more than good enough for domestic use 10/10.

Bought this mainly for our tiled floors. We are very happy with the results. Made my shower cubicle look just like new. Its not hard work and its a great result without any cleaning products.

Great product, easy to use and wheels around really easily. Could do with an option to fill and use continous steam, but by filling up the machine I tend to get all the kitchen done with one fill then the bathrooms with another fill, so waiting for the unit to cool is a little time consuming. Other than that I absolutely love it.

I have found this to be an excellent product with it being small light and on wheels it is very easy to get around everywhere. The only problem I have found having arthritis in the wrist it is hard to push the knob down and twist to lock it. I have been so please with my S3 steam cleaner I have recommended it to three of my neighbours after showing them how good it is they have been out and brought one for themselves.

I am very impressed with how good this steam cleaner is and it does give very good results. My shower screen is gradually looking like new with the water marks slowly vanishing. My only criticism would be the tubes. As they are made of plastic they are not very strong, however I can still manage to steam my floors adequately. I would recommend this steam cleaner to anyone. P.S. I have already got a VAX vacuum cleaner which is brilliant and I also bought one for my Mother.
