excellent ideal for the work which is cleaning the slate tiles covered with polish

I was pleasantly surprised by the Grime master. It is ideal for tiles and general kitchen/bathroom use. Have yet to try on upholstery but that isn't really what we bought it for anyway. Only negative is that using it with the shower screen attachment does not really produce the desired finish.

Instead of thinking about buying the S4 Grime Master I just wish I had bought it sooner - All these cleaning jobs you keep on putting off are done in an instant. Unbelievably I was looking for more jobs to do so that I could use the Grime Master more!!

Excellent value for money. Years of grease just dissolved away on my lovely Italian tiles behind cooker and now they look like new !
I used the brush attachment and it worked really well.

I haven't used the other attachments yet but feel sure they will be good on bathroom scum and tile dirt!

Thanking you. Ann Wright.

Basically it is brilliant, I use it for the kitchen, bathroom and windows etc for which in every case it produces grease and detergent free surfaces which are not only clean but also feel clean as their areno detergent or grease smears left on the surface.

yes have found very easy to use , have used it in many rooms , the machine realy wants sumthing to let u no what water is in the tank , i no you have ten mins use , but having used it , i think i need the s5 or s6 , but that is in the new year , but i am happy the steamer could not believe the dirt it has moved out in the bathroom etc , regards

The Grime master is well made, solid, and feels dependable. A quick read of the instructions and you are away. I hadn't used mine until a week to ten days after delivery, so I was looking forward to using it on the oven. It helped de-grease the roof of the oven which is difficult to get at. I am really looking forward to dealing with the cooker hood next. What am I saying? I hope my wife isn't listening.

nice well made steamer, would be more versatile if there was a small flexible pipe attachment.

We have found the S4 Grime Master very useful. It has helped us to clean a variety of places that we had probably given up hope on.
If there is a downside it is that there is no indication of when the water is about to run out, other than that, no complaints at all!

For a handheld machine found it light and easy to use. The jet steam was strong enough to clean most areas but didn't remove hard stubborn stains. An improvement for this product would be to have some indication when the water level had finished.

It does what it promises,is brilliant on windows and mirrors. It softened dried dirt ie in window frames.I have also cleaned tiles, toilet and cupboard hinges.
It excels in hard to reach jobs ie radiators and plug holes.
Instructions are mainly in picture form which makes it very clear and thank goodness no long booklet with 30 pages of languages when you only need the 2 pages in your language.
Easy to hold and quite light in weight.
Heats up quite quickly and runs for about 10/20 mins depending on the settings.Does need at least 10 mins to cool down before adding more water and it does state to take care as it`s pressurised and hot! but thats kind of obvious. The only down side is there is no "low water" indicator so you know how much water you are using.
In a nutshell it is good at doing what it should! so easy and pleasureable to use i have steamed my house within an inch of it`s of it`s life.

I bought this product to clean my UPVC window frames which are a bit fiddly with all the different component parts. The moment I used it I was very pleased as it effortlessly cleaned away years of grime and dirt and left them sparkling white again.

A good, value for money steamer which is not too heavy and gets the job done. Also very good for cleaning the glass.

We initially bought a poor relation and found it to be not up to the job. We have been VAX customers before, buying a Carpet Cleaner and were very pleased with it so this prompted us to take a closer look at VAX again. We are very pleased with it's performance and ease of use and have no regrets on our purchase.

Great for cleaning tiles and also UPVC sills on conservatory.

(Posted on 17/09/2011)

Seems so far to do what it mean't to. Steam capacity a bit limited but being a hand held, size and weight are limitations. Quality also appears to be good, feels it will be quite durable. Too soon to tell whether the principle of steam cleaning will be practical long term. Good product though.

In the short time I have had the S4 GRIME MASTER ( 2weeks) I have found it to be a must around the home. The few jobs that I have used it for have been brilliant and as I look around the potential for future work load is vast.

I am very pleased with this steam cleaner. My only wish is that the water reservoir was visable. I realise that you know it is getting empty when the steam subsides but it would be handy to be able to see the water level.

Very good light weight hand held vacuum cleaner.Good level of suction and easy to empty and clean filter. It would be great if a wall mounting bracket was supplied with it.I have made one.

Mrs A Hamilton

(Posted on 18/08/2011)

I do like the Grime master, but find it a bit of a fiddle to get the hose together to clean corners etc, having to disconnect the hose from the side and attach it to the bigger hose and then having to balance the vacuum so that the brushes dont touch the floor. I feel that I need about eight arms, but the suction is good and once the tools are in operation the power is good, its just holding the brushes off the floor that are the main concern as it warns you not to let the vacuum sit on the floor as the brishes could burn your carpet etc. but all in all thumbs up

very good water tank could be bigger otherwise no bother

Gavin Telford

(Posted on 13/08/2011)

Very easy to use, just fill and go. Would prefer a larger tank but aware that may impact on portability. I would like a boost button that maybe gives you am extra blast of steam for a few seconds for really stubborn areas. I woul also like a long flex, maybe 5 metres or longer. Otherwise I'm very satisfied.

Tried the Grime Buster on the shower , in those crevices the toothbrush won't reach. . . seems to be very effective, rinsed and cleaned up well. Had some trouble with the window attachment as the shower screen and kitchen window turned out decidedly streaky! More practice required and then I'm sure I'll master the techniques!

Excellent piece of equipment, Cleaned tile grout perfectly. also cleared ingrained dirt around double glazing. Kitchen is next.

(Posted on 03/08/2011)

The S4 Grime master is a super little machine. It is light and easy to handle and it heats up very quickly. It is especially good at small jobs - it dealt brilliantly with the build up of grease on my cooker hood filters! - and I have also used it to clean armchairs and sofas - but the reservoir is quite small for big jobs like this which also needed cleaning products and a lot of rubbing. It would be helpful if you could see how much water is in the reservoir and I found the screw top lid quite tricky to manage. But on the whole, a great addition to my cleaning arsenal!

A quite useful steamcleaner,[handheld]. I find this window cleaning tool to be far too small for the average size double glazed windows. thoughThe green light doe's not come on even after twenty minutes plus. Oyherwise, a good value for money tool and pictures instead of words an excellent feature. Recommended.

First impressions show this is a well made and sturdy steam cleaner with a very good stopper. I used filtered water to minimse scale build up. The water boils to steam and pressurise in about 5 to 10 mins. The plastic surface is deceptivley cool but do not forget there is high tempreture pressurised steam inside. Keep well away from children.

The steam release trigger and nozzles are perfect for safe and accurate steaming of grimy surfaces. But you have to bring the nozzle very close to the cleaning surface for the high tempreture to have any effect. Any further away and the steam released from the nozzle dissipates the heat very quickly and lose the cleaning effect. After heating the electric cable can be unplugged to take the steamer to other rooms. The pressurised steam will be avaiable for at least five to ten minutes. And then just plug in again to heat up. Ensure you do not run the vessel dry.

As cleaner by itself the steamer is not as effective as a cleaning detergent. Hoewever you can reduce the amount of detergent to wipe the grimy surfaces first and if possible wipe again for a rinse. But now the steamer is very effective. The high tempreture steam helps to dilute and rinse off the detergent film and immediately wipe the surface with a dry cloth. The surface is left dry with a sparkle. Very good on flat glass. ceramics, steel, and protected wood surfaces.

I have not had much luck with cleaning off the black mould off the grouting in the bathroom tilrd walls. Some people claim they could do it. I am sure they are right, but how?

I found it easy and light to use very happy with product

Jessica Deacon

(Posted on 07/05/2011)

I've seen steam cleaners advertised around the place and they seem like a good idea. So I was happy to get an opportunity to try one out. O.k. so - it is good, it is useful, but it's not going to suddenly turn your home into a gleaming germ-free palace. A little elbow grease is still going to be required and it's not going to take over every cleaning job in the house. But for some jobs, it has quickly made itself pretty well indispensable.

What do you get for your money? A 3metre/10ft mains cable. That is a sensible length, I think. Long enough to give you flexibility to move around, not so long that you'll be tripping over it. A range of attachments - these include a simple 15cm long nozzle, a small, stiff brush that fits on the end of the long nozzle, a window-cleaning attachment and a couple of elasticated flannel covers that fit into the window cleaner for use on furniture. Of course, you can also use the thing with no attachments at all. And a plastic beaker for measuring the correct amount of water that you can pour in at one time (260ml).

The instructions are all in pictures - no multiple languages. They are straight-forward. Unscrew the large grey nob and pour in 260ml of tap water. Screw down the nob, plug in, switch on - make sure the safety catch is set to ON while it is heating up. A red light shows that the power is on and a green light signifies when the machine has reached a working temperature. There is also a calibrated switch which allows you to select the power of the steam jet.

Once the green light is on, flick the safety switch to OFF and press the trigger. That's it really. It takes about 2.5 to 3 minutes to heat up. 260ml of water doesn't seem a huge capacity but it lasts for long enough. I didn't time it but I'd estimate between 5 and 10 minutes at 'full throttle'. Once it's empty, I think it is a good idea to let it cool down before you refill it. I didn't and as I poured in more cold water, it spat at me.

So does it work? Well, as I mentioned, it depends. It is absolutely brilliant for cleaning nooks and crannies. For example, the joins in my white uPVC double glazing seem to attract particularly stubborn dirt and this just blasts it out wonderfully. It is also excellent for cleaning the cast iron grill tops on my cooker (the little brush attachment is quite useful here). It is rather less useful for cleaning the oven. For a start, in a confined area, you quickly can't see a thing through the clouds of steam, especially if you forget to take your glasses off (yes, I know that's obvious now, but it didn't occur to me then). It also didn't make a great impact on the (formerly white) grouting between my (black) kitchen tiles - but I suspect that the grouting has perhaps yellowed with age, rather than dirt.

I tried the window cleaning attachment. I didn't really hold out much hope for it, but was very pleasantly surprised. It did tend to drip rather a lot, but it really cleaned my greasy kitchen window a treat. So that, in conjunction with blasting the seams in the window frames, makes for a Job Well Done! Generally, though, it seems to work best on small areas rather than over large work tops. It does work on large work tops, but clearly the effects are rather more diffuse.

Before you empty it, let it cool. Basically, this is a hand-held steam cooker. If you take the filling nob off before it cools, steam shoots out under pressure from both sides. It probably says that somewhere in the instructions but, well, you know...:-)

So - all in all, a very useful addition to my armoury of cleaning products. It is, perhaps, a little specialised - i.e. nooks and crannies - but I have no other tool as good at doing what this does as well as this does what it does well. If you see what I mean. I haven't tried the furniture attachment as most of my furniture is covered in throws, so it's a bit superfluous. But, on top of doing what it does etc., it also does it with no chemicals (aside from H2O), no abrasives and no detergents.

The Grime Master gives you the tough cleaning, grime busting power of steam in a versatile, handheld design. It's great for hygienically cleaning a wide variety of surfaces all around your home - windows, upholstery, tiles, mirrors and much more. With a 7-piece accessory kit included, you've always got just the right tool for the job.
